In the original release, I don't think the game could even hit 30fps. This remaster is locked at 30fps, which is a shame considering it runs on 60fps on PC and looks like a dream. Definitely the type of game that massively benefits from a higher framerate.

yes I played it on PC. I guess helly must be on console.

it looks and plays like a mid lifecycle budget ps2 game

I don't like the game but that sounds harsh. the one thing I liked about it was that it seemed pretty high quality. great graphics, animations, frame rate, nothing to complain about in those areas. the gameplay though... ugh. maybe it gets better, but I was not having fun, that's for sure. gameplay-wise, skyrim is just plain better, which is a sad thing to say.

I think this is probably more common an issue than just that. it's almost always the case that the people that own an idea are different from the people that produce it. for example, working as an engineer, it's common for you to have to declare any personal projects you have once you're hired, because *anything* you make from now on, even in your spare time, belongs to the company.

Hantavirus can make you bleed out of every orifice.

hmmm.... are you in Europe? reading about it, 'old world' mice carry hantavirus that causes 'hemmoragic fever with renal syndrome', which would explain why you'd say that. that has a 1-15% fatality rate.

new world mice cause 'hantavirus pulmonary syndrome' which is the one that has more like 30-50% fatality. it causes fluid buildup in the lungs and you die of suffocation. it seems to be harder to get though.

good info here: http://www.infectionlandscapes.org/2012/09/hantaviruses.html

Crashlands is interesting in that it tries not to even have an inventory. Anything you gather, you just have and can use at the appropriate time. It's not perfect since it's not always easy to tell how close you are to having what you need (though you can track crafting so that you can, but you can't track quests that need you to gather X amount of thing.)

use glue traps, though some don't like them since it's a slow death. but they're nice in that you can put them places you know the mouse will run, and once it runs there, it's toast. it's also nice that you can tell that a mouse *hasn't* been there, too.

also keep in mind that mice carry hantavirus, which is pretty terrible. it has like a 2-6 week incubation period and is 30-50% fatal.

Mega corporations don't really have principles.

What's a 'mega corporation'. Lowes is pretty big, and they, for example, refuse to say 'Merry Christmas', so yes, large companies can have 'principles', it depends who's running them, obviously.

I know kind of what you're trying to say, I guess. The larger a company, the more obsessed it will be with money. A smaller company will tend to be less obsessed with money, and more free to act on their own prejudices at the expense of their business. A larger company would be run by money obsessed managers whos principles will be narrowed to the point of only thinking of money. Ok, maybe, maybe not, but that's at most a tendency, not an absolute.

I think I would say yes, even if I don't like it. It may be an issue with no good solution. There are problems doing it either way.

He may be a doofus, but one thing Cenk Uygar said that I think I'd agree with is that it depends on the scale of the business. If you're a small independent store, and there are tons of alternatives, so you don't really have any reach or influence, then yes you should be able to discriminate against your customers.

But if it's something like Walmart or some kind of sufficiently large company (who knows what the criteria would be for 'sufficiently large' though), then no, you shouldn't be able to discriminate against your customers.

some people don't agree but to me DS3 is meant for people who played DS1 to death already. it's super hard in comparison. what's great about DS1 is that it's actually easy when you understand it, it's just figuring it out that takes a while. DS3 (at least to me) is painfully hard even when you understand it. both are great though. (in summary: I recommend you play DS1 first).

I think "did she do the right thing" is a stupid question. Since she's the victim, it's her right to have an opinion on how lenient or harsh his sentence should be. There is no right or wrong answer, aside from what gives her peace.

I was thinking something similar. I voted 'no', meaning that the 'right' thing to do is let whatever consequences befall him befall him. but the fact that it wasn't the 'right' thing to do is what makes it humble and compassionate. guy better be grateful, because that's way the fuck more than he deserves.

May I recommend just quiting?

as long as there's an actual fight to be had, it's annoying but bearable. the real problem is when a wall of fog is up and you can't go anywhere, you can't save and quit, you can't even sit at a bonfire, and yet no enemy shows up. the game basically becomes temporarily unplayable. all you can do is wait or alt-f4.

helIy posted...
it is only an online game if you play online. you can play offline and still not pause this is 100% unacceptable.

you're still playing an online game offline. it makes perfect sense to me. the game doesn't have a 'pause' state. it's not really a trivial thing, it has to be explicitly implemented that it's possible for the game engine to be running without advancing time forward in the game world and it makes perfect sense for such a state not to exist in an online game (ie: a game that is programmed to be an online game, whether you play it that way or not). that it can be played offline is just the devs choosing not to be dicks like Bliz or EA.
