Your numbers are off - Halo 1 sold about one copy for every five Xboxes and Halo 2 sold 1 copy for every three Xboxes (and for the latter figure, I wasn't able to determine if that was including sales of the PC version).

That's not really a mark in the console's favour, though. Like... Halo *made* the Xbox, to the point where if Halo hadn't existed, I think it's unlikely the Xbox would have made half of its eventual sales (yes, Halo's sales numbers were below that mark, but Halo was the reason why people gave the Xbox a shake and that built interest via market penetration). I'm not sure I've ever seen a console that was so reliant on a single franchise to move units. The next best-selling game on the Xbox after the Halo games was Sneak King, a joke game given away by Burger King with their value meals, and the dropoff from Halo to the next games on the list is steep; no game on the Xbox sold even half of what Halo 2 did, and, disregarding Sneak King, only one managed to meet that mark for Halo 1 (Fable). Contrast that with the PS2 and Gamecube - take away their top two best sellers (GTA:SA and Gran Turismo 3 for PS2, SSBM and Mario Kart: Double Dash for GC) and you still have really solid libraries without any big sales dropoffs.

If Halo didn't interest you, there was almost no reason to buy an Xbox - even back then people noticed that all its best games were either multiplatform or wound up on PC six months to a year later. If you had a PS2 (and, given its status as the best-selling console of all time, something only the DS challenged it for, you probably did) and a PC capable of running modern games, you already had access to 90% of what the Xbox was offering and a lot more besides.

Yes, Halo was the killer app for XBox and moved units, but it did have some kick ass games as well. I mostly got mine for KotOR I and II and Jade Empire, as well as Morrowind, since I didnt have a gaming pc at the time. Back in the 80s, Super Mario Bros was the big system seller for Nintendo. There were tons of great games after, but had the NES not launched with that in the states, I don't think it would have sold nearly as well as it did.

GameCube is a great system to go back and play years later, but at the time there were long droughts while ps2 had a massive library pf bangers on a pretty consistent basis. "Who cares it ot barely had 3rd party support?" is a lot easier to say now as opposed to when other folks were playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, the Final Fantasy games, GTA, etc and you were in between big releases. It's why I eventually got all 3 systems.

Sword of Vermillion on Genesis kind of has a similar vibe.

The 1949 Mighty Joe Young was an RKO film, same as King Kong and had the same director and had the same creative team, so it was kind of a spiritual successor at time.

Where do you think Jewish diaspora originally came from? Israel is more or less the area of the historical Judea, after the Jewish rebellions, the Romans renamed it Palistina as a way to separate them even more from their land, and expelled them. Even before WWII there was a movement to establish a national home for the Jewish diaspora, and after the holocaust, that movement gained a lot more traction. As far as Israel controlling so much of the land, that's what happens when Arab coalitions kept attacking them and losing in '48, '56, '67 and '73. The current Israeli government has been pretty awful to the Palestinians, but they've also had to fight for their survival in a region with countries that won't even recognize their right to exist and would just as soon exterminate them.

For the most part, it feels like it wants to be a victory lap celebration for Rebels. Which falls kinda flat because a large part of the fanbase just refuses to watch the animated stuff and for some reason reason only side-character actors get to reprise their roles in live-action. Some of which really stand out.

Of course, it also messed up on a writing level, how can one pretend to celebrate Rebels and then not feature Zeb?

Republicans frequently fuck up the economy, and somehow manage to blame democrats for it. They've basically coasted on Reganomics "working" for a few years in the 80s and continually get the benefit of the doubt on economic matters despite historically its up to democrats to clean up their messes. Great Depression? Republicans in office. Early 90s recession? Republicans. 2000s recession? Republicans. Biden has had to deal with the fallout of a totally mishandled covid response, and global supply chain issues, inflation and the Ukraine war on top of everything else. Republicans basically have "well things were kinda crappy when Carter was president in the 70s" and haven't let go of that.

I had two leg lengthening surgeries on my right leg as a kid because it was significantly shorter than my left and I needed it done so I could lead a normal life (mostly) Each surgery was very difficult, painful and had about a year of recovery and physical therapy. I couldn't even fathom doing it for cosmetic reasons, considering my leg is covered in scars. I also topped out at 5'7" so you really seem like a doofus to me for this lol

Most don't. The San Diego Zoo will have it open at night during the summer, and around Christmas for special stuff but that's about it.

For difficulty, Super Mario World had the best way of handling it: Have a bunch of optional hard levels the players need to discover. Few things felt as cool to 12 year old me as finding the Special Zone for the first time.

I'm kind of confused by who this is even for. It runs 7800 games, so its more an Atari 7800 dressed up like a 2600. I guess it's for collectors that want a more convenient way to play their old cartridges?

Considering Bethesda's last "success" was 12 years ago with Skyrim (excluding Id games, which don't count for obvious reasons), I don't have high hopes. Very much a game that I will pick up if it seems good, but I am not getting it day 1.

Fallout 4 sold 12 million, but its been a minute there too. Elder Scrolls online has done well also. We'll see though, Starfield has been their baby for awhile and the big release everyone has been waiting for.

Eh, even day 1, Skyrim was pretty fun, even with glitches. Same with the Fallout games.

Bethesda games with the exception of Fallout 76 are generally good on some level right out the box, so I imagine it'll be decent and not something like No Man's Sky launching with barely any content.

Economy is doing better, inflation is down, and Trump has 77 felony counts and 3 trials (minimum) between now and election day. I can't imagine multiple criminal trials will HELP his odds, especially when Mike Pence is 100% on board with testifying to the fact that Trump and his cronies straight up tried to overturn a fair election and basically planned to turn the military on anyone that protested their attempted coup.

Nintendo usually does well with their names except for Wii U, but Xbox has been abysmal. I think Nintendo could be in a good position to start numbering their systems if they stick with the portable/TV connected system gimmick, i.e. Switch 2, Switch 3, so forth.
Xbox just sucks with it.
