Rewatch his older videos with the mindset that it's all sarcasm. When you do that you realize it's actually hilarious. He blurs the lines for comedy but the general public just happens to believe it...the same people that voted for trump. Anyways, the guy is definitely an asshole for things he does but his short video rants are funny when you realize it's sarcasm.

Youy guys' examples are too extreme...roads, public schools? Like those are basic needs that need to be funded. Theres just so much superfluous that is well beyond "Needs" that wastes money. Like we could cut taxes by 5% across every bracket and we wouldn't be significantly affected.

TopicDoes no one give a shit about covid anymore?

I don't know the official numbers but Covid is just not as severe anymore. Its rare that we see someone in the ICU purely for COVID pneumonia and nothing else contributing - out of the ones we do they are usually immunocompromised or they've never actually gotten it and never been vaccinated. Enough people have been vaccinated (multiple times) and have had it (multiple times) that heard immunity is likely taking effect. This is an expected progression of virus, this is what we thought would happen. The exception is if there happens to be tough strains any given year where the previous exposures/vaccines just aren't as effective. It will similar to flu in that there are ups and down years. Tbh if someone gets covid at we're evaluating them in the ICU, we look for other causes of low oxygen before pinning it on covid. Maybe I'm biased because I'm in california where 85% of people have received at least 1 shot, and where I work that number is probably higher, based on the assumption that people in central valley are probably less likely to be vaccinated.

I just searched the numbers to confirm my own observations:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-cases.html
As of the last 90 days, deaths in the US are 0.08 per 100,000 people. In California its 0.06 where 74% of people are fully vaccinated (at least 2 shots). Worldometers describes 0.5 deaths per 1mil in the US.
https://covid19.ca.gov/state-dashboard/
In california at least we have 0.03 deaths per 100,000 from mid august to mid october, with 0.4 per 100,000 hospitalization rate. And tbh most rapid tests are not reported and alot of people with mild symptoms aren't even bothering checking anymore.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm
Flu deaths appear also to be 0.06 per 100,000.

I'm not saying covid doesn't matter anymore, but it really is becoming more similar to flu as time goes on. Its not the same beast it was early on. Source: I was an ICU doctor in the trenches from the beginning of covid.

But anyways, I had 80k in FMFXX on vanguard. I sold 40k of it to be liquid again on friday. Once its done processing and shit it'll prolly be another few days until I can actually use that money to buy again, so maybe not today. I'm also re-thinking whether I should put that much in at once into one stock, even though I'm confident in it. I might do 10k for now.

Been searching for YEARS. The best glasses I've ever seen have this far been the short stem tulip glasses I bought at the Yamazaki distillery. They are apparently not an uncommon design in Japan but you really can't buy it anywhere online without way overpaying.

Just saw these and bought em immediately:

$30 each x 4

These are 10oz glasses, so not too big like the typical 12oz glasses. For whiskeys smaller is better IMO

Beevor mentions after the first nuke they warned Japan they would do it again unless they surrendered. I think they waited 3 days and got no response so they sent the second nuke. After that the emperor wanted to surrender, he recorded a message to be sent to the public about how they were to surrender and I think their was an attempted coup because other leaders did not want to surrender still. They eventually were defeated and they did end up surrendering.

I actually audibled this book I'm posting about and it was like 36 hours I think and tbh that's so long I started zoning out on some sections in the middle.

I actually bought the book so I intend to read it again in more detail aka looking up things I'm not familiar with as I go.

I always have 1 nightstand book I read a little bit at a time every night and I have 1 audible book that I listen to on my commutes.

I live in a bougie suburb that has a tight knit community...most houses will have decorations and some really go balls out. We had 2 large buckets of candy get handed out. I live in a small court where 3 of the houses had tables set up with decorations where people were just chilling on the porch.

It was actually a lot of fun, we did the same outside. Otherwise having to constantly answer the door to hand out candy is annoying af.

There's plenty of time our curriculum is just fucked. IIRC we had 1 year of World History, 1 year of US history, and 1 year of Government class.

What it should be is 2 years world history and 1 year US history, and 1 year government where they teach you more than just US government. And the world history class should cover the world wars. And in that scenario, out of 18 months of world history I would imagine several weeks should be spent on WW2.

We learned about basic tactics, main events, and the Holocaust.

But we really didn't talk about the depth some of the atrocities. Like hundreds of thousands of not millions of girls raped. Mass famine and disease and deaths related to that. Biological and chemical warfare. Grotesque medical experiments with prisoners. Large scale cannibalism....often raping, killing, and eating victims because of food shortages. Germany, Japan, and Russia killing their own men who deserted. If you got captured you were considered a traitor.

Like it goes on and on and on...we didn't even touch the surface of some of these things.

That's not because of it's current leadership it's because of it's beautiful weather attracting big companies and skilled immigrants making it the home of a bunch of mega tech. Its a tech hub which has a ton of skilled labor which drives innovation and new business.

Whether the governor is Republican or Democrat would have no bearing on that because any party that hurts big business would be committing suicide in California.
