This was in the days before social media and in the early days of the popularity of 24 hours news coverage but my ship in the initial gulf war during Desert Shield launched 13 Tomahawk missiles and one of them ended up taking out a hospital. It was well known on my ship but I don't think any news outlet ever knew. I remember interviews with civilians saying how their homes and families were bombed to oblivion. When I was visiting a cousin in the Phoenix area I couldn't believe how crazy the highways were. It was like 6 lanes in each direction, bumper to bumper.
