The Boston Mooninite Incident would probably qualify as #1 dumbest on an expanded list of all television since 2003 or whatever. An entire city government just doubling down on being wrong step after step after step, and nobody with power or influence being willing to say this is fucking stupid so they all continued to go through the motions as if this had real legitimacy as a plausible terrorist attack.
This.

Barney was always the token scapegoat for "that children's show that kids grew out of and wanted to prove how mature they were by bashing it at every opportunity". Hence that song that we all heard. But looking back on it, there's no logical reason why. It was just one of many nearly identical shows like that, even including ones with giant mascot costumes. Barney just became the face of it for some reason.

I was actually gonna comment on this about the Arthur episode, but now it has its own full entry. Very annoying and frustrating to watch, no matter the show. Maybe it's due to personal experience (I'm the oldest myself) but the younger siblings (both in fiction and IRL) do tend to be able to get away with everything. Your comment about them taking them blame for telling the parents what the sister did hits close to home.

I almost wonder if people's feelings/memory of the gusher's commercials is in some way correlated to whether they enjoyed eating gushers. Just from seeing the handful of comments on here, it seems like people who liked gushers found no offense with the commercials, or even liked them, while people who didn't like gushers seem to find the commercials disturbing/unappetizing.
This is assuming that you had already tried them prior to seeing any commercials.

I hate to say but they did scare me out of trying Gushers when I was young. At some point I grew up and retroactively felt embarrassed that younger me had fallen for it (and later on, Gushers became one of my favorite snack foods for a while), but those commercials really did have that effect on kids.

But that's what I'm saying, it may have morphed due to the environment where it was later broadcast, but I was talking about its original intent. Which I guess people might not know if they only knew it as a 90s CN cartoon and and not what it was like when it started.

I just sort of have a problem seeing shows like Owl House and Steven Universe, which involve a hell of a lot more critical thought than The Flinstones ever has, being listed as "children's TV" and for some reason Flintstones is not.
The Flintstones was intentionally designed to be an adult sitcom, airing in evenings alongside other live action adult sitcoms of the time. To call it a children's show just because it's a cartoon is... well, exactly that, stereotyping it based on its animation rather than its content. As someone pointed out earlier, The Simpsons is the same way.

Scooby Doo was the very first TV show that ever made me consciously notice how formulaic it was. Every episode followed a 100% identical flowchart. No deviation, no twists, just mad libs to decide where the gang visits and what costume the antagonist (who is always the first person they meet) wears. I had a whole realization about how shows like that were supposed to be simple humor aimed at kids who wouldn't notice how lazy they were, and if even a kid like me (part of their target audience) was able to see completely through it, then they really failed at their one goal. This might have been a defining moment in my life that changed how I thought about TV shows and kids media as a whole.

So yeah, I've always disliked Scooby Doo. Obviously I dislike all of its blatant knockoffs too, which somehow manage to be even worse and more derivative, but I don't like the original show either.

I barely even know or remember what Beetleborgs was, I'm not sure if I even watched it myself, but I do remember being aware of its existence and perceiving it (at the time) as being popular. So it most likely was a case of the target demographic being too young to understand that it was bad, and therefore actually liking it.

This seems to be a more serious-focused game, but of course the internet won't take it seriously because they already made a meme out of "T-posing" so the meaning of the game will be lost on them.

I imagine that this game will be somewhat like Wattam but with more focus on the actual plot. There will probably be a lot of goofy interactions that you can do with the environment as a result of your arms being like that, and a bunch of random stuff to do that's not related to game progression. But ultimately it's supposed to be a story game.

I was under the impression that this guy was there because he was a professional expert on diving and shipwrecks and not because he was an "eccentric billionaire" going down there just for fun, and therefore shouldn't be stereotyped along with the other 4 people who died.
