Fish Bowl - This song doesn't feel like a typical "short song" to me. It feels like a full length song that's just missing a minute or two from the end. Listening to it, I can try to pretend that it's longer and isn't about to abruptly end. This made it the hardest song to rank. I do like what's there and in this case I'm not letting its duration hold it back, even though I wish it kept going past 1:45. (I debated ranking it even higher, although the songs that I ranked above it deserve those spots too)

I decided to listen to this album. Only after I finished did I think to check the date on this topic to make sure it was still active. Phew, it's still the beginning. I'm gonna rank this one, probably after I do a full second listen in a few days. (I like doing this topic, just lost motivation to listen to weekly albums for a couple months since my last one)

Also, my YouTube playlist was accidentally on autoplay and it started playing a different song afterwards which was really cool, but not part of this album. I'm gonna have to check out that album after this...

Alien is one of my favorite Katamari songs (and this is spoilers for a topic that I might post in the future)! Samsara is a cool song too and I wish that it were in match 1 instead.

Match 3 is unfortunate. Moonman is very interesting. Techno Syndrome is a classic and well-liked song, and mostly not associated with the video game (even though as it turns out it is game-original and VGMC legal). I enjoy that style of music too. But when my opinion between two songs is close I have to side with the one that is more novel.

Not necessarily, if it's commenting on how song names have to be truncated sometimes to the point unreadability, which could unfairly influence voters joining based on the title (such as "NEFrostSt" vs "Zelda").

So this contest starts with... A system that has generally nice sounds (which I wish we had more of the contests), but a boring song from a boring series. Versus, a series that I really like (with consistently great music), but a boring song that's not representative of what this series usually offers. Both cases could have picked almost anything else to gain my enthusiasm. Ultimately I'd rather listen to NES beep boops since it's easier to tune out the melody and listen to the instruments, but I'm not excited about it.

Match 3 is somehow a battle of two of the most perennial returning series in this contest that I always dread hearing. I can say about both songs that they're not the absolute worst things from their respective series, which in this case in a compliment to each of them.

I have it on Gamecube (Collector's Edition disc). I don't remember the last time I played it. I liked the game by design, but iirc there was a part that I got seriously stuck on (not a puzzle, just a dungeon I think?) so I've never beaten the game. I remember that I used to periodically throw attempts at it, but who knows how long it's been since then. I'm guessing probably not any time since I was in college, so I'll vote for Wii era.

I don't see how save states would help you in this game. It's an action game, you have to actually do stuff in real time.

I think your mistake was responding with a question mark instead of more clearly asking for clarification (I'm assuming that that was your verbatim response since you put it in quotes). In the current internet environment a "?" response can be interpreted as "I acknowledge and actively disagree with your stance" rather than "I don't understand your stance".

In the literal last minute I had to decide to double a 4/4 or a 4/3... I chose the 4/4, not knowing that it would have been safe on its own. So I'm very grateful that my abandoned 4/3 was able to survive the bubble anyway.

Plus I got one of my own noms at 4/3 to make it in, after I had given up hope of that song gaining any support. So between that and the 5+ confirmed field, this nom period went quite well for me.

I didn't expect Yeehaw to be the one getting more support, but I'm all fine with it.

Fun fact: I was planning on nominating it a few years ago, when it was first revealed during development, but I changed my mind at the last minute. Now that the game is finally out, it luckily remained one of my favorite songs. It was going to be my only PT nom, but I added Wudpecker at the last minute because I expected it to be more popular, which is also why I listed it before Yeehaw in my initial noms.
