There is nothing, and I mean fucking nothing, the modern Hitman games do better than Metal Gear Solid V, which remains the best stealth game ever made and is a better sandbox too.

So I finished the last episode.

Honestly... my immediate first impression is deep dissatisfaction. I just don't understand why these choices were made. To me, "mastermind" is Elliot Alderson. He's who we always knew? I watched him contemplate suicide. I watched him sob in the corner of his apartment out of abject loneliness. And now he has to die this weird spiritual death watching the "real" Elliot's life in a movie theater? Why did Mr Robot always treat him like the real Elliot until suddenly exposition dumping that he's a rogue personality in control?

It all feels like a twist for the sake of one more twist while accidentally throwing away like, the entire character. The montage of old clips didn't convince me that this was a grand plan in the making either. I don't see Elliot can't just be a misanthrope, that it actually needs to be an extension of his personality disorder.

This is in the top 50 episodes of all shows on imdb so I guess I'm in the minority on this though? Did something big go over my head?

4 episodes left and all's left to resolve (besides the emergence of Elliot's final personality) is Whiterose's mystical machine-- the show's only purportedly supernatural element besides perhaps what Tyrrell found out in the woods. Really curious where this is going to go. Whether it's going to be fired up and things actually go down

Re4make is not a bad game but I went away from it feeling like most of the segments did not improve upon the original. I think the remake's tone change is at least self consistent for the most part but in almost every instance it made for a worse game.

Leon comes off extremely unlikable in how he treats Luis. Salazar has been monumentally downgraded, while Saddler's presence did not improve enough to make up for that-- so the middle portion of the game feels strangely lacking in direction. Krauser's presence has been played up including having him kill Luis but now it feels more like you're supposed to have more background knowledge of his relationship with Leon, which obviously you do not if you've just been trucking along through the remakes. A couple truly iconic segments are just absent from the game. The most severe omission in my opinion was the disappearance of the ski lift. I get the removal of the running Salazar statue or the laser room is to fit the more serious tone (lame as that may be) but the ski lift being gone really speaks to how willing the remake is to sacrifice the fun and joy of the original.

Every time an achievement popped up with an iconic quote from the original, I was just reminded how great RE4 still is and how this remake is dedicated to going through its motions without its identity.

The best thing I can say about the remake is that they kept most of the mechanics of the enemies like shooting axes and dynamite out of their hands. But damn, that's my biggest takeaway is that it still plays like the old one at least?

RE2make was an exciting remake because it effectively translated the fixed camera puzzle game original into a modern 3rd person adventure game and fantastically implemented Mr X to truly innovate horror games. RE3make was a rushjob and didn't live up to the original's ambition but again at least it transformed the gameplay. What has RE4make really brought to the table? Relatively little imo.

I can see 8 or maybe 9 for a score but, I don't understand how people are calling it better than the original. It can only be a 10 because it's RE4, but the remake itself didn't put in the work to earn 10s, it can only get that score because the original is that good.

RE5 was where i felt the original series lost the plot with too much action, I actually wouldn't mind it being made with some of the constraint put on the RE4 remake. But RE4 itself was already a perfect game and all that could be done for it was a face lift. Everything else was gilding the lily.

My pet peeve with this show is the frequency everyone is kidnapped. Elliot should be carrying a gun
