I really wanted a Vadem Clio when they came out. It was a convertible laptop/tablet that ran Windows CE. They were stupid expensive, though ($1000, $1750 in today's dollars)

I've had a Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note 12.2, and a Galaxy Tab S6. The Note 10.1 stopped working, I have the 12.2 mounted on the wall running a weather app, and the Tab S6 is my daily driver.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a Tab S9, though I haven't decided which version. The Ultra has the best specs, but it's gigantic.

Work gave me a Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio. That's the model that looks like a laptop, but the screen can flip over to cover the keyboard (like the Clio) and you can use it as an extremely heavy tablet (4 pounds, the Tab S9 Ultra has a slightly larger screen but is 1.6 pounds)

Oh, and I bought my spouse an Amazon Fire HD 10. Man, did that ever turn out to piece a piece of crap. All Amazon tablets are garbage.

Sometimes now I seem to get ads that bypass ublock, but at a pretty low rate as if it's only a few getting through, so I'm really not sure what's going on.

Go into the dashboard for uBlock (the gears icon in the uBlock menu), then select the Filter lists tab. Click Purge all caches, then Update now. uBlock automatically updates the filters periodically, but this will force an update right away.

Just get a credit card and get in the habit of paying it off regularly. Or set it to auto-pay. Just make sure you pay the whole thing every month and don't spend more than you have in the bank.

Credit cards are safer than debit cards because the bank isn't required to refund your money right away if your card is stolen; you may have to wait weeks or months to get your money back and you're SOL until then. With a credit card you don't have to pay the disputed portion of the bill until the investigation is completed.

Some cards have really good rebates. If you have Amazon Prime, their Visa card gives 5% back on Amazon & Whole Foods purchases, sometimes more, plus 2% back on restaurants, gas stations, drug stores, and local transit. Verizon has a Visa card as well; it pays 4% back on grocery store and gas station purchases, stuff you'd have to buy anyway, plus 3% back on restaurants and 2% on Verizon purchases including your phone bill. Costco and Sam's Club have their own cards with 5% back on purchases at their stores and various amounts elsewhere.

Bank credit cards usually have the worst rebate programs; my credit union card just gives 1% back on everything so I barely use it except for stuff that would fall under the "other" 1% category with the better cards anyway.

Last time I ate at KFC, the pieces were incredibly tiny. Maybe half the size of one of Costco's chickens.

$20 would get you four whole rotisserie chickens from Costco. And they're big chickens, not the weird mutant micro chickens KFC uses.

We got adopted by a cat and her six kittens. She snuck into our garage and gave birth inside my roommate's project car. We managed to catch them all and take them to the vet to be fixed, then let them go. They've still hung around, and there's a lot fewer mice and birds in the garage and barn.

I always find it odd that the so called Jewish state Israel never existed until 1948 so where was it before 1948.

Prior to WWI it was under the control of the Ottoman Empire. From 1920 to 1948, it was Mandatory Palestine, established by the League of Nations, and placed under the control of the British. In 1947 the UN attempted to partition the land into two states, with Jerusalem under UN control; the Jewish and Arab communities instead went to war. When the Mandate expired in 1948, the surrounding Arab states, Egypt, Transjordan, Iraq, and Syria, invaded, sparking the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The result of the war was the Jewish state now occupied 60% of the area proposed for the Arab state. Following the Six-Day War of 1967, the Israelis occupied 100% of the Palestinian territories.

1/2 cup Tangy Tomato Sauce*
1 medium canned tomato, chopped
1 tablespoon green chili pepper
1 tablespoon dehydrated onion flakes
Artificial sweetener to equal 2 teaspoons sugar, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon basil leaves
Dash of garlic powder
1 slice enriched white bread, toasted
2 ounces cooked chicken, chopped
1 ounce grated Monterey Jack cheese
Combine tomato sauce, tomato, chili pepper, onion flaked, sweetener, cumin, salt, oregano, basil, and garlic powder in a saucepan. Simmer 12 minutes. Place toasted bread in a baking dish. Pour sauce over. Place chicken on top, then spoon grated cheese over chicken. Bake at 350F (moderate oven) for 15 minutes. Makes 1 luncheon serving.
