I work help desk, so most of my work consists of typing up a response to a question, hitting send, and then waiting a week before closing the ticket with Resolved (No Response).

I've been out mowing late enough that I was beginning to have trouble seeing. Made me think about adding headlights to my mower's ROPS bar. I did at least add some reflector tape to make it more visible since I do mow along the edges of the roadway.

I paid about $4000 for a gaming laptop from Dell. It was originally designed for Vista, and it managed to make it as far as Windows 10 1907 before it stopped being able to update. It would probably run great with Linux.

It's still a fairly decent machine. I swapped out the hard drives so now it has two SSDs in RAID0, it's got a TV tuner, a dedicated Nvidia GPU, a 17" screen, and a full-size keyboard. It also weighs like 12 pounds and has a power brick large enough to kill a man. The battery only lasted about 2 hours when it was new because it was such a power hog.

You don't need to actually simulate the entire universe. It could just be a skybox, and we're only in a more limited space.

I would recommend going shorter, actually.

My grandfather would have been taller than me (I'm 6'), but he had to have surgery to fuse several of his vertebrae and that shrunk him by several inches.

Americans credit card debt hits a record $1 trillion

Americans credit card debt levels have just notched a new, but undesirable, milestone: For the first time ever, theyve surpassed $1 trillion, according to data released Tuesday by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

During the second quarter, credit card balances shot up by $45 billion, or nearly 4.6%, to land at $1.03 trillion, according to the New York Feds latest Quarterly Report on Household Debt and Credit.

Rising credit card debt and auto loan balances helped to drive overall household debt levels up 1%, to $17.06 trillion for the quarter, the report showed. Overall household debt has spiked by $2.9 trillion since the end of 2019, before the pandemic. The New York Feds debt balances are nominal and not adjusted for inflation.

These increases are coming at a time when interest rates have quickly vaulted to a 22-year high.

The US population was 331.9 million in 2021, with 259.2 million people above age 18 and 131.2 million households. So the average credit card debt is about $3,858 per person, and the average household debt is $130,000.
