As someone who doesn't drink soda except with mixed drinks, I for one would love a combo that allows you to say no drink in exchange for knocking $1-$2 off the price.

But that'll never happen because they would lose more money sacrificing that $1-$2 and not giving the soda because that shit is dirt cheap, so it's easier to force me to pay $1-$2 more and give me the soda that costs them a matter of pennies.

Ordering the burger and fries not as a combo often ends up costing more than the actual combo which drives me insane. Half the time I'll do the combo and just say no soda thanks

it's also horseshit how they don't give you the actual seat number until after the actual transaction goes through. there's a HUGE difference between seat 1 at the top and seat 16 at the bottom. i knew i was buying row A, but from there it's like "alright you're gonna be playing the lottery for a number between 1-16, let's see what you get!!!"

I mis-spoke; they could grandfather one unit at the $1200 rate but set every other unit at $1650+. They don't have to say the $1200 is available, but they can say their units do start at $1200.

So like, they take the hit by having a tenant on a cheaper rent, but they get to turn around and advertise a cost that likely undercuts the surrounding market.

What year is the house? I bought one a few months back and my biggest stipulation was it's gotta be very new. We ended up finding a 2018 3br/2ba split level for 342k. Zero big ticket items so far (knock on wood)

Older houses are money traps for sure, but if you did your due diligence, the items you mentioned shouldn't exactly come as surprises.

Having said that, does your homeowners insurance not cover the wind damage and leaking? That seems like a bad policy if so.

Yea it's all a scam. They'll have one shit unit that they can price cheaper to fulfill the "as low as" bit. So when you saw $1200, it was for that unit (which will never be available because that's how they list the price low, but the other units they'll sell you are far more and it's technically not lying or against the law.

Agreed. I enjoy the 4th because it's an excuse to go to the parents' cabin on lake superior, but beyond that, agree with everything. The whole point of living up north here is the fact that summer is supposed to be pleasant in exchange for long winter. 90 with humidity is way too hot.
