Wojak (or "feels guy") is innocuous and even the NPC variant isn't a big deal but the out-of-hand way that using it to call people soyboys and basically render all further discussion as moot because "your opinion is soy, all further points will be met with another soyboy wojak" is enough to make me lose my damn mind (plus it can be used in a "if you get annoyed then it must apply to you," way).

I admit I've got serious neuroses that come from having to be accepted and validated by other people.

People who are unable to walk away from a discussion without making sure their point is the only one that counts and until it does they will insist on engaging over literally anything.

It's gone beyond feeling like I'm constantly having my taste being judged for personal preference and satisfaction, too often I'm dealing with conversing with people who will never end it on a "whatever, you do you."

I got very leery of that the first time I tried to use it (like I deliberately had the dealership do something I might have been able to address in another way simply to see if my warranty was worth a damn) but lo and behold they did actually have my back.

Maybe that isn't indicative of EVERY repair I try to make but at least in this instance it's hard to say this shouldn't be covered so hopefully if they're as much on my side as it seems I should be able to do so without any waffle.

I'm already down $190 just for them to tell me what's wrong (even though I can convey this very easily) and that isn't even under my used warranty (I didn't buy the car from them).

But knowing what dealerships charge I wouldn't be surprised if this repair hit the mid-$1000s so at least having that covered will be a relief.

Mine's a hybrid Fusion. In addition to saying the steering is shot the car said lane assist was busted and "AdvanceTrac" needs servicing but I assume these are all tied into the same supersystem that manages the steering.

I was told the power steering is a sealed system in such a car, which means it's not directly user-serviceable. All feels like just making it so only Ford can maintain your vehicle at unreasonable markup...

Thankfully it only really happened when I shut off then turned the car back on (so I wasn't moving) but it's been demonstrating a weird issue since the weekend (whenever I'd turn the wheel and as it was turning back to neutral it would hit these "stops" along the way that made it feel like there was a small amount of resistance that was building up near the center point -- it was just starting to get worse and more noticeable last night when I got the warning there was a steering issue then it going out entirely after I parked the car). Last week the steering also seized up briefly when I started my car but I just wrote it off as a glitch (since the car seems so heavily software-controlled).

But when I went out to get food last night it just stopped turning entirely and I had to be towed out of there. Now I need to be towed to the mechanic.

At least I bought that warranty when I got this car. Such a pity it's had all these small-ish problems, it's far and away the best car I've ever had (and I don't just mean mechanically).

Okay, let me reframe this: "cooking" isn't a "basic life skill" but being able to prepare food in SOME fashion ought to be.

Cooking has kind of a low bar so I'd argue it is.

The best way to look at it is "what it is vs. what they are". It is the holy land and birthplace of Jesus but what they are is a state run by oppressive segregationists. There's no reason it can't remain the former without the latter changing for the better (and honestly who would be opposed to that except Netanyahu sycophants it's not like things are good for average citizens in a situation like this on either side).

Israel is known to be committing human rights violations and state-sponsored segregation. Responding with terrorist attacks is obviously the wrong response but Israeli leadership is more interested in giving themselves the justification to raze the Palestinians to dust than break the cycle. Their treatment of that segment of the population is spurring radical behavior from the opposition and they have the power to put an end to it by treating Palestine with dignity.

Isn't that kind of sad? Someone no longer interested in making people laugh. Seems depressing and an indictment of how awful society is.

Well for me it's mostly about just being able to pay directly out of that account without having to pay myself later.

I have used it to screw around with shady sites, though. The payment controls and ability to just shut off a card when I don't want to use it anymore are also nice (I used the payment cap thing to back out of a really hard-to-cancel device repair plan from Asurion so they simply wouldn't get paid).

I have this vision where, if in the future there is some method that can limit or even remove the need for sleep, a company will require that their employees subject themselves to it so they can work 15 hour days and they never have to close.

Well, fine, I ended up repurposing one of the other credit cards I use from my bank to serve that end.

What I'd really like to do is also attach that account to Privacy.com so I can create burner cards for that account and do my online transactions that way (limiting my credit card to physical purchases so it doesn't easily go overboard). Unfortunately I'm having issues with that right now that I'm trying to work through.

If you have Amazon Prime, their Visa card gives 5% back on Amazon & Whole Foods purchases, sometimes more, plus 2% back on restaurants, gas stations, drug stores, and local transit.

This one looks tempting but I read some of the reviews and they seem to have some kind of weird interest system where if you carry a balance any new purchases that are put on the card in addition to the carried balance get interest charged on them as well instead of just the carry-forward balance.

Plus apparently purchases take a long time to post (which could easily factor into this since it means you can carry forward a balance even if you didn't intend to simply by how long it takes for something to get added to your transaction history).
