I keep picturing self-important runners being like "That motherfucker thinks I'm not worth a few extra bucks for all this trouble I'm going to for his lazy ass. I guess that milkshake would make a good substitute."

I dunno maybe around here there's enough runners to go around to the point that someone's always on hand to grab an order but I never feel like I'm being shafted regardless of what I tip in terms of turnaround time.

More and more I think I need to get over myself and just start picking up my own food. I'm tired of enduring big businesses trying to control the gig economy.

No, because I didn't request faster service. If I wanted faster service there's an option at checkout to get faster service for a surcharge. I don't pay that surcharge, meaning promptness isn't my priority. Just bring my order when possible. If it takes TOO long then I'll address the matter with Doordash but otherwise all I'm asking for is for it to appear sometime in the time quoted by DD.

Again, all I tip for is so that the driver doesn't get any ideas about screwing me over.

Pre-tipping is so asinine. What am I tipping for? No service has been rendered.

And even if you are tipping what's it in exchange for? The exact service I asked for? It's not like they're making it any better by going above and beyond, their only role in this was to move something from one place to another.

I only tip these days to prevent sabotage, which is fucking rotten (pay your runners better, it's not my freaking job when they aren't working on behalf of the restaurant).

Hey, sequels after a long time aren't always a bad idea.

Particularly comedy sequels. It's fun to see how guys we found funny when we were younger kept up their game (or...well...didn't).

I definitely participate in the civil process, I just want to reserve a shred of preference for whom I bubble in, if I do.

I had a lot of consternation when I saw those terms the last time I used the app. I eventually conceded because I couldn't contrive a situation where I would want to litigate against them based on my usage of the app but it is a pretty drastic demand for an app to make, no question.

I felt like my major recourse here is that it only applies to interactions with the app and not any business I might do in-store. If something happens there that needs litigation so long as I didn't use their app to initiate the business transaction I should be able to dispute it through some other legal channel (at least such is my hope).

I think their music should be listened to by more people. It's nice and chill.

IT is the kind of thing I could only see myself doing if I started young (which I did, sorta). Trying to switch into it after working another field first I wouldn't have the patience for it at the bottom (help desk is infuriating and I only really survived it because I respected that I had much to learn and enough years in my life to make it pay off).

The problem with this mentality is that someone is going to win the election and they are going to be part of the government. If elections were voided because people didn't vote, then it makes sense to not vote, but the fact is that not voting just makes it easier for the worse person to win. Whether they win with one vote or a million, they have the same power.

I do recognize that but what is voting if not something you're doing for yourself? I just hate voting in a way that is simply to prevent things from getting worse. It's so damn hollow. Might as well move somewhere else where the political landscape is less shitty if that's all you've got left in the tank.

Some people don't really feel invested in the candidates running and to place a vote in an election where you don't stand behind any candidate wouldn't be honoring one's personal values. Voting as a practice should be one of commitment, at least that's how I always hope it would (these days a lot of voting seems more like it's done to stick it to the opposition rather than advocate for a platform you yourself stand behind).

Personally I study the candidates running, particularly in local races, and I don't place a vote in that race if I don't see myself agreeing with the choices (especially if the one I did vote for never made it out of a primary or similar selection process so you're just left with "as good as you'll get").

I find this disingenuous.

It's the other way around: when your hobby is in a good place you should be excited for life and motivated (your leisure time should feel rewarding and be the kind of reprieve from the daily grind it deserves to be) yet why am I not?

It's just Miles doesn't always get good writing or proper focus.

It's the difficulty that comes with trying to evolve a character whose most recognizable form is as a guy who can't ignore an injustice but lacks the luxury to just step out of his average civilian life to be a hero. There's just something missing when you have a Peter Parker who has a balanced life where he can juggle all his different hats without becoming overwhelmed or making compromises. So writers feel the need to inject drama or hardship into his "perfect" life in order to retain that recognition from readers but as a result it ends up making it look like Peter can never truly live a happy life.

See you people want to talk about people fucking whereas I want to talk about what turns me on. That can get a lot more awkward (maybe).

Nah, never had an opportunity. My job hunts have rarely ever resulted in an offer coming in during my tenure at my current role.

The exact numbers quoted by the shop were $899.79 + taxes and "disp" (dispensation?) on my end and $2962.09 being paid by the warranty. You factor it all up and it must be $4000 or very very close.

So it seems the rack and pinion on my car is shot in some way (they didn't go into detail). Serious repair.

They said I have to pay around $1000 OOP to get it fixed, which is definitely a sting. But thank fuck for that warranty because THEY'RE on the hook for about $3000.

So, yeah, the warranty works... :\

Considering the car is a '19 that is a pretty craptastic build quality for five-ish years in (can't believe you'd be throwing down that much cash to fix a problem on something that most people would have JUST gotten finished paying off in most situations). The state of things, I suppose (which, again, makes me sad since I DO like the car a lot, I just can't deny that corners definitely seem to be cut on newer vehicles).
