Isn't it said somewhere or universally believed by many if not most Christians that those who never hear about God's word won't be damned to hell? Doesn't going around being all evangelical potentially damn more people to hell?

Well to be fair at least people on this board don't go to others' houses multiple times to try and convert them.

According to his Wikipedia page, King was a believer of non-violence, partially inspired by Gandhi. He wouldn't have forcefully put others in danger by blocking roads. In fact, some other leaders in the Black Rights movement had reservations about King for not being assertive enough, like Malcolm X, according to the page.

From what I have read, he was a great orator and was the kind of person who didn't believe in the phrase "actions speak louder than words". He was a man who understood nuance, which many people have tried to bury since it doesn't allow them to have their cake and eat it too.

We already had a former President start a violent insurrection and I don't want protests that should be done being accused of the same violent mindset, lest people turn away from a good cause because someone can shout "Both sides!" and make others think these causes are not worth fighting for.

Yeah, but after Light kills L the show just kinda falls apart. The first half is some of the best anime ever made. Everything else after that is just kinda...meh.

Only reason why I didn't add it to my list.

I see what happened here. The paragraph we are discussing, sentences in bold:

One time my girlfriend made me supper and it was burnt and horrible. I ate it and didn't say a word. She knew it was crappy and didn't need anyone to pile on. She asked why I didn't complain afterwords and I told her words do damage and she did something nice for me by cooking me dinner. Sometimes you don't know how a persons day went and negative words can have horrible consequences in a relationship. She will love you all the more if you work through it without complaining.

From the two sentences there, it is difficult for me to not to infer that there was a bigger conversation about the dinner (presumably she told him she knew it was crappy, otherwise how would the narrator know?). The question about companion was a set up to the moral of his story. I did not read that as his girlfriend's only takeaway - further communication is implied but its explicit detail was not needed to get the main point across.

Edit: I can respect if you're a zero assumption / very literal reader for online discussions. I just found our different takeaways from the same text interesting.
