Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

They aren't exactly the same, but No Hard Feelings, Joy Ride, Strays, and Bottoms all came out this summer. Bottoms was my favorite of the four, and probably the only one that lives up to its potential.

I think Strays just started streaming somewhere, I'll have to check that one out.

I've never heard of Bottoms, but I now want to see it based of the IMDB description

"Two unpopular queer high school students start a fight club to have sex before graduation."

That may be the most random collection of words I've ever read in one sentence. LOL

Movies along the lines of Superbad, Hangover, American Pie, Van Wilder, etc?

Regardless of you personal taste of them, those are some of the ones that are considered some of the all-time greats, especially of the late 90s-early 2010s.

It seems like a dead genre, especially when it comes to theatrical releases.

A little context....

It wasn't flagged as sexually explicit.

It was flagged for "review" because it was in a database created by entering certain words. Which in of itself is problematic.

It's a complete joke that certain pockets of the country feel the need to put these processes in place, as opposed to letting the children's parents review the material and decide whether or not the material can/should be review by their child.

As a homeschooled kid growing up in PA in the 90s I had to take standardized tests to prove I was keeping up with the public school kids, as did every other homeschooled kid I knew (think taking the SAT but in middle school, maybe earlier), and we had to be evaluated every year by a school teacher to doubly confirm we were actually doing stuff. In high school (possibly earlier and my parents just handled it) we had to log a minimum of 990 hours worth of school time every school year and submit that as well.

I was always under the impression, becasue that's how it is in New York, that you would still have to pass the standardized State Education tests.

Little did I know that there's a lot of states that have no requirements.

My take, and I get flamed for it a lot here, is people's inability to recognize their "own party's" flaws, and instead brush it off with phrases as "Why would you complain about a small brush fire on one side of the fence when the entire forest is burning on the other side".

Well, you should still put in the effort to put the brush fire out.

Also the "You're either 100% in agreement or you're the enemy' mentality that a lot of people have when it comes to politics.

For example, I was told "I may as well be Pro-Life" becasue I felt the abortion laws that were in place prior to RvW being reversed were OK, and the counter was that since ANY sort of trimester limitations to elective abortions doesn't give women bodily autonomy, it wasn't Por-Choice.

No the creepy part is how the movie is a projection of the director's life and how he "got" with a 15 yr old when he was 32 or so (I say "got" because they met when she was 12 so who knows when they actually started dating) and then knocked her up almost immediately.

Which is why I said if you view the movie as just a movie and not let the backstory get in the way, or have no knowledge of it, it doesn't come off as creepy.

Andrew Yang is a bit of a hack, but his UBI plan was pretty foolproof.

A VAT (Value Added Tax) on luxury items, so you didn't have to pay into it unless you had the money to cover it (for example, homes valued at over $1 Million, Yachts, Cars in excess of $250K, etc) combined with if you're part of the UBI plan you can't be a part of other government assistance programs (such as food stamps or welfare), and it only went until you started collecting Social Security (not 100% if that was an official part of the plan, but I recall him mentioning it).
