Skipping over andy's posts because I haven't played, but I've always been torn on whether or not I'd enjoy this. I appreciate a good JRPG, particularly from the SNES era, but I don't seem to be as into them as I used to be and I'm not completely sold on the overheating mechanic or the fact that the game switches to being about mechs later. Am I being dumb?

Tried Sea of Stars when it released. Played it a bit and it was...fine, but I ended up not continuing with it, if that's any frame of reference.

I am semi-amazed that match 3 is a thing.

I would not have guessed this was about to happen. I'm not the biggest Escapist fan, but they had just brought Frost on full-time to do Cold Take and Yahtzee seemed to be transitioning into doing something a little different which -- to me -- sounded like it was largely for a better experience on his part. In fact, about the only thing that seemed "negative" was Yahtzee's disclaimer at the beginning of the recent videos where he would call out Youtube for demonetization over swear words.

I'm really sad that I didn't think FFT could be the answer to that question and went on a deep dive. And now I will have l i t t l e _ m o n e y.

If we're just throwing out names of games, there's a recent release, Mineko's Night Market, where you control a human girl in a town with mystical cats. I don't know exactly what it's about, but it's certainly cat-coded.

edit: Doesn't sound like it's reviewing very well on Steam atm. Maybe wait a couple patch cycles on that one.

I would not put it past me to make an error like this...again. However, I get at least one more day's reprieve before something actually goes wrong.

Okay, I was out earlier. Cat related games I have played on Steam:

Cat Quest 1&2: You know about these already.
Stray: Duh.
Little Kitty, Big City: Absolutely adorable game that only has a demo right now (that sadly got pulled due to the whole Unity thing.) Will hopefully release next year.
The Purring Quest: Not a very good platformer, but the art is attractive and the theming of the game is kinda cute.
Gibbous: A Chthulu Adventure: The cat is a side character, but she's a talking cat who gives her owner crap in this LucasArts-esque P&C adventure.
Gato Roboto: Black-and-white Metroidvania about a cat who can pilot mech suits.
Ato: Another metroidvania. Ato is I think a fox, but it's hard to tell. So samurai foxcat trying to protect his family.
Copy Kitty: Anthro cat who is playing around in a military training sim. Wasn't my favorite.
Cat Cafe Manager: Bought this one for a friend. It's okay.
Night in the Woods: Mae is a black cat person in a town full of animals who are struggling to get by.

I can disagree on those points, because for me they're whatever.

I'm not going to hijack the topic with this, I promise, but just a few of the aspects of always online:

• Cannot, under any circumstances, pause the game.
• Cannot, under any circumstances, play without other people running around.
• Enemies respawn rapidly, meaning you never feel like you're making progress.
• Enemies respawn rapidly, meaning you can never get anywhere in an efficient manner. (I quit before getting the mount.)
• Overworld is extremely thick with enemies to compensate for groups of players moving through at the same time.
• Group events are happening all over which can often interfere with your intended progress.

Like, I'm okay with these in an MMO. That's the design focus of an MMO. But this isn't World of Diablocraft. And that's only the complaints I had that can be correlated to the always-online aspect. I have quite a few more grievances that I'm not going to air here because it's just kicking a dead horse and that's not the intent of this topic -- I hope the people who are enjoying the game also enjoy the expansion. That just won't be me.

No, it was trash out of the gate. The "always online, on our servers only" ensured that. It affected the gameplay. It affected the game design. None of it in a good way.

I mean, it's an okay game. But it sure as hell ain't a Diablo game.

Vessel of Hatred sounds like a synopsis of how many people feel about the game.

I don't know about overrated and overplayed. It's the best 3-D Mario game not made by Nintendo. Certainly out of what's been popularized in the last few years. I haven't tried Neko yet, but it didn't appeal to me the way AHIT did.

I picked AHIT before reading your synopsis, but I doubt my opinion changes any. The only other game there that I've experienced and that I might recommend is Stanley, but I feel like that's a less universal option. Maybe I should have considered Type-0 for you because it's FF, but I haven't played it.

Bastion is one of those games I enjoyed playing, but had no desire to continue once I'd had my fill of it.

I swear we had another prompt where I saw 'Ow My Balls' as an answer, but looking through the list I don't see anything where it would have worked, hmmmm........

"Oh my __" and "Ow my __" shared a day earlier. The top Oh option won, so we're trying again with just Ow.

should "toe" and "toe my toe" be counted separately? I can definitely see not every "Ow my toe" being a Turtles in Time reference.

In honor of my second screw-up, I had half a mind to make today's prompt "dumb ___," but that might have produced some unsavory responses. Needless to say, this time it was purely on me. I didn't erase "old" from my nominations list, and after a week of spooky prompts, I had forgotten anything that had taken place prior. Sigh.

On an interesting note, twice as many people (percentage-wise) picked Yeller this time. I can't tell if that's because fewer people answered or because everyone remembered the winning response last time.
