Kinda just goes to show that the target audiences for these sitcoms don't really care about originality all that much. They just want shows with characters that are funny and charming. You could "The Office" a construction site workplace comedy and it'll probably do well if the characters are written well.

You are correct.

I shouldn't have said gimmicks are bad in my initial post. It's just that, with streaming, following an existing gimmick means that you can more readily be compared to previous shows that used that gimmick, since anybody can watch pretty much any show at any time.

Some gimmicks last longer than others. The Office's is one of them. People absolutely love that gimmick, still.

* Random encounters were annoying and dated even by the time it re-released for the gamecube.
* It's 3D Graphics as well compared to FF8, or 9.
* unskipable cutscenes
* Poor pacing and slow combat
* poorly balanced gameplay thats fun and engaging initially but eventually devolves into charing spirit, and spamming pirates wrath on top of defensive skills with occasional buffs inbetween.
* Characters were fun with great chemistry. But eventually becomes background characters.
* Lack of VA is subjective but to me it really could have used it more then most other Jrpgs.

So, basically, literally everything "wrong" with FF7-9 and other JRPGs of the time, which is the entire point of my post?

Abbott Elementary and What We Do in the Shadows are super popular

Funny too because they both stole their format from the Office.

Which sorta makes sense, since The Office is the number one show people want to be rebooted. Which is why it apparently is, in fact, being rebooted.

I feel like the problem is sitcoms are centered around a gimmick and they're running out of gimmicks. If you repeat a gimmick, you just get compared to the gimmick that came before you. Like there's just not going to be a way to make a nerdy sitcom without endless comparisons to TBBT.

This. It's not that streaming is "killing sitcoms," it's that streaming means you now have to actually be creative, instead of relying on previous gimmicks. Because if you just repeat a gimmick, streaming allows you to be more readily compared to the previous sitcom that used that gimmick.

I honestly don't really get the "It didn't age well" argument.

It's very typical JRPG. If it didn't age well, pretty much no JRPG did.

And if that's your stance, cool. But I've seen a ton of people say it didn't age well, then turn around and praise FF7-9.

Ah, thanks

It basically means, over time, what was previously "centrist" has become left or right, since then. And since that's constantly changing, people naturally shift one way or the other.

What was "centrist" for your parents is not the same thing as what's "centrist" now.

To actually answer the question, I'd say yes, to an extent.

My parents are liberal. They hate Trump, hate most of the things the right are pushing for, etc. However, they're fairly old, so there are certain subjects that they're... A bit confused/conflicted over, due to how they were raised. That said, they tend to be open to discussing them, and, more often than not, come around.

My comment was in direct comparison to the ring video. You conflated that specific comment to a different video completely unrelated. You made one hell of a wrong leap. Thats disingenuous as fuck.

It's not a leap at all, given the topic you made the post in. The topic was about that happening, and you literally made a post implying you had hoped it had happened to somebody else, in an unrelated video, because you found them "annoying."

C'mon, man.

Where in the world do you make the assumption Im ok with black people being beaten?

In a topic literally about police overstepping their bounds and beating a black person in their own home, you made a comment saying "I wish that video had ended with the cops dragging her away" in response to a video that implied you wanted them to... Overstep their bounds and physically enter somebody's home and drag somebody away.

Seems like a pretty natural assumption, given the context.

The topic was about exactly that happening, and your post in the topic was... Saying you hoped EXACTLY THAT happened to somebody else.

Well that is totally made up. Wtf are you talking about? Are you talking about my comment with the screaming woman from the ring video where I said close to not going to lie, I was hoping that video ended with that annoying woman being dragged out of her house

I wasnt referencing the original topic where the cops barged in after they were requested to mask up. That was undoubtedly fucking wrong.

You really pulled your conclusion out of your ass with a blatant fucking lie.

You literally posted:

Not going to lie, I wanted the end of that video to be the cops dragging that loudmouth out of the house.

Which implies you wanted the cops to invade somebody's home and physically pull them out for... Speaking? During an event where they clearly had no warrant, since they didn't enter the house? And yet you wanted them to physically pull the person out, for... Reasons? And that's ignoring that the video starts with the cop attempting to block the Ring camera until they get called out on it. Do you also support that?

The post we both responded to is #33. Your response is #35, with your poor assumption. My response, just before yours, is #34. This topic was spawned from twitter drama specifically about the word "spooky". I still don't get how you could confuse this for dancing around another word. Like, I'm asking people about a word. Are you expecting that everyone here has horrible eyesight, and can't tell spook from spooky? I still don't get your thought process, but I did correctly predict, with the joke poll option, that someone would find a way to piss themselves off.

So, yeah, you were trolling.

It was never about "spooky." TC was attempting to be cute about knowing the word "spook" used to be/is occasionally still used as a racial slur. This is evident by the third poll option, and by the fact that they refuse to explain why they included said option, beyond "it's a joke bro honest."

This is about as intentional as trolling gets.
