No it's not legal to discriminate against people but still happens, just like every other country in the world.

No shortage of similar cases. It's a matter of if people take the effort to go to the legal system.

The easiest is to marry a Japanese person obviously. I married a Chinese person though. I got permanent residency by having a PhD, certification of Japanese language ability, decent job, etc. It uses a point system. It's actually quite a bit easier than getting a US green card.

Also the people who go on about work culture, xenophobia, or whatever other meme have obviously never lived here. Yep you can find bad jobs and there are racists, but at the end of the day Americans work more hours on average by OECD data and you are way more likely to be the victim of a hate crime in America (or even just killed by a cop). Japan isn't whatever stereotype you have about it and it isn't perfect. But having lived in America, Japan, and China, it's easily the best out of all 3, and my Chinese wife and her family feels the same way.

Lot of people worry about nonsense shit that doesn't matter instead of healthcare, quality of life, environment, safety, etc. I don't give a fuck about getting microaggressioned as a foreigner because it beats being randomly attacked because of your race or just straight up murdered by a cop or a random shooter or whatever else. I swear a lot of Americans are stuck in some kind of reality warp were they ignore the insanity going on around them.

What's the ending? Spoil it idgaf >_>

They stop Eren but he has already killed 80% of humanity. Mikasa, with help from the other heroes, kills him and then kisses his decapitated head. Titans stop existing but the prejudice is still clearly there. You see in the epilogue that they're slipping back into fascism again despite the heroes trying to bring world peace (they say it's kill or be killed, but the heroes are trying to create a UN type organization). During the credits you see the city advancing and becoming more modern suggesting maybe they succeeded in bringing about peace but then a nuclear missile hits and annihilates everything. After the credits a boy and a dog discover a tree where Mikasa buried Eren's head after she killed him.

World War II is largely unique for the scale of warfare and atrocities. The types of things that occurred still happen. Cambodian genocide is a great example of this. 25% of the population killed, about 2 million people. This sounds staggering, but it's largely an isolated event.

In World War II Poland lost about 20% of it's population, 6 million people. China lost over 15 million people. The Soviets lost over 20 million. This makes it hard to contextualize all the wars and atrocities that have happened since then. Nothing has remotely approached that scale.

The Ukraine war has been raging for over a year and a half and total deaths are estimated at around 300,000 people. It's hard to really grasp the scope of what occurred.

A quality inherent in far-left policies. Any policies that lean too heavily towards one end of the political spectrum, be it far-left or far-right are inherently corrupt.

You're treating these ideologies as substitutes for corruptions actual source, power. Power, especially as it becomes concentrated in fewer hands, allows individuals to take advantage of others. Any political system that allows power to accumulate will see corruption increase. However if we say look at the Zapatistas, we have an example of very far left individuals largely devoid of corruption. This is because they don't really have a government or any organization power can concentrate into (private property is largely eliminated, so rent-seeking and most forms of wage labor are also not present).

What you're saying is he shouldn't have been allowed to tell the story at all, which is ridiculous.

And yes, it is his side of the story, but he has provided evidence. Meanwhile, the reporter has provided no evidence whatsoever, and in fact purposely left out that she saw evidence from him that showed the truth.

I am not staying he shouldn't have been allowed to tell the story. I am saying she told the reporter about the doxxing and harassment. Him (or more accurately the people defending him) say it was her own fault she got doxxed. He provides part of some e-mails and talks about using the actors for Netflix (while avoiding talking about the earlier real photo from the actual article). It's weird that we know he is providing a one sided and biased narrative, but we just assume it must all be true and she brought this onto herself without hearing her half. Unless she goes out to speak about this herself, we won't know, but I think it's really weird we just assume his account is fully accurate. Not to say I think the journalist was fully accurate, we all know how they can be selective about or even falsify information. I don't think he should be cancelled and I don't care if he makes up stories for comedy. I just feel bad for the woman who got doxxed and don't think this video is the slam dunk he did nothing wrong evidence people are making it out to be.

Yeah, it's a bit unfortunate that she got doxed from one of her own tweets, but I'm not sure how much I blame Hasan for that. He seems to have been pretty sporting about it. Should he not have used this true incident at all in his comedy act? Would it have been fine only if he didn't lie about it being the day of rather than a couple days prior to the night of the prom(I'm pretty sure any criticism "Bethany" has received has almost nothing to do with that distinction)?

He should never have used personal information about her, blurred photo included. I don't care if he fully invents a story that never happened. Comedians do that. It's only a problem when someone gets harmed. We are only hearing his perspective from this response video he posted and the assumption is just he wasn't doing anything wrong even though we know he is being selective about the information he shares. He should have been more careful, the idea she has to go through everything and scrub her social media so his stand-up bit doesn't dox her is pretty ridiculous.

I mean, we already know that the new yorker article is written in a way to cause people to make false assumptions, so whether that real picture had anything to do with her getting doxxed is completely unknown because the new yorker article did not say that's how she was doxxed, and the new yorker article didn't explain it either.

If he didn't get her permission before using that photo, even blurred, that's a problem, but if he did get permission I see no issue with using it. Still not sure what the dox situation is.

The dox situation was that she was doxxed. And he has provided no information suggesting he had permission to use the photo. Why do we have to assume her story is false and his is true?

Can you source that? I'm having trouble figuring out if a woman was doxxed at all and how it happened if so. He has provided evidence that he's taken efforts to protect her identity, but didn't discuss if she was doxxed in the end at all.

Also your comment is confusing, did a completely different woman get doxxed who he chose to act the part or something?

It's in the original New Yorker article. She says she was doxxed and harassed. In his response video here he says he used an actor for the Netflix series. That's a key point. Because it was never claimed she was doxxed from that. It was from his standup where he used an actual picture of her (with her face blurred).

I copied the relevant part:
The woman also said that she and her family had faced online threats and doxing for years because Minhaj had insufficiently disguised her identity, including the fact that she was engaged to an Indian American man. A source with knowledge of the production said that, during the shows Off Broadway run, Minhaj had used a real picture of the woman and her partner, with their faces blurred, projected behind him as he told the story.
