Having played one Layton game is more than enough experience to get into Layton vs Wright; playing zero Layton games is probably still sufficient, the characters aren't terribly complex, though you'll have less whiplash from the game's style if you've played one Layton game, since it's mostly a Layton game in aesthetic

I'm the one who thinks 2-3, 3-3, and 4-3 are all great cases (and better than every 2 case)

I like G2-3, but I do find it a touch overrated mainly because I don't think it had time to develop most of its characters. I really, really wish they had done more with Sithe.

6-3 > L-3 > G2-3 > E2-3 > 1-3 > 2-3 > 4-3 > 3-3 > G1-3 > 5-3 > E1-3

Everything is so strong here imo except for 5-3 and E1-3; all the other nine cases I like more than every 2 case in the series, I think. But nothing tops 6-3 here.

It's sort of occurring to me looking at the list of cases that there aren't any that I consider to be a real standout, not even compared to the list of first cases (I like 3-1 and E2-1 more than every case on this list). A bunch of good cases but nothing that I feel really, really strongly about.

6-2 > 3-2 > 5-2 > 2-2 > G2-2 > G1-2 > E2-2 > 1-2 > E1-2 > 4-2

The Hulk doesn't win 1v1 fights because there is no narrative purpose to having the Hulk win 1v1 fights. All we can really get out of that is 'yay, Hulk punched the bad guy', and while the Hulk should do that on occasion all of the movies in question are team-up movies. Like yeah of course the Hulk doesn't win a 1v1 fight, these movies aren't supposed to be a series of 1v1 fights, this isn't an anime tournament arc. Big strong man just winning a straight fight isn't something a movie has time to cover.

Like what, is he supposed to beat Thanos? Then there'd be no fuckin' movie. The Hulk is the odds that the other person has to overcome to prove themselves.

Hmm, I'll probably check it out. The first game had some promise but really fell apart and I'd like to see if they can improve on it in the second game.

Thought about my ranking for a bit

3-1 > E2-1 > 4-1 > E1-1 > G1-1 > G2-1 > 6-1 > 2-1 > L-1 > 5-1 > 1-1

By the way, since I'm sure nobody will even bother to bring it up, I think E1-1 is a super underrated first case. It's fairly short and there isn't a lot to it - there's pretty much only one character besides the main cast - but it's got some surprisingly good murder mystery tricks and Edgeworth's office is a cool environment for a murder. The whole twist of there having been two separate invasions, and the future reveal of why the other one happened, was really well done and genuinely surprising. And Edgeworth threatening the intruder at the start is just iconic.

While first impressions are important, I think 1-1 only impresses because you have no idea what Ace Attorney is yet and this 30 minute long bite sized nugget makes you really want more. But like, every other first case is better imo, 1-1 has major pilot episode vibes

I don't really care for G2-1, there just isn't that much to it and it doesn't really lead to anything. I actually prefer G1-1 despite the fact that it has an atrociously slow and long final act.

3-1's my fave though - Mia vs Dahlia and Rookie Crusher Payne is just way too much fun, and it sets up the game's arc perfectly.

Yeah, that's right. I find the gen 2 baby Pokemon easy to cluster, personally, but the gen 3 and 4 ones just slip through the fingers SO easily because they're all so random and hard to remember.

Many of these are likely near the bottom because Sporcle counts spelling and they have tricky names that could cause a player to give up on them, particularly Lickitung, Qwilfish, Beheeyem, and Fezandipiti. Others with tricky-ish names being near the bottom of their respective lists corroborates this (Exeggcute/Exeggutor, Snubbull, Lickilicky, Amoonguss, Pyukumuku, just to name a few) so I wouldn't put my stake wholly in that.

Another thing that's worth noting, although you might consider it a valid part of a Pokemon's memorability - Pokemon tend to be remembered better when they are clustered in a group. If you remember either Huntail or Gorebyss, you are likely to remember the other, as well as Clamperl. A major thing that most of these mons share is a lack of clustering - Qwilfish, Chimecho, and the baby mons from gen 4 (including Mantyke) are all EXTREMELY guilty of this, which makes them difficult to remember when putting together a Sporcle list because there's nothing to hook onto to guide you to remembering them.
