This is the best time to get Starry, as it now has some kind of NSFW filter. That sounds bad at first, but there was this weird period after they changed things up where almost any prompt would produce some kind of porn if you tried to make a photo. A lot of it was disturbing and creepy and quite unexpected, so at least you won't get that.

Sort of, but not really. If you want private, uncensored content with the model(s) of your choice, you'll have to run Stable Diffusion on your own PC or pay to get it run in the cloud. You can try demos or do limited things that people have paid to make available, but otherwise, you're paying for a service.

What does this even mean? Healthy people can't get disability or hospice care because they don't need it. If you become disabled, regardless of age, then you can claim disability. And if you become terminally ill, then you can receive hospice care.

I'll list my own complaints since others have done it:
  1. Kang's character was inconsistent. He went out of his way to be direct and in control of situations. Even after Janet learned the truth from his ship's power core, he still offered to take her home because he said he would, and that offer seemed genuine. Later he refuses to give Ant-Man his daughter back simply because if he hadn't the movie would have ended with them going home and Kang doing his thing instead of Ant-Man fighting to get his daughter back.
  2. That second post-credit scene made many of those Kangs look crazy and almost silly instead of intelligent and threatening.
  3. Kang and Janet were the only two characters being played by people who cared about the film. Ant-Man's actor especially was phoning it in.
  4. The core human drama elements didn't work. Did anyone watching the film actually care about Ant-Man's relationship with his daughter? Are we supposed to feel sympathetic towards Janet for the shame she felt apparently overwhelming any obligation to let the world know bout an insane super villain who has successfully conquered parallel universes, and whose first order of business upon escaping would be to exact vengeance upon Earth if he ever got free? It never occurred to her with active research on applications of the Pym particle taking place that eventually someone would make the mistake of helping enable Kang's escape? Or her complete inability to talk about what's happening when they do get to the quantum realm?
  5. It didn't feel like an Ant-Man movie. Any hero or team of heroes could have gotten sucked down into the quantum realm and the movie wouldn't have changed much. Ant-Man's size changing gimmick really didn't matter in a place like the quantum realm, except for that part where he needed to get the power core, but that trial could have been swapped out for a different character or a different set of powers.

This kind of depends on the cat, and how squeamish you are. I had a cat growing up that loved to kill mice and leave them outside in spots for people to find. He looked like Fat Bastard in cat form after a couple of months and nobody near us saw a single mouse for months and months, even outside.

If you don't have a choice, you don't have a choice. Do what you need to do to stay safe. Try your best to be friendly and unobtrusive, and work immediately to figure out relationship structures and boundaries. The lease is in her name, but your father pays for everything (including the equivalent of rent I assume)? The relationship between your dad and this woman is that her ex is his stepson and a convict? Something about this all feels off to me, but unless a threat or another opportunity presents itself, you don't seem to have much of a choice.

Bills that do one or both of these things are being passed or considered at the state level, and there is at least one at the federal level that has a lot of support. The stated aim of said legislation is to protect minors from inappropriate content, but I can't help thinking the real reason is further mass surveillance and control private behaviors, along with a desire to appear to have accomplished something amidst soaring food and housing prices and a general lack of effectiveness of lawmakers.

Most folks on Reddit seem to be opposed and see this as an attack on freedom of speech, the free internet, and an attempt at enforcing Christian morals. On a major tech news site, most of the comments on a recent news article were in favor, stating that parents need these tools and that it is the responsibility of the tech companies to provide them.

What does CE think?

Crimsoness posted...
Federal government seriously needs to reign in the states' bullshit
Although it doesn't explicitly target porn sites, the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) has provisions that may lead to ID requirements to prevent minors from accessing nebulously defined inappropriate content. The bill is bipartisan and being heavily pushed in Congress alongside other bills that would effectively end privacy and encryption, and give the government much more control over what happens online (EARN IT, STOP CSAM, etc.). Check out the EFF website for more information.

famfam posted...
this probably won't work especially well, but why is trying to prevent 18+ content being seen by minors considered to be a bad thing?
Because almost nothing that is done legislatively "for the children" actually is. Outside of a handful of people involved in the process, nobody is thinking about children here. This is about thinking nobody should be watching porn, and about normalizing stricter control and monitoring of what people do online. Louisiana's version of this actually requires you to use your state ID to watch porn. Sure, internet usage is already tracked, but having to flash your ID and having said ID directly tied to that midget bondage you're about to watch is another level of invasive.

Right now, these bills are easy to circumvent, but they are still steps down a dangerous path. As I mentioned above, there is federal legislation being considered that could censor whole swaths of the internet. The Republican narrative paints LGBT+ people as dangerous to children. How long before you need an ID to learn about drag or gay people or abortion? Or how long before companies can't host content like that at all due to legal liability? That legislative future may be much closer than you think, and the conservative Supreme Court won't do a thing.

Maybe I'm pessimistic, but I feel like the discovery of a wormhole like that would trigger wars and societal collapse. Despite the dinosaurs in office pretending they don't believe in climate change and that the economy is doing fine, the huge number of surveillance bills popping up around the world and the overall reduction of civil liberties suggest that world leaders want to tighten their control before a massive economic/resource spiral. There would be huge incentives for countries to fight against each other for sole control of the new world, not to mention the rich wanting to really control everything with a fresh start on a new Earth.

Only important people and indentured slaves would get to go.

The parties are definitely different, but when bipartisan issues bills do come up, it's suddenly like there is only one party and the Limit Break meter is full.

Patriot Act? Bipartisan. Those weird giant spending bills full of unpopular stuff that no regular person wants and nobody wants to go on record voting for individually? Bipartisan. Attacking LGBT+ people? Republicans. Working hard to pass a bunch of "think of the children" bills that will eliminate privacy and allow further attacks on LGBT+ people and women both at the state and federal level? Bipartisan, because reasons.

I always vote, and I vote Democrat. But goddamn am I sick of the party doing the absolute bare minimum and acting like we should be grateful and owe them support simply because voting for the other side is voting for something completely untenable.

So...you believe in at least enough Christianity to think Jesus was real and got crucified. And you want to stop that--and presumably the forgiveness of all our sins--because why? Jesus died to save humanity. It doesn't make much sense to me anymore as an atheist, but there was like a plan and everything for the betterment of humankind.

Growing up, a religious friend of my fantasized about having the power to go back in time and stop Adam and Eve from eating the forbidden fruit. Personally, I'd have raided the Tree of Life for its delicious fruit.

More seriously, I'd take the deal and I suspect most people would if they gave it thought. On top of the secret wish most folks have to fix past mistakes and get a second chance, there is also the reality that the world is kind of in an economic/government overreach/civil rights/climate change death spiral. It'd be nice to live again in a simpler time with more legitimate reasons for feeling optimistic, especially if you understand yourself and what to do differently. And who's to say that if you traveled back in time that everything apart from things you directly touch would be exactly the same? Imagine you travel back in time to the year 2010 and your next door neighbors are playing Yahtzee. Do the dice rolls come out exactly the same as they did in the original 2010, or will they be different? Will all the small, insignificant differences in a second run of events add up to bigger changes? Just by giving the world an unknown do-over, we might get a better outcome.

That possibility alone would make it a moral imperative to take the offer, I think.
