We had both, but we weren't "rich" lol.

Main reason I had a SNES like 2 weeks after it's north america launch is because I got hit by a car as a 7 year old and my dad bought it for me as a get well present. The genesis was my older brother's that was gotten in like, 1992 or something like that.

.....as awesome as it was to have a SNES w/ mario world ahead of every other kid on my block I am not so sure that getting backed over by a car and almost dying was worth it, =/ lol.

Actually got that cheese bridge secret by flying under the goal and my dad n' big bro thought I was a genius. (For whatever reason, no one got the arrow signs implying that there is another goal behind the front one. Eventually found out red levels=2 exits, and just played red levels over and over until I got that shit at some point).

Still wild the amount of stuff a lot of us found out as kids in like, 1990 with barely any guides to help us.

Even during the super serious business moments there is moments in there that makes you crack a smile for a bit before it gets back to the punching and slashing:

How tough the enemies are in general is nowhere near how the zombies where in RE2 remake and RE3 remake though. The ganados in RE4 remake will still flinch with a headshot (unless its one of the bug-head mutating types, then you got a little fight on your hands when you are at the beginning of the game and your guns still aren't upgraded), and getting shot in the arms just fine. Leg flinches will normally take about 2 or 3 bullets, but it is seriously not a issue and shouldn't be compared to the RE2 remake zombies. Leon's melee attacks is still strong as hell (like I said earlier also leon's suplex is still there, you just have to actually go behind enemies when they are in the kneeling state).

This is really obvious in Crowbcat's video about the Halo franchise, where it ends with a montage of teenagers at Halo 3 midnight releases. The video is trying to put forth the narrative that such excitement does not exist in modern Halo players because the series is bad now, when it's actually because Crowbcat and his audience grew up, and they still haven't realized that part of aging is that you gain a wider array of experiences and don't feel literal child wonder in the same way anymore.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/6/0/2/AARkkPAAEYqi.jpg

Holy shit, its amazing how dudes like them just don't consider this. I turned 40 in february, and I am almost positive a lot of us that has been gaming since the late 80s and 90s is around the same age group now. I do agree with a huge part of this though, there is a major difference between a series being right and proper dead for a ton of terrible decisions in comparison to a series that either still is or could generate some excitement but the newer games just aren't for you anymore and possibly need to move on...or more like, have moved on.

As you said, we got older, and if a series stagnates a bit we simply moved on to other games/series (we also have to remember that call of duty 4 came out and it's hype/gameplay kicked the ass of a lot of shooter series at the time. Halo, gears of war (my personal favorite back then), old school PC ones like unreal, quake, wolfenstein, a lot of these games took a fanbase size hit. In the modern day battle royale and hero shooter games also took their cut of the fanbase size). Also, our nostalgia for "the good old days" back when we were kids, no bills, no or barely any work, no super serious worries for the majority of us, our nostalgia is extremely strong for all of our favorite games, TV shows, cartoons, movies, etc. etc. Nostalgia so strong that our memory props up our old favorite games as being these flawless masterpieces whos gameplay, story, music, the art style, the atmosphere, "the heart, the charisma, the passion, the SOUL!" can never hope to be matched.

(It actually blew my mind when a dude propped up original final fantasy 7's basic ATB system as the best jrpg battle system to ever exist (of course crapping on FF7 remake's in comparison). Look, final fantasy 7 is easily my favorite FF game to this day, but it's battle system wasn't doing anything special that FF4, 5, and 6's ATB at a basic level did not already did. It set in stone limit breaks, and the materia system was similar enough to the esper system from the previous game that it was easy to understand, but guy really? Nostalgia is insane). Its the same for music too. How many times have you heard "man hip hop just isn't as good as it was in *insert era when you were a teenager and young adult here*".

I have to stress though that I am not trying to imply that newer games and/or remakes (alongside newer music, movies, TV shows, you know the drill) that get shit on is just nostalgia whining.....if new shit sucks, it just fucking sucks. Just RE4 remake ain't one of the suck ones, lol.

Yes, and the description. He's being sarcastic, but maybe also trying to take some heat off of himself for people who only read the title of videos.

As for the video, he spent a lot of time trying to show that the QTE Krauser knife fight was "better" in the original. But he cut out the whole gameplay knife fight that has their conversation inside the fight itself rather than being a cutscene. He makes it look like in the remake Krauser just comes in, pushes Leon and leaves without talking much.
Hell even the clip near the very beginning was mad dumb, the one comparing the ganado in RE4 remake not going down on their knee in one leg shot in comparison to to the one from the OG game going down right away.

The enemies and how they react to damage is designed alongside the player's abilities in each game. OG resident evil 4 despite the over the shoulder perspective still has the tank controls from the classic game, thus its a bit slower paced. Enemies go down easier since the player cannot move that freely, so when you get swarmed you actually stand a chance.

In RE4 remake its now a much faster paced game. Leon can now take off like a bat out of hell (still not as quick as the characters moved in RE6, but RE4 remake speed is definitely up there, right alongside RE village) in any direction with the sprint and also has a knife parry system, so for enemies to keep up they are now much more resilient. You can still get them on their knees and perform every single melee attack that was in the OG game (at first dudes was thinking that capcom removed melee attacks but nah, every single one is still there. The suplex just got to actually go behind them to do it in the remake), but its going to take a little more effort.

I just felt that one was pretty dumb to compare since that is like basic game design stuff.

To be honest, my opinion on dudes whining about obviously good remakes or sequels pretty much has me writing it all off as "muh nostalgia" and other gamers just needing to find whatever validation they can about these games supposedbly being bad just to make theirselves feel better about missing out via not being able to afford newer platforms to play these games on/can't buy the games in general at this point. (Obviously not crowbat himself since he at least look like he played through RE4 remake (while probably bitchin' all the way that everything is DIFFERENT, lol), but there is way too many gamers out there that opens up with "I haven't played *insert remake/new game here, buuuuut* *insert stupid opinion here about a game they did not play or actually try to find out all the facts about this game in comparison to sticking to bashing echo-chamber videos/forums just for that negative opinion validation* Already decided to hate this new game before it even came out).

No one is denying when a remake or sequel is truly shit like in 2022 saint's row's case, but RE4 remake is nowhere near being a mediocre game let alone bad one, and that especially goes for monster hunter world (it has/still does gotten/gets a bit of heat from the "passionate" classic monster hunter fanbase about too many things being DIFFERENT from the old-style monster hunter games. Too easy, too hand-holding, muh community damn you SOS system (ignores discord or reddit being a thing, or these very boards we are posting on now. Muh take-turn monster rooms), *iceborne releases*, wtf alatreon, arch tempered velkhana and fatalis is too hard you telling me I might have to consider grouping up?!. Etc. etc.) and no matter how much some nostalgic final fantasy fans will kick, scream and moan FF7 remake. Whoa boy final fantasy freakin' 7 remake, the one game the fanbase just can't let it go, lol.

lol, I actually did watch a bit more of the video (still didn't finish it all the way, but it got to the point where I feel I seen enough), but overall the vibe I got is just "muh nostalgia" and "whatever validation I can get for not being able to play RE4 remake (for the viewers and not crowbat himself I mean. He at least played through RE4 remake. More than you can say for all the "I didn't play the game myself yet buuuut *insert stupid opinion for an entire game I did not play here* people) with most other people" the video.

I can agree with the sound design comparisons since the OG team really did went out of their way with that, but that is as far as it goes. The no soul, no charisma (the fuck, lol), not as much camp! (feels like capcom isn't allowed for going with a different vibe of their choosing), and every actual gameplay complaint goes right in the trash can. Dataminers found stuff that strongly implies some of ada's side stuff is on the way so that is whatever.

I also agree that mercenaries might need to be tweaked more, either that or just create more difficult versions with their own leaderboards.

I never actually figured out how kerosene worked >_>
Lol, you just take the container, fill it up at one of the kerosense containers (each container will give you 4 uses, but your kerosene flask can only hold 2 at a time, so you have to backtrack to get the last two uses out of each container), and whenever you "kill" a zombie you just stand over it's body, go to your kerosene flash, and just use it. The character will then crouch down and set them on fire. With chris it just works since he always carries a lighter, but jill has to have the lighter in her inventory also.

You can even burn the zombies that is already lying around and did not get up yet. Man I am actually surprised you dealt with a ton of those crimson heads assuming you killed a few of the zombies. Those shits are the roughest regular enemies in the game imo.

If I pre-ordered in-store chances are it would have been available for me to pick-up, but I had to pick shipping since I never got around to making that in-person pre-order order for it......I probably won't be getting the game in the mail until like 3 days later. I also doubt any other store actually has lose copies just sitting on the shelves. This release's cartridge/disc print appears to have been extremely small.

I only just started posting on reddit so I only have like 590ish karma total, but apparently people really like my random one piece and mario kart posts since I got a good chunk of my karma now from this 1 mario kart post alone.

The TC made a topic that said "I'll make you hate mario kart a little bit more"
(The dude in this clip that the topic creater blasted with a bob-omb had a user name that said "I hate MK")
The guy that got wrecked had mushroom in his hand and was intending to use it to dodge the blue shell blast that was about to hit him since the finish line was practically right there. What the TC did was toss a bob-omb basically right on top of his head, so he basically got screwed since he had to take that bomb blast or the blue-shell would have hit him for using the mushroom early. I replied "He had that mushroom prepped and ready to go too. Ruined that guy's hopes and dreams.

Apparently a lot of people liked that one, and the TC's quote to my post "Just when he thought he had the answer, I changed the question", lol. This is the topic since it was only like 20 days ago:

I rather trust doctor mario compared to doctor waluigi, who would run off with my kidney.

Youtube put up this rpgs on the 3DO video that I let autoplay, and the dude eventually gets to this one dungeons and dragons first person game. Said game has a ton of platforming in it, but for whatever reason they could not find any button to put jump on besides the start button.......definitely is the only video game I can think of that had jump on the start button.

Sure the sega genesis back when it came with a 3 button controller sometimes had to get a little wacky to fit a ton of actions on just 3 buttons....for example it was common in street fighter games to have the buttons swap from punches to kicks when you press start, and mortal kombat games on the sega genesis used to put block on the start button if it was the 3 button controller, but the 3DO controller despite also having 3 buttons had at least 2 more on top of that:

They could have put like, magic or whatever the hell on select or somethin' and put jump on that 3rd button, lol.

X8 was surprisingly fun after the dumpster fire that was X7. I liked how zero gained different melee weapons, axl actually standing out from X with getting different guns, and X's custom armor thingy being alright. I also wasn't a fan of dividing upgrades like in X5, X6, and X7, so X8 actually fixed that by making them something you just buy with the in-game currency from the shop.

The main X8 negative I can think of is the game having a real freaking trashcan of a bike level. Really coulda' did without all that.

Yeah I liked mega man 11's ost enough. Blast man's stage was my favorite, but I also liked impact man's, tundra man's, fuse man's, and I really like the instrumental version of acid man's stage.

Really grown to like the gear stage theme since I replayed the first 1 so many damn times to get a good time on it. (Went for the platinum trophy and maaaaaan the first gears stage clapped my asscheeks).

Honestly overall I feel like the game had a better ost than mega man 5 and mega man 8's.

Also that unholy fusion of iris and colonel is really hot and should therefore be the canon version of the characters going forward.
