So, I have only played moments of one of the games at a friends house as a kid, and I enjoyed it. Is every game connected in some way? Is it a 10 game story? Or is each game kinda its own thing? I never properly played through one and it seems very fun

The story is 1-6. Games 3,4,5,6 having 2 versions doesn't change the main canon story. It just changes some plot elements and gameplay.

Here's my order:

6>3>2>1>>5>>4

Liberation missions were booty hole and dark chips lowering your max health is also booty hole. I think the puzzles in five were also a pain in the ass.

One is better than four and five just because it's barebones Battle Network. Also you'll notice the first entry has the least folder restrictions so you can find a great chip to abuse and throw like 10 of the same chip in there. There's some potential to abuse the lack of rules.

I agree about your statements about 5 and 4 but I disagree about how you see 1. You see the lack of restrictions as a plus. I see it as a negative. It felt like there wasnt even an attempt in balancing. Even then, you cant ignore how unsophisticated the game was. Navigating the net was a freaking nightmare. The constant freezing of gameplay to activate every chip combined with the terrible net made the game a chore. To top it off, it was piss easy. There is a reason that BN2 destroyed the first game. Many consider that the true beginning of the BN series because they innovated so much and fixed so many problems with BN1.

Say what you want about 4 and 5. At least they were somewhat difficult at times. At least the gameplay overall was much more intuitive even with 4s horrible decision to make Dark Chips cost you HP permanently. I dont even think that is what made BN4 truly bad. I believe the short campaign and making people replay it many times over to complete the game was its biggest flaw. It was like the game wasnt finished. The more I think about BN1, the worse it gets. I truly think thats nostalgia talking. BN1 barely feels playable compared to the rest of the games

I plan to replay them all but for me I actually didnt play the first one until after already playing 2+3, maybe even 4. #2 was my entry for the series, and strangely enough it was a game I randomly picked up used a gamestop because I thought it looked fun.

Funny enough, 2 was almost my entrance to the series. I played a friends game for the first time and fell in love. I also deleted his save file thinking there were multiple saves but I dont want to talk about that LMAO

As someone who got a very important save deleted before. Why do people just delete others saves in general without asking or telling the person?

I didnt delete it on purpose. The main menu had New Game and Continue. I thought Continue had multiple saves. It didnt. It was like Pokmon.

I didnt notice in the original but at Water Works Ms Madd has jiggle physics lol.

Also Capcom kept the original translation error when you first meet Protoman. Load Chaud, sir!

Low on cash so I can't get it right now but I would really like to play all of the games. I own 5 and 6 for the gba and really liked them. I know 1 is like a beta and 4 is the worst one though, but I might as well get all the games for 60 anyway.

If you have the digital version on Switch, there is a bug that will cause the game to crash when jacking in to the power plant comp after the story scenario in BN1. It's confirmed to affect multiple people. So make sure you get RingZap1-3 on your first go-through if you don't want to restart your game.

Alright I got a physical copy! GameStop had one for same day delivery and they delivered. Kind of silly it was through Uber but hey I got my physical copy now.

Lol actually surprised the hell out of me when I bought that game hired gun necromunda from gamestop's online store on a random whim at like 2:30am and some uber driver dude just pulled up and dropped it off on my doorstep at 10:45am. I can't complain, love that lazy man convenience.

Does this effect the Steam version?

None that I encountered so far. A smooth 60 fps. It looks almost identical to the GBA games so idk how they could mess that up lol.

I tried finding someone to battle last night on 6, and got no bites. Maybe it was just too late, but I'm hoping more people get the Steam version.

Yeah, 1 is the worst game since there's no option to run from the battles. You have to use a chip which sucks. It's a shame they didnt add some features in from the DS version of 1. That one has a dedicated run from battle function.

Yeah, no, not at this price. $60 for "ten" games (actually six, just with two slightly different versions for each of the last four) is kinda ass after Zero/ZX collection was six for $30. Definitely waiting for a discount here.
