I don't get where you guys are getting this from.

In RE2 he's directly shown working with a team, in 4th survivor he's spends half the few lines he gets telling the pilot to get the fuck out of dodge

And in CV (I think) the note from HUNK is him complaining to Umbrella that not being given vital details on classified missions puts his men in danger.

The fact he always comes out alive isn't because he's a Frank Horrigan style brute. It's because the missions are so deadly and dangerous everyone else dies. Which if you recall is exactly what happens to most RE Protags.

We don't know much about him, except that he's Umbrella through and through though, and if being the sole survivor is a common occurance with him, that makes it all the more suspicious, kinda like how in RE3 Nikolai knowingly intends to be the sole surviving Umbrella supervisor, by eliminating all other supervisors.

I would say Bravo with Alpha second, but that's mainly because I'm only familiar with Sherry and Sheva in the other teams. And the only reason Bravo edges out Alpha is because I wouldn't exactly feel comfortable around a guy nicknamed the Grim Reaper who's known to be the sole survivor of missions. Ada is bad too, but at the very least I would think that she wouldn't try anything funny as long as it's not her job to steal something. I assume in a life or death situation with a mutual goal she would be helpful, whereas Hunk has that "Fuck you I got mine" attitude and would probably shoot through you to hit a zombie :<

Good point. I pick Team Alpha but change Hunk for Tofu.

I'm ok with this if the writers at least put some thought into it, in the sense that there are circumstances to justify the situation. This is because I appreciate thought-out world building, which adds to effective suspension of belief. Yes, this applies to other things than ethnicity as well.

For instance, in a medieval-based fantasy setting, it's usually not common for the vast majority of people to travel around a lot. Most people just stay in one place their entire life. If someone looks and sounds completely different than other people in a specific region, that can be justified by saying that that person has a travelling profession, like a trader, sailor or mercenary (for example they did this a couple of times in Vikings).
If something takes place in a big centrally-located (coastal) city, that's a solid reason for there to be all kinds of ethnicities (which for example they did with the city of Qarth in Game of Thrones).

Real-life-based scenarios can be more difficult in this matter, especially if this takes place in a setting where certain ethnicities were very much treated as less than others.
One can choose to ignore all of those circumstances, just cast all kinds of ethnicities and simply not mention why that makes sense. This can work, provided it's not blended with elements like discrimination (which was very clearly the case in the last season of Legends of Tomorrow), as such story-telling elements in a historical do clearly conflict with the presence of an ethnically diverse cast.

Tldr version: I am fine with ethnically diverse casting, though I do appreciate it if it contextually makes sense.

I never really noticed it before the controversy around it and gamers cancelling it on general principle, despite some of them loving everything about the game itself.

If I look up reviews about it, people mostly go on between how it's either the best writing ever or most boring writing ever. I enjoy a good deep-going story, but is there at least enough gaming involved to actually call it a game (as opposed to an interactive novel)?

What is your experience with the game and why is that exactly?

SGU season 1 was so cringey, it was like they were trying to have soap opera in space. It's like the creators decided to make a series out of this parody clip from the SG-1 season 10 episode '200':
https://youtu.be/3_C_PefoE4o

Season 2 was a bit better imo. A little less dramatic whining and a little more focus on the situation at hand. The quasi religious Ancient-related stuff that was left completely unexplained was still cringey, but aside from that season 2 was ok enough to watch.

As for SGA, I generally liked it. Not nearly as strong as SG-1, but overall enjoyable.
I especially like Ronon, which I think was basically Jason Momoa's ramp up to his iconic image of performing beast-like roles. You can also tell this from Momoa having a relatively normal physique when he's first introduced, and by the end of the series he's the muscled beefcake beast we all know and love.

I always forget Enterprise exists. It's the only live action Trek series I've seen zero episodes of. THAT concept really intrigues me too. Isn't it like set during the beginnings of Starfleet? Or like some of the first ships to go on missions..? I'll give it a try eventually.

It's takes place during the earlier years of the Starfleet, but before the Federation is established. The first two seasons are pretty slow (as seems to be common with ST series) and are mostly episodes along the lines "this was the origin of this technology, and that was first contact with that species".

The third and fourth seasons are really good though. A shame it got cancelled after that, because I feel it could've been so much more fleshed out.

Batman was released after game of thrones ended, so how does this logic hold up

It's a comparison.

"Omg I love GoT, it's so awesome and we're all watching it!"
"Ugh, season 8 felt so rushed. If they had taken their time and added a few more episodes, it would've been better."
"Actually, season 8 was straight up bad. So was season 7."
"You know what, season 6 sucked too and the series was already going downhill with season 5."

Of course several people on CE will claim that they've always held the latter opinion, but the above train of thought was literally how CE in general reacted throughout the years since the later GoT seasons until the present day, in that order.

The same thing applies to a lot of other movies/series/franchises in a similar fashion, including the most recent Batman movie. Upon release CE loved it, but now apparently it's considered to be bad.

If we're gonna compare the two we should definitely be focusing on the more classic material (or at least no later than the early 2000s), as the majority of series and movies from both franchises released after that is considered to be not very good in comparison, to say the least.
