just because something isn't going to be 100% effective immediately doesn't mean that it's not a solution worth working towards, or that we should work towards something going the opposite way instead. jfc, this is the same kind of rhetoric that anti-vaxxers use because vaccines aren't 100% effective immediately so therefore we should all just eat horse paste instead.

If we'd stayed inside for three weeks, COVID would have died out. That's not the reality we face. The reality we must deal with is living in a world where other people are selfish and put their needs above those of others. You can't control them (except through force). You can really only react to what is rather than what should be.

If you want to avoid COVID, your best option is to get vaccinated, stay boosted, and avoid crowds -- especially in highly conservative locations. If you want to minimize gun violence, being prepared to intercept guns or people with guns is more rational than asking people who are willing to kill to willingly surrender their weapons.

more guns is NOT A solution

There isn't a solution. Hunger may have a solution. Disease may have a solution. Gun violence in America is something that can only run its course. If you try and take guns away, people who value their firearms more than human life will just keep them in secret or use them on innocent people in retaliation for having "their rights" taken from them. Besides, the police don't want to be tasked going door to door collecting guns because they know that many of them will be shot at and killed too.

It will be at least three generations before we see an America in which gun violence is not a daily reality. In the interim, being ready for the threat of violence makes more since than hoping it doesn't happen again.

Personally I don't think anyone should look at a character's inclusion as a "not my character"-slot but that's whatever. I wish Venom got in but I'm not gonna hate every other Marvel character in the game over it.

I guess that's fair enough. A raccoon with a gun seems like fair consolation for any omission.

Maybe we should employ wizards who have the power to make guns in America magically disappear.

I don't like the thought of metal detectors in school doorways and armed guards in the hallway, but it's a far more realistic solution than "guns have got to go." There are literally more firearms than people in the US.

Also, Marvel should have used the video game market to hype up the next series villain -- Kang the Conqueror or whoever. The MCU really feels dead without a "main villain."

Once you've raised the stakes high enough, you can't lower them again and leave them lower indefinitely. This would be like if, I don't know, James Bond stopped a terrorist from taking over the world then spent the remainder of the series taking on low level mob bosses. With all due respect, who cares if someone leaves Spider-Man dead in an alleyway? We had the fate of billions on the line. More than that if you factor in space races.

I saw it a few years ago when it showed on Turner Classic Movies. It's really not that bad aside from the use of yellowface. He has a thick accent in the opening scene, but that's part of his disguise. It goes into the theme of people only seeing what they want to see and only hearing what they want to hear. I'd be disappointed if they left that out of a remake.

For what it's worth, Tony Randall played the hell out of that part.

The third one is such a disappointment.

Given how limited the gameplay is in beat 'em ups, graphics are important. I appreciate what they were going for with the branching paths, with branching paths to emulate the arcade experience, but it really wasn't worth the sacrifice. I was going to say that they'd just make Tyris Flare less attractive. But considering how Blaze Fielding looked and dressed in Streets of Rage 4, I'd be fine with it so long as the same team was involved. It's not like there's really all that much room to complain about her wearing an objectifying outfit since she technically wears more clothing than her male counterpart.

The character has the build of Chong Li from Bloodsport and the hair of Tong Po from Kickboxer. Since Johnny Cage was modeled after Jean Claude Van Damme, it can be presumed that the game's creators were fans of Van Damme's movies.

The similarities are likely intentional.

The rumor is Dan Castelleneta is forbidding Disney from adding it. If that's true, it's one more reason why I think Simpsons should be cancelled.

Castelleneta replaced Robin Williams in the first sequel and the TV series. He had his lines fully recorded for the second sequel when Disney mended their bridge with Williams. I'm assuming he was still paid since his lines were recorded, but I could wholeheartedly understand resentment if he was shortchanged. Either way, I want my damned Aladdin.
