Got a 30 year, but at this rate we'd be done around the 15 year mark

Total monthly payment (incl escrow) is 1k
Lately we've been paying 2k per month to pay it down quicker.
We decided to overpay since we maxed out IRAs and are getting our matches with 401k.

At our current monthly payment amount, we will pay off the house in 50ish more months.

I can't wait to not have a mortgage and taking that money and using it elsewhere.

I agree wholeheartedly. These companies just can't wait to get us over a barrel and hit us with every late fee and penalty possible the moment we are a day late on a payment. No matter that we've never had an issue for the prior ten years.

Assuming these parents weren't trying anything and that there is some magic recipe in which to always calm a baby down. Oh and that it's feasible to never travel in an airplane with your kid because it may start crying and upset other passengers
