Nioh 2 is a decent get. The other two are a pass for me.

I agree. The tutorial really makes sparing enemies seem less like a moral choice and more like just playing the game correctly.

Yeah I'm with Tony here. Weed is way more popular than you'd think, at least in my area. And a huge amount of that popularity is with people who are like 60+. Easy win for dems if they decide to actually do something useful and popular for once.

I dunno if I care about the plot in Bayonetta but I definitely care about the spectacle, which I would be inclined to count as part of the broader category of story.

I would definitely not play Bayonetta - or even more so MGR since that one was mentioned - if they were just gameplay with all the cutscenes and dialogue excised.

Altena's niche isn't being useful in gameplay, Altena's niche is speedrunning the entire plot of FE Fates in like 10 minutes, with herself as Corrin.

I basically agree with your takes on FE4. Imbalanced, major pacing issues, hard to play blind. But also amazing, particularly the story. Plus I just love the 80s anime aesthetic. Glad you enjoyed it!

I think the ending changes depending on who the kids parents are, since its all about who is the heir to which kingdom. Maybe thats why its been so difficult to translate.

IIRC it's not just this but also who married whom in Gen 2 and with changes if anyone's dead. Sounds like a nightmare to translate, not to mention programming it to begin with.

Gotta keep in mind too that the average American is extremely uninformed about politics. I don't even mean day-to-day politics but like. The average American doesn't know how a president is elected or how long a representative serves or how a bill becomes law or that there's a difference between state senators and US senators from a particular state. It's difficult to answer the question of "are Americans okay with fascism" because very few could even tell you what that is and even less would be correct about it if they did.

So swing voters exist because some people vote randomly, or on vibes, or based on this year's propaganda or whatever. I'm not convinced that fully informed swing voters exist in any appreciable number.

I did the dumb Seliph/Julia meme and I don't know what I expected but it is 100% not worth it. There's no dialogue or anything and it slows the game way wayyy down because you have to devote 4 units to it. IIRC the glitch also tanks their base affection to 0 for no apparent reason so you can't even start from 490 and be done quickly.

Much like the "save Quan and Ethlyn" glitch, it's interesting but a complete waste of time.

Best FE villain to me is for sure either Arvis or Travant. Julius and Manfroy are definitely letdowns in comparison.

You're actually supposed to sacrifice a unit to them which will cause them to leave. You can then revive the unit with the Valkyrie Staff.

Personally I used the sleep sword then nuked Julius with Ichival lol

I'll second being glad you weren't spoiled. I wasn't exactly spoiled but I had picked up on most of the big deaths just from participating in the FE community. I still found the actual events and how you have to kind of... participate in them during gameplay (if that makes sense) to be shocking in a way most video game death scenes aren't. Very raw game.

There's a theory (? Not sure if it was ever confirmed) that each kid was supposed to be tied to a specific parent, so you'd have different sibling pairs depending on who you matched up. Even if true it doesn't mean each kid in the actual game was designed with that in mind, but you can definitely see a resemblance in a few of them to potential dads. I could see a remake trying to go back to that idea if they wanted to do a little more than just hair colors.

One would probably have better luck asking people to just pirate a game than to boycott it, because gamers throw a fuckin fit if they think you're trying to take away their toys.

I mean, some people I know would love to get 4000$ . If its only 16 hours of recording 250$ is still way more an hour than most people I know make. My last job I made 9 dollars an hour. If I was offered 4000$ for 16 hours of work I would easily take it.

FE1 kinda was built around unit death though. There are already a ton of units that really only exist to replace dead units, the gaiden chapters just add to that.

Admittedly, the series had moved on by FE11, so instead of understanding that it's just pity units/EXP for bad players, people thought it was like. The game incentivizing intentional unit death.
