| Seanchan 11/27/22 11:42:48 PM #20 | 6 fates done in Obra Dinn. I'm in the I find parts of this game to be very annoying. The aesthetic choice sometimes makes it difficult to figure out what the fuck I'm looking at. Also, trying to correctly categorize the death that I'm seeing. The biggest annoyance though is how you'll be surveying a scene and then it does that whole "fade out" thing to go to the notebook. I've gotten to the point that I don't even bother looking around until after that has happened. Of course, once that does happen, the game then immediately wants to pull you one step backwards to the previous death. I've accidentally hit the space bar a time or two and found myself propelled to the next (i.e. previous) scene before I was ready. I guess that's part of what makes it a mystery is seeing things in reverse. I cannot agree any harder! I hadn't listened to this in years and it was "holy fuck, I forgot how good this is!" What's funny is that while I love this album, I'm not otherwise much of a fan of Green Day. I've enjoyed their various singles/radio hits but never did a deep dive on them, despite being a fan of pop punk (blink, Sum 41, etc.) The follow up to this, 21st Century Breakdown, didn't grab me; I've listened to it but damn if I remember anything about it. And I never listened to their earlier stuff at all. So, after listening to American Idiot, I finally did a listen to Dookie. Hard to get too critical from one listen, but I'll say that it didn't grab me. I will say, my reaction to Planet Caravan was totally different depending upon how I was listening. On my first listen, via earbuds, I was digging its change up style. Second listen was done via car stereo and all the road noise just drowned out all the more subtle parts of the song. Third listen, back on my normal earbuds, and I was like "no, actually this IS a good song!" Wearing a belt has made a huge difference. US will probably finish last in their group. Look for Iran to over perform at what is as close as theyll get to a home World Cup. I do remember Jagged Little Pill being a big deal back in the day but it was still shocking how much of this got significant radio play. Even back then, I remember kind of liking some of the singles. This may be completely off base, but I put Alanis Morissette in that group of what I'll call "female empowerment rock" from that period. My mind started making connections to singles from other female artists of the time like Sarah McLachlan and Melissa Etheridge. Spotify lists Jewel as a related artist, and I was like "oh yeah, she's in that group too!". Basically all the artists that would have headlined Lilith Fair. FYI, Jewel's Pieces of You is another "Jagged Little Pill" for me. Probably heard half that album as radio singles despite never hearing the full thing. She has such a beautiful voice too! The movement feels bad and it is sometimes unforgiving with the enemy placement, movement, and hit boxes. I got through the first two dungeons with no guide, but I then broke down to using an overworld map so I could know where the dungeons and items are. Life is too short and if I had played this as a kid I would have had the time and inclination to map it out, so I'm just taking the shortcut. I've got most/all of the overworld items (hearts, upgrades, etc.). Got stuck on a Darknut room in Level 5, so tried Level 6 and got stuck on a room with Wizrobes and some other bullshit.
