They're pre-hitting 3 of the 4 Ishizu cards coming in the next pack with semi-limits even though they're coming before Tearlaments. In the current OCG banlist, 2 of these are already at 1 while the other mentioned (and the 4th Ishizu card not mentioned here) is still at 3, while in the TCG all 4 of them are limited to 1. Clearly Konami already knows how much of a problem these cards are, and I could even see them limiting these even further right before Tearlaments come to the game. Also, one of them is confirmed to be a UR, but no word on the rarities of the other 3.

I'm considering burning through N/R materials to make every N/R card in all of my decks glossy. I've already done it for my favorite decks (Sky Strikers on my main account, Eldlich on my side account, Kozmo on both accounts) so now I might go all the way and do it for all of them.

If only N/R cards could be royal...

Plus, it's basically impossible to completely avoid using all of the emblems of one gender or the other. Marth is forced onto Alear in chapter 22 and you need to use Alear to beat that chapter so it's impossible to not use a male Emblem in a playthrough. I think Lucina is forced onto Alear at one point too, but even if she's not, beating the miasma-flooded chapter 15 without the terrain-altering effects of the Corrin or Camilla rings sounds like an absolute nightmare and not worth the suffering.

But, give up on Vander, he's not meant to be used once you get enough units to no longer need to deploy him. Dude's growth's are mud. He's never gonna get better and his experience gain is even worse.

There are a total of 19 playable male characters (including Alear) and 14 team slots in the late game chapters, so that means 5 characters will be benched at some point. Vander will probably be one of them, but the challenge of trying to make him usable with Tiki and reclassing sounds interesting.

They're so sure that Joey Gallo is incapable of hitting the ball the other way that they're willing to leave all of left field open and risk an easy triple just to still be able to shift on him.

The shift didn't end up mattering on this plate appearance anyways because he drew a walk.

I used Tiki on Alear for most of my current girls-only playthrough (because if I'm going to be forced to bring her in every chapter, having her be OP is nice) then swapped her to Timerra later (she was falling behind a bit stat-wise, plus it helps her bulk even without engaging).

I eventually plan to do a guys-only playthrough to balance out my current girls-only one, so I might give her to Vander (or at least have him inherit the skill that increases growths) to make him more usable in that playthrough.

Apparently the next DLC wave with the Robin/Chrom and Veronica rings is coming next week (March 8) which is sooner than I expected. Maybe the rumors that this game was completely finished and sitting release-ready on a shelf for a whole year because they really wanted to release the planned Genealogy remake first but that second team/project fell so far behind that they were forced to release this game first were true after all, because it sure seems like they had all of this DLC ready to go out the door.

I think I'm going to put my current second playthrough on hold until after this batch drops, just in case the new rings are really good or they add some cool quality-of-life changes along with the update like they did with the previous batch.

Ripperoni sliced up Hijinx, I took a break to cook a microwave mini Digiorno pizza for dinner during the commercials, and then End Game ripped apart Hypershock to cap off a pretty fun episode. Not really any super amazing fights or incredible KO's, but I think every fight was good with no duds.

Ribbot may have lost, but that was definitely a case of "I didn't hear no bell" with how they were clinging to life and still keeping their weapon pointed at the opponent despite having 2 wheels ripped clean off. They're 0-3 now, but their losses are all to great bots, so a win in their last fight combined with that strength of schedule might be enough to sneak in.

While we await Malice's appeal, Mad Catter and Big Dill just delivered an absolute slobberknocker of a fight. 3 solid minutes of grinding away and knocking chunks off of each other, and although Mad Catter won the judge's decision, Big Dill looked great in that fight.

Malice vs. Valkyrie ends in a brutal double KO, leading to a judge's decision. Malice seemed to lose its weapon functionality but Valkyrie got its weapon ripped clean off... and the judges gave it to Valkyrie!? Bullshit!

In fact, it's bullshit enough that Malice is appealing the decision, the first use of the new appeal rules introduced this season...
which is successful! The decision is overturned and Malice wins!

And because of those highly effective big-ass shifts, batting averages across the league were lower than they had been in half a century. Offense was in the shitter, so they had to do something. The last time averages across the league were that low, the league lowered the pitching mound.

IT'S ROBOT FIGHTIN' TIME! Gruff vs. last season's runner-up Witch Doctor leads off the show, and Witch Doctor absolutely demolished Gruff in a dominant win. Gruff used to be one of the toughest bots in the competition a couple of years ago, but it seems like the weapons across the sport have caught up to it. They may need to go back to the drawing board after this season.

Also, that opening promo from Ripperoni to start the show was hilarious.

I think it will end up cutting down on game time based on what we've seen in spring training. At the very least, it'll counteract the (hopeful) increase in offensive production from banning the shift, so that games will be about as long as before but with more action and scoring.

I heard the presentation being more obvious like that is just for spring training so that pitchers and fans can get adjusted to it, and that it'll be off-screen and not as intrusive for regular season games.

Pitch clock = Fantastic change, already making a huge difference in game times.
No shift = Tentatively liking it, but I need to see how batting averages across the league are looking after a month or two of regular season games before I fully judge it. This could end up being worthless if hitters are still striking out too much and not putting the ball in play often enough.
Bigger bases = Good change for safety reasons, plus it should hopefully encourage more aggressive base-running in conjunction with...
Limit on disengagements from the mound (as part of pitch clock rules) = Also good, but I think limiting it to only 2 per plate appearance is a bit too restrictive. The rule needs to exist so pitchers can't get around the pitch clock by stalling with pick-offs attempts, but I think a limit of 3 would have been better.

Also, it wasn't added this year, but I'm pretty sure it was finalized to be staying around for good this year so I may as well lump it in:

Extra inning rules (AKA the "Manfred Runner") = I still think they should wait until the 12th inning and not start right at the 10th, but overall, I like this rule. The fewer 15+ inning long-ass marathon games where benches/bullpens get depleted, the better.

EDIT: Forgot about the DH being in both leagues now. Definitely a good change. I would have also been fine with no DH in either league too. My gripe was always with the AL and NL having different DH rules leading to a competitive balance issue, so both of them being the same is what I wanted no matter which direction they took it in.

I ended up benching Chloe and changing Veyle to a Wolf Knight. Her stats blow Chloe's out of the water after the class change.

I've actually been using her as a Sage for most of the game, and I only just switched her to High Priest because she hit the Luck stat cap as a Sage and High Priest has a cap in that stat that's 8 points higher. I want to turn her into a money farm with her personal skill, and that requires her Luck stat being as high as possible. In general, Anna is much better in a magic class because her natural magic growth of 50 is insane compare to a paltry 15 in strength. But you have to switch her to a magic class early on (either right when you first get her or promote her at level 10 and then immediately switch her then) to fully take advantage of it. Having her in a pure physical class feels like a waste IMO, but I suppose she could go mixed and make good use of magic weapons like the Radiant Bow thanks to her magic growth.

I'm leaning towards either Panette or Chloe as the girl I bench for Veyle. Panette is statistically my weakest pure physical unit, since she doesn't have the sheer strength or bulk that Jade does, but she's also slow and gets doubled by enemies that Lapis, Timerra, and Goldmary don't. Chloe isn't working as well as I hoped she would as a mixed attacker, so in reality she feels like a mage with too many points wasted on her strength stat and not enough on her magic and speed, so Anna, Ivy, and Hortensia outperform her. Plus, Veyle would be fulfilling a similar role to Chloe as a mixed attacker, since I plan to class change her to either a Mage Knight to make her identical to Chloe (but with much better stats) or to a Wolf Knight so she can have better speed but still use her unique dagger to do magical attacks. Everyone else besides Panette and Chloe either has a unique niche that I can't give up despite them not having great stats (like Etie being my only bow user) or does the same jobs that Panette and Chloe do but better.

Am I the only person here who just doesn't play this game at all for the first 2 days of the month after the seasonal reset? I boot up the game for the daily login gems, but I don't play any games for the first 2 days. Then on day 3, once I have all 9 daily missions sitting in my list, that's when I start playing for the month, and I only redeem the 3 easiest missions each day so those 3 constantly refresh and I don't waste time doing more annoying ones. I feel like taking that 2 day break away from the game each month helps keep me from getting burned out, plus what I mentioned about manipulating the daily missions to redo the same 3 easy ones makes doing dailies less stressful.

Like I said - I've only ignored maybe 3 of my characters (also I guess the two that came with Ivy, who I JUST got) and haven't had any problems. In past FE games (especially the GBA games) I felt it waaay harder spreading exp too thin.

The level curve ramps a lot more in the second half of the game, especially compared to other recent FE games. It's not as rough as the GBA/GC era games, but it's tougher than the recent 3DS/Switch era games.

Yes, they do. The most crossover you'll see between the staffs of two Precure series one after the other might be some individual animators or episode directors, but the core staff (director, writers, character designer, etc.) are cycled each year with each new series.

The director of Soaring Sky worked as an episode director for a few past entries (Heartcatch, Suite, Doki Doki) and also directed a couple of the early All-Stars crossover movies, but this is their first time being the main director for a Precure series. Meanwhile, the person in charge of series composition is actually brand new to the Precure franchise entirely, and the only series they've worked on before that I've watched at all is Tales of Symphonia the Animation, which I really enjoyed. The character designer is also brand new to Precure, and based on the idol-y designs and the idol influence in the transformations, it shouldn't be a surprise that they're a former Love Live character designer.

Just a heads up: that's a terrible idea in this game. There's simply not enough experience to go around to use that many different characters all the way through without becoming severely underleveled, especially because the amount of deployment slots you get in major battles is fairly low compared to past FE games. Even worse, the skirmishes you can use for free grinding scale to Alear's level, so if Alear becomes too high leveled (which they most likely will if you spread your experience too thin like that since you're required to bring Alear in every major battle) then it'll become impossible for units that fall well behind Alear's level to catch up. It's very possible to make the game completely unwinnable and have to start all over because you won't be able to beat the next chapter and you won't be able to grind either.

The closest thing to "using everybody" you can do in this game is to constantly rotate out your weakest older units for newer ones that you recruit later, because the mid/late-game characters in this game are actually really good and sometimes just straight-up outclass the earlier units. Generally, you want to just focus on a core of like 12-14 or so characters most of the way and ignore everyone else. The most characters you can bring in a battle is 12 until the very latest chapters of the game where it goes up to 14, so you don't need more than that.

If I had a nickel for every time I was told "you need to get a college degree or your life is essentially worthless" while growing up, then I'd probably have enough nickels to pay off a good chunk of my college debt. A process that will leave someone tens of thousands of dollars in debt potentially for decades shouldn't be thrust onto high-schoolers who barely even fully understand their current lives.

Every game I've wanted recently (which hasn't been very many) has been on Switch or last gen consoles, so I've had no reason to make the jump.

Yes, I'm a huge baseball fan. Pretty much every night of the season I have a baseball game on, whether it's a local Cards game or a nationally televised game. Sometimes they might be on the second TV if something else (like wrestling or BattleBots) has more of my focus that night though.

I thought those games were funny too, but for the sake of player safety, I'm glad they added the ghost runner rule to get rid of them.

Ch 21-22 is like quintessential Engage. Great narrative stages, possibly best in the series, briskly interesting story bits, fun combat, then for every good thing, they muddle it with dumbass dialogues, horrendous cutscene framing (characters literally standing around when their strongest guy is getting blasted by limitless chad lasers, bad guys just letting characters have a lengthy speech), and voice actress of Alear overacting on shittily written dialogues.

Oh, I'm very aware of how ridiculous the story gets at this point.

Sword/Shield started with a regional Pokedex of exactly 400 Pokemon and ended with about 660 Pokemon accessible in total after all of the DLC was complete. Scarlet/Violet also started with a regional Pokedex of exactly 400 Pokemon, so I think a similar number to Sword/Shield (maybe slightly more considering we have more Pokemon in total now) is a good guess for the final count of these games. I'll guess about 700.
