I guess it's not bad, but despite thoroughly liking '60s/'70s rock music, I don't really see why some people consider Pink Floyd to be literally the best music ever, let alone why they proudly admit they feel smart for thinking so.

I have no doubt that Disney limits the potential of their movies to simple-minded straightforward stuff. Still, Johnson wrote and directed it. Disney either approves or disapproves his work, but he chose to go with this, and he could've chosen to do it differently, yet acceptable by Disney's standards.

TFA was good imo. Maybe the same formula as ANH, but good enough to make to long for a sequel. TLJ was so disappointingly and jarringly bad that I didn't even want to go see TROS.

Rian Johnson is not a bad director, and or writer. His films outside starwars are not bad. And even clever to some aspects. Disney controls starwars. Johnson does not. They create the recipe, he cooks it.

Subverting expectations for the sake of subverting expectations was definitely his call though.

When I go for a run in the winter, and sometimes when I'm off to pick up a quick grocery or two.

I'll never ever wear slippers outside though (or even get them). I find them unpractical, I'd get the feeling I'm more likely to stub my toe, and I want to be able to run at any given moment.

Nowadays, I kinda have the feeling I'm a little more disciplined than most people my age. Not sure if there's a connection, but I do know I don't feel traumatized about that.

Homeschooling is allowed as one of the forms of mandatory education. What exactly the rules are probably vary by state. I know in Ohio its at least through 6th grade you have to have some form of schooling. We had an Amish girl in our class who started bawling at 6th grade graduation, then we found out she was being pulled out of school at that point. Dont know if it was a religious exemption or not though.

I reckon the parents would have to prove somehow that they're actually providing their child with an education in some shape or form, right? Or is simply saying "muh religion" enough?

Speaking as a non-American here, aren't there laws preventing this, like compulsory education? Or is this something where the U.S. is like "Eh, each state can figure that out for themselves. They'll probably make it work somehow, right?"

Personally I find it worrying that some people have several. It kind of smells like an indicator of the "live now, pay later" mentality.

Mostly computers being uncooperative. Especially when a video game is obviously cheating, because it just can't stand me being so good at it.

And glass/ceramic objects breaking, though I think that's mostly an instinctive knee-jerk reaction burned in due to my mother always angrily freaking out when something fragile falls over.

Marriage is completely unnecessary and certainly not a longterm and/or lifelong prerequisite relationship. Sometimes I think a lot of people who want to get married actually think they're 'supposed' to do that due to a certain ideal view they have from they grew up with of what life is supposed to be like.

I can kind of understand getting married for tax benefits etc, though if it's mostly for that, there's really no reason to have an overly elaborate ceremony around it with a 5/6/7-digit price tag. Personally I hope the civil union construct becomes commonplace. In some countries that's a legal equivalent of marriage, without actually getting married.

I got some bad news buddy. At my old age of 24, I basically cursed myself to an existence of never getting to truly be "great" at chess. It will take someone our age 10x the work all the while having 10x less time it would take someone who started at a young age, pre-10, to become brilliant at chess.
