I hate it when the game has collectibles and they make other things like say for instance lights that are the same colour as the collectible so you think you have found one of the collectibles but you haven't.

Annoys the hell out of me.

Cluttered open world maps. BotW showed how it should be done, catch up, rest of the industry.

Unskippable cut scenes.

Consecutive skippable cut scenes, aka skipping one cut scene only to immediately see another cut scene pop up.

Cut scenes that take place after a save spot that replay, skippable or not, if you die and restart an area or a boss fight.

Not having a clear and easy to read weapon/armor/item comparison screen. You should be able to tell at a glance if any new item is better than what you have equipped.

Not having a pause option.

Forced and shoehorned-in online functionality/intrusions.

Clunky controls and pathfinding that freak out when you deviate from a set path.

NPCs that you travel with that move faster than your walk speed but slower than your run speed.

When games have a large number of collectibles but no way to keep track of which ones you already got, so you have to go the whole game without collecting any and then glue yourself to a map and get them all in one go.

Being forced to walk is the worst thing in games imo. Like going inside a building and having to walk for some reason. Or following an NPC and being forced to walk. It's weird because they're trying to make it more immersive by making you walk but it pulls me out if anything.

Babysitting. Its kind of what killed Hyrule Warriors for me. It got SO annoying being on the other side of the map trying to do something and then have one or the characters be like p-pwease drop what youre doing and come help me, we cant take care of ourselves over here

  • Cutscenes that you can't skip second time around (except for heavily story-oriented games like The Quarry or Heavy Rain)
  • Escort missions
  • Missions that make you play in an overcautious way that is counterintuitive to the rest of the game (like a don't-scratch-the-car level in GTA)
  • Open world games that leave you halfway across the map rather than taking you back to the mission start point if you fail.

Being rushed when it's absolutely unnecessary.

Call of Duty became so annoying with that. RDR2 pissed me off the most though. Why even had a loot option if they don't want you doing it?

You could clear out 15 guys in the middle of nowhere, tell your crew "yall head back while I check around". 10 seconds after they leave, you loot 2 people and bam "Crime reported!"

Enemies lasering you from waaaaaay beyond the range of the weapon they are using. Like pinpoint accuracy with an SMG from sniper rifle range.

Getting stuck on an ankle high obstruction, or a protruding nail in a doorway.

Fighting game AI that allows them to accomplish things no human player could, like skipping animation frames so attacks come out quicker.

Tryhards.

Artificial exclusivity. "No, we can't bring that cosmetic item back 10 years after it was relevant, even if you're willing to buy it, because some shut-in clown might squirt some tears that his is not as special any more."
