Typical fitness advice is below 10% is not sustainable and makes you feel miserable, but seems like you (and other people I know) dont have an issue. Im doing a big cut now, below 10% for the first time in my life (5 9, 155 lbs) and I dont feel that bad at all. Most the time layoffs happen the people get a severance package, their job is gone but they still get a few weeks or more of paychecks.
