It's a testament of how much a mindshare can control a fandom. Also gave Square Enix the first green light that they could do whatever they wanted without reprocussion. It's finally starting to pay them back 20 years later when they highly invested into the NFT scam and are potentially in a position where some of their IPs are going to be bought out. Tales of Veseperia is a midling entry to the series, with characters that do not play very well (compared to both Symphonia and Abyss as they share the same development team). At the time Team Destiny produced way better games (Destiny DC and Graces f) than Team Symphonia, but in the end when the two teams merged we just got garbage (besides maybe Zestiria which has very fluid combat). Also the story is pretty middling. Also Tales games have aged pretty poorly, especially from that era. Very trope heavy from a story perspective. I'm not going to get into how everything that's wrong with FFVII:R is what's wrong with modern Square Enix. They do not even create JRPGs anymore, they just create atmospheric action games (and DQXII is going to have the same issue sadly) with RPG mechanics strapped on them (e.g. they strapped an entire turn based battle system onto an action game to please fans after they got negative press they did not expect). The recent rumors that Sony could buy the rights to the series are really interesting as this type of game is what makes Sony successful. Xenoblade will always be a knockoff of an actual good JRPG series (Xenosaga). "Action JRPG" combat that's not highly tuned like Monster Hunter (or the "good" tales games I guess) is always awful. --- Whenever someone sings fansa and they don't input their name instead of mona at the mona-beam part I'm like "Are you even a real aidoru?". |

I used Blazor, cut the fat so much out of the stack, keep a very low line count, and I don't have to worry about Javascript.I recently had to learn Django (learn? It took like an hour), due to having to change our stack at work, and I was actually quite impressed that a backend framework could integrate so many different things seamlessly and as easily as it did (especially when stacked with something that serves wsgi), historically I've done all of my backend integrations manually as that was how I was taught to do it. Still have coworkers that seem to struggle with why it's used and how to properly use it, then again these coworkers still manage to struggle with docker 5 years into using it. Most of the "fun" stuff is when I have to figure out how to do things like take an unprivileged user inside of a container, and execute privileged code on the container's host with the least impact possible (e.g. I don't want to run any software outside of containers). For this current task I think I have a good solution right now, but I hate the idea that I could potentially need another container, but I just don't see a both clean and safe (as in secure) way of enabling a REST API to do what I'm trying to do (without having my endpoints do something "braindead" like use sudo to become privileged). I tohught that was something to aspire to and decided to always work at a company that valued their employees like that. Current company has two people who have worked there for 20 years each. I find it extremely frustrating because I am genuinely trying to try/succeed in my position and I feel like he's actively bringing down the organization (and has been for a few years now). But he's older and ageism and shit. Found it really funny that I as the millennial am working my ass off to try and keep the company successful while this guy as the boomer just sits around and collects a paycheck pushing buttons, likely making more money than me (he definitely lives better than me). A big piece of modern marketing is to heavily invest in content creators to to generate buzz for a product that a company is producing. I'm no marketing person, but it's pretty obvious this has been going on for as long as Web 2.0 has been a thing. Marketing closely works with content creators to promote products in exchange for content creators making money from said products. If your product has enough of a fanbase, content creators may even collude and create a type of heel / face gimmick between them. Most of the people who watch creator's content do not realize this is happening, or actively enjoy the drama. What I find depressing is that there are a lot of people who don't realize this is happening, and that the creators themselves are likely making more money from this than the people watching the videos are making in their own professions. Also there's other points to this, like how games marketing will frequently provide kick backs to these creators such as free loot boxes or other promotional items and money for their continued support of the product.
