It's becoming increasingly harder to receive funding for non-franchise films. Superhero movies just so happen to be THE franchise films right now. Also just the ability to whip up "Instantly revert all villains" syringes for everyone inside 7 minutes Goblin's antidote wasn't whipped up in 7 minutes. His didn't actually work and it required Tobey to make a version that actually does.
