Glad you guys liked Fall! I agree with pretty much everything you say! Really entertaining stuff that somehow kept me interested in the literal tiniest acting space ever.

I did watch Beast though. Absolutely awesome cinematography is probably the best part of it. There's multiple scenes done in one take and it all just looks great. Lion CGI didn't throw me off much at all either. I have problems with the ending, and the whole exposition dump you get at the beginning was also really forced too, but there's a lot of really good, very tense scenes that they do a great job on during the movie. Idris Elba's acting carries it pretty significantly, which shouldn't surprise anyone. But if they didn't try to force a story about their family dynamic in it at all, it would have been almost the same movie.

Just thinking about how it's okay to release a game with a bunch of game breaking bugs because not everyone will experience them.

I should clarify they're shopping the Batman series around to put it somewhere else, but I really can't understand it unless it's like that weird Beware the Batman that heavily featured freaking Magpie over any of Batman's more popular villains.

Somehow they have now decided that a Batman animated series isn't worth their investment.

Unless it's as poorly conceived as that last Batman series was I cannot understand this.

I think it's fine, mostly. Sometimes you just don't catch bugs early enough in development. Or you don't catch them at all. Some bugs only happen sometimes, and it takes time to figure out what causes the bug to occur. Day 1 patches should be super common.

Bruh people literally can't even fight in gameplay and the only thing they can do is walk until they die. They're also answering the phone in their car and it locks the camera so they can't even drive without getting out and getting back in. People take damage from getting out of their car, every time they get out of the car because the door is hitting them!

You can't say "Well somehow they missed this and they can just correct it later." Like no! They cannot actually just miss these things. How do issues like thes make it so far in development and aren't corrected ASAP?

Nobody was even saying Ant-Man was well-known. We were just explaining how comparing Ant-Man's mainstream notoriety to Shang-Chi's is bonkers.

Man Spectacular Spider-Man is another incredible one. They were both victims of the MCU and the idea from those dopes Man of Action or whatever who claimed that kids can't follow overarching plots and can only handle self contained one episode stories.

Edit: Can we all agree that Ultimate Spider-Man was very not good?

Avengers EMH was very popular and only got canceled to put out a show that aligned with the MCU feel and characters, like they did with the rest of their cartoon properties.

He was in that Avengers Super Team by Hickman, plus I think he was on another Avengers team too.

Oh! I see why Shang-Chi is in so many books. It looks like most of his old books were released in other languages entirely because of the Kung Fu boom. That accounts for a lot of them. Plus the re-release other language books he was in.

Comic Vine seems to be a lot more sloppy about that.

I always appreciate your insight in these topics, scarlet. You're a delight and everything you've said here is correct.

I feel the need to stress the importance of a popular kid's show coming out years prior to his movie, while the Avengers boom was happening, where he was a main character is extremely helpful for his notoriety as well. If you're a kid who watched it or an adult with a kid or just an adult flipping through channels and catching it, you'll know Ant-Man existed and was a thing by that alone.

If you're someone who saw Avengers and then went "Let me Google that" then you see Ant-Man popping up as a founding Avenger.

Shang-Chi was buried, absolutely smothered, in comics with barely any room to breathe and hasn't had a single mainstream sighting. Ant-Man has had multiple ones, and most relevant just years before his movie came out. Yeah, he wasn't tremendously popular, but it's still crazy to act like Shang-Chi was on the same level on mainstream appeal when Ant-Man at least had SOME mainstream crossover while Shang-Chi hasn't and you would never hear about him even if you did try looking up a bunch of comic book stuff for whatever reason.

I think the biggest gambles that the MCU has now are probably with the Echo and Ironheart series. Echo just because I don't think anyone really fell in love with the character during Hawkeye, and then Ironheart because man does that character suck. Maybe they'll salvage something out of her. Being in Black Panther should help too.

Here's how you differentiate Ant-Man's popularity from Shang Chi's: Ant-Man was in media before Shang Chi. The most recent appearance before the movies was just a few years prior to his in the fairly popular Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes TV series (which is wonderful and I highly recommend it). He's also appeared in things before that. Shang Chi hasn't appeared in shit.

Before the MCU, you may have heard of a silly ant hero who has been an Avengers regular, but there is no possible way that even if you putzed around surface level in comic books falling down a rabbit hole that you would ever know Shang-Chi. He's actually that obscure.

I don't know that Iron Fist can be as much of a success given the social climate how it is (white savior appropriating Asian culture etc etc etc, we saw the reactions when his TV show came out and I think that's amplified). I think his only shot is if they do Heroes for Hire now.

But Shang-Chi has always been a complete whatever of a character. Utterly uninteresting for the most part. Honestly, I'm still not terribly interested in the character after the movie. It felt like everything and everyone around him was interesting while he just sort of... existed in the middle of it.

Marvels will be fine, I think. I think it's a mistake not to call it Captain Marvel: <Subtitle>, because I think the Captain Marvel name still has a lot of power to it. I'm not sure how strong having Ms. Marvel share billing for it will end up because of how poorly that series was received and how little people watched it.

I hate that I need to go through this awful lore again.

Iblis is either literal fire, a lava fella wearing rock clothes, a lava worm, or a nude lava fella. He doesn't look great in any form imo. He's kinda dull.

Quick version: Iblis is a god of destruction where he can merge with Mephiles and become Solaris and destroy the world. But instead they put it into Elise where if Elise cries then Iblis gets released because ???. Eventually Iblis gets released but didn't merge with Mephiles so then it went on to destroy the future where Silver and Blaze are and then the heroes all beat him like 4 times or something with the last time being in the future's future where Blaze sacrifices herself to seal Iblis away in the future's future forever but then Mephiles the Dark goes back and literally murders Sonic in front of Elise so she cries and then in the future's past merges with Iblis to destroy the future's future and the future's past and the present when it becomes Solaris and then Sonic, Shadow, and Silver all go Super and kills Solaris and then Elise blows away the flames of disaster once and for all and then everyone forgets that Iblis was ever even a thing.

Every time I type this lore out it's still baffling how they thought this would be a good direction for a Sonic game.

But concerning Iblis, I think his boss fights all suck for the most part, he's this vague boogeyman in the present and in the future you fight him three different times and they're all kinda boring too. The designs are all not great and the wormy fella is just ridiculous.

Iblis sucks and we don't need to see it again and there's nothing really positive to say about it.

I also forgot to mention that the very first thing my girlfriend noticed when seeing She-Hulk, the very very first time we get a good look at her, was "Why did her hair get longer?" And then I also noticed that when she turns into She-Hulk she gets dark eye shadow too.

It's a little thing, but it's kinda funny.

I feel like you've tried to have this conversation with us no less than 5 times.

So I have She-Hulk thoughts. I'll preface it by saying I've always loved the character. And Tatiana Maslany is one of my favorite actresses for her work in Orphan Black (check it out if you like sci-fi stuff!). I think I'm mostly positive on the show though.

I'll address the weird "controversy" of that clip going around about controlling anger yadda yadda. It's one of those where the people who are usually for that stuff and the people who are against it are clearly leaving out the additional context needed. She's not that much better at it, and even she knows it. The fact she immediately loses it and then only controls it again after Bruce points it out shows that.

There's also the point that people are saying "she's so much better at this than Bruce is already" when it's pretty obvious that she didn't get the full bore of the gamma dose, and that she's not really that much better than Bruce, but is just better in certain ways because she doesn't become a giant monster brute. Legitimately baffled by people asserting this, especially those who know the character.

All of that being said, I think the people who don't like Jen are weird too. I don't actually say this often, but I think a lot of the people actually upset by her personality need to step back and re-evaluate how they talk around close friends, or they need to actually make close friends because she's literally just joking around and taking jabs at someone she's close to throughout this episode in a good-natured way (aside from a couple scenes where they're both fighting). Like the whole Captain America stuff is a stupid conversation so many people have with their close friends and I'm blown away people are upset by it.

So controversies aside, I enjoyed this episode for the most part. Jen is fun. It's got a lot of Bruce and I'm so tired of Professor Hulk at this point please give us an interesting Hulk again after this, but their interactions were a lot of fun and they did explore SOME of the trauma of Bruce (and I never felt that Jen was downplaying it at all and more just speaking out of frustration; she outright acknowledges how terrible Bruce has had it going onward).

I'm guessing that all of this show is leading to her embracing the Hulk side of her more because that's the best part of She-Hulk for me, is her confidence and acceptance in being the big green lady. She accepts all parts of her and doesn't sacrifice on any of them and knows the value of using it all to help people, and I kinda wish that the episode maybe tried to lean more into that? But I'm willing to be more patient with it.

I think the worst offender was the court room battle. I may legitimately think that is the worst thing that Marvel has put out and they should be ashamed. Titania just busting in without any preamble or explanation. No character building. Just bad lady busts in. And then over the course of like 15 seconds they give us a full fight scene, but it's actually the complete worst. Flash cuts show only half of the action, it's hard to follow. Like guys you're on Disney+ you have time to flesh this out even a little bit OR SHOW THE ENTIRE FIGHT. Why are we skipping from Titania being under debris one second and then in the middle of a jump kick the literal next second? Completely terrible and the fact that nobody stepped in to actually improve that scene is embarrassing.

This is giving me precursors of Ms. Marvel though, and I'm hoping it trends upwards instead of downwards, but that fight really took the wind out of me.

Milkmaids was terrible. I enjoyed Bloody Mary though.

I hear that Orphan: First Kill is an absolutely insane film and all you have to do is ignore that the child looks nothing like a 10 year old anymore.

I'll probably save this one for my October viewing rush though.

I think Beast has a good trailer and my girlfriend and I can't stop talking about wanting to see Idris Elba punch a lion because it's so dumb.

Apparently they're taking these shows and movies off HBO Max so they don't need to pay anyone residuals for them.

It's a solid film! I'd like it more if all of the humor landed. But it did a great job developing all the characters by making them all the worst people ever. But the best parts that landed were follows:

The insipid and absolutely inane argument the final four have in the living room like oh my god all of them needed to shut the fuck up but it was so funny because these privileged brats all took that conversation seriously. And then the last reveal, obviously. You know what's about to happen the second it starts but you're just still like "No fucking way." And you see it play out exactly like you expected and it's just perfect.

Bark the Polar Bear
First Appearance: Sonic the Fighters

So I had not much to say about Bean the Bird of Uncertain Species, and I have even less to say about Bark the Polar Bear.

He's a yellow-ish polar bear with a beanie, scarf, and heavy duty gloves and boots.

Bark is a big ol' polar bear and I don't really care about him all that much? He has a somewhat unique look, but he doesn't stand out enough that I'm really clamoring for him. And when you factor in he doesn't have much of a personality then... what do you have left? It's nice to have a big dopey animal character that by default is not as awful as Big the Cat, but I don't know where he can really factor in.

I know in the comics he's a silent big boi who cares a little bit more than the company he keeps, but in an actual game that doesn't really make for a cool or interesting character. I don't know if you can factor in Bark at all here. Maybe if you do the whole Team Hooligan thing?

Everything they put Wally through was insane. New 52 is still insane in hindsight how half-assed all of it was without any proper planning. Just a complete knee jerk rebooting of the entire universe.

I had to look up who the hell Sojourner was. Lol I'm pretty plugged into comic book stuff (although I don't really collect or follow any now), but I swear I have never heard of Sojourner.
