Perfection is not a trait synonymous with video game stories, but Godot's arc just might be that. The perfect capstone to one of the finest trilogies out there. I'd argue Bleck is a more captivating character than Dimentio, but there's no arguing that design, and the brilliant weirdness of SPM's final act. The word to describe P&F is 'formulaic' but damn does it get mileage out of said formula. Helps that Povenmire just kills it as Doof, prattling off bizarre childhood memories that are somehow a vehicle for whatever mad science-inator that ends up undoing the A-plot. Is'sa fun time.

Never liked Yoshi, or his island. Helps that VI is the best of the retro FFs.

Sad I got home too late to save Abstract Map. Paradise Killer's vocalist is still not a convincing match for city pop. Good voice, weird application. Maybe it's in the mixing?

[9.5] If I were to compile a toplist of my favorite Sonic series tracks, this would definitely be up there, alongside the entirety of Sonic R and Shuffle, Adventure et al. Unleashed remains one of the most (if not the most) ambitious Sonic projects, and that star shines especially bright in the soundtrack. GAMELAN is one of the best instruments and it's consistently, ominously rolling in the back of the arrangement. Of particular note, the piano break at 1:35-- pay close attention when that starts because it's so easy to get lost in the visceral soundscape of this track. Though I wouldn't have it any other way, the sensation of being hopelessly, disorientingly lost in a sprawling jungle labyrinth, forged by the inconceivable hands of nature, is so expertly communicated here. Oops I wrote a lot for this one. Will gladly support

@Place , I hope you don't mean it when you said "See you next year". The trick to enjoying the contest is to find joy in the matches that do go your way, however infrequent that may be. We need you because, in all likelihood, at few more matches in the contest will come down to one vote!

I appreciate the sentiment, but my favorite part of the contest (discovering new music) is about to come to a close and I've never really enjoyed the competitive atmosphere afterwards. Not to say great moments can't arise from that, but it's hard to keep having fun when the voterbase collectively becomes Exhaustion 3 as their favorite songs get picked off.

Losing the noms is whatever. I go out of my way to nom/support polarizing stuff so I'm not surprised when the votals reflect that. Staff Roll rides in the same lane as Epic Epileptic Apocalypse--of course it'd get slammed by a general public, but it did go 6/6 in the nom phase! At least five people got to discover something that they liked, and that's more worth it to me than anything else. I won't forgive Raetsel for rallying against Work It Out, though. Time is going out R2-- mark my words.

Really, if and moreso when I drop out this year it'll be due to a ton of personal factors and not needing the added, disproportionate stress of internet music contest smacked on top. I'll hang around until we get there.

The whole thing with him is to be as cute and marketable as possible, which is inauthentic right off. Reminds me of the Mandalorian situation, where the Mouse desperately needed to rebuild the brand post-sequel trilogy and did so with a cutie-patootie baby-wabey. These days 'Baby Yoda' gets shilled about as hard as Frozen and Cars, but before that, it was BB-8.
