KCF0107 02/14/22 8:23:08 PM #199 | AFC West Prediction 1. Portland Express 2. Denver Broncos 3. Oakland Raiders 4. Kansas City Chiefs The Express are quietly on a four-season postseason streak and have won 40 regular season and three postseason games in that span. They have been one of the most balanced teams, and currently 14 of their 24 starters are under 30. They should remain a highly competitive team for many seasons to come, but a conference championship round apperance still eludes them. With a second place schedule, they face the Steelers and Jaguars, which you could argue isn't any better than if they finised 1st, 3rd, or 4th in the division last season. The schedule isn't daunting as a whole though given they play the NFC South as the non-conference slate. They lost one starter for half the season, but he wasn't a critical member. With a rock solid team everywhere, added depth, and significant question marks in virtually every other AFC contender, the Express not only could finally get past the divisional round but might actually be the AFC favorites. This is where things get dicey for me. The Broncos squeaked into the playoffs as the 6th seed and made it all the way to the conference championship. Their team was unusual last season as they had long been established as an elite rushing and defensive team but ended up being a great passing and above-average defensive team. Even with multiple starters injured for a decent stretch of time, I expect their defense to get back to a similar level that we've been seeing after signing SS Vonn Bell as an RFA. The offense is where the question marks lie. After attempting just one pass last season before suffering a season-ending injury, what will QB Andrew Luck look like in this offense? He has improved at each stop in his career, and this is still one of the best OL in the league. More importantly maybe is we will finally see improvement from former Top 10 pick HB Kenyan Drake? Through two seasons, he has a 3.6 YPC with more fumbles than TDs (3 to 2). It appears that he is going to be the full-time starter this season after spending the previous two as a backup to different HBs. As long as Luck and Drake turn out to be adequate, I expect the Broncos to be playoff contenders to the very end. Their offense floor is the only thing that gives me any hesitation from seeing them as a surefire playoff team. I predicted the Raiders to finish last in the AFC only to finish first last season. Their defensive floor is very high, and I see no reason to expect more than a minor fall-off there. Their achilles heel and ultimately what made them one-and-done in the playoffs last season was their offense, and specifically their OL that had difficulty generating blocks, likely due to skill level disparity between them and the DL and LBs trying to get past them. It seems impossible at this point in the league that a team can have an OL in this state, but here we are. That issue will only be exacerbated this season after they let OT Alex Boone walk in the offseason. Looking at their schedule, the only games that I can see them not be totally dominated in the trenches are against the Titans and Buccaneers. They desperately need 33-year-old HB R.J. Jackson to not be injured and to continue playing at an elite level in order for the offense to not drop off to perilous levels. The Chiefs unexpectedly took a talent-deficient team to a winning record and roughly league average rankings in important areas. Armed with tons of cap space and high draft picks, they were in a fantastic position to bridge the talent gap through RFA, free agency, and trades to put the long rebuilding phase in the rearview mirror and be perennial playoff contenders. After a puzzling and disappointing offseason, this team is marginally better at best, and more than likely basically the same as last season. In their favor is they exited the offseason without significant injuries and are in a better position health-wise than their division rivals. However, they have a brutal back end of the season. If they can be 8-4 by the time they reach Week 14, I feel like they have a decent chance of grabbing a wild card. The more likely scenario is that will not be the case, and they miss out on the postseason again and have to go back to the drawing board, albeit without all the resources they just had this offseason. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/13/22 10:40:36 PM #195 | The Depth Chart sheet should now be updated for preseason events. Please, please, please look over it 10 or however many times it takes for you to fully comprehend what you are seeing.Without fail, at least one person is unaware of their depth chart and makes a comment at some point asking why so-and-so player is starting or why another player isn't. The depth charts are updated every season after the postseason as the game automatically re-orders it based on how the AI optimizes it based on preseason performance and position battles. I have nothing to do it with it, so don't ask me why. Just ask me to update it if it bothers you. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/13/22 8:05:46 PM #194 | Now that the vast majority of teams no longer have a fantasy draft player still on their team, I thought it would be fun to point out each team's longest-tenured player in order of how long they have been with the club. The majority of these will probably be linemen or special teams players, but maybe there will be a surprise. I will go in order of season. I didn't realize that the map allowed you to fast travel, so I went back to Dinoland to see how far I could take the boat now. There's still a few islands I can't reach. KCF0107 02/10/22 2:53:34 AM #78 | Masters of Anima (XB1) I'm a big fan of Pikmin/Overlord-style RTS with its tower-defense PC and strong exploration/adventure elements. No clones of those series have been on their level, and Anima is the same. The non-combat portions are very good, especially in the later forest levels, but the combat is a slog and not very dynamic. Unit control is also a bit of a pain given the movement and attack speed of enemies and their target tracking. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/08/22 9:03:26 PM #25 | I'm at the fifth main dungeon in Nobody. As much as I have been liking the game, I've been ready for a little while for the game to end. I'm hoping that there are no swerves at this point and am close to finishing the game as the game has suggested. Part of that is design choices that have become more of an annoyance of late and also because I've been averaging about 90 minutes a day playing it since the month began. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/06/22 12:18:54 AM #18 | I hit a wall in Nobody because I eventually got past that, but instead of advancing the main game, I have three sub-dungeons I might try to complete first (I've died in two of them already). I finally started Rainbow Billy, and it is about what I expected: Paper Mario: Color Splash meets Cuphead art style. I'm liking the loop thus far with puzzles, platforming, and fun little side activities. There seem to be a ton of islands in this first area. I'm not seeing an in-game map, so I have no idea how many I have accidentally skipped over. I also never saw an option to save and quit or go out to the menu, so I'm just hoping that one of these temporary images that I sometimes see on the screen signifies auto-saving. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/05/22 6:41:16 AM #67 | Murder by Numbers (Switch) I have done some picture logic puzzles before but never a game solely dedicated to them. While I was a fan of the adventure elements not becoming bloated to completely ruin pacing or make me go through a needlessly convoluted plot, the lack of variety in puzzles did wear a bit thin at times. I beat it in around a week, but I would probably recommend going through it at a slower rate unless you already love picture logic puzzles. Also, the puzzles themselves could have added some quality of life aspects like an undo button and other basic features. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/04/22 6:16:41 AM #13 | I'm about to enter my second "main" dungeon in Nobody. I'm starting to wonder if there is level scaling because I've done an excellent job at form rotating and completing form quests, and I've generally been under or at the exact recommended level when I go to new areas/dungeons. My level is in the low 20s. There are too many forms for me to want to rank now, but if I had to choose five to exclusively play as among what I've unlocked thus far, it would probably be these in no particular order: Magician, Bodybuilder, Slug, Zombie, Rat. I have a couple of games that I'm close to beating, so I was hoping to get through them before adding yet another game to the currently playing list in Rainbow Billy, but if I don't whittle down the list soon, I will definitely start it this weekend. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |

KCF0107 02/03/22 7:33:10 PM #185 | Coaching Strategies Each user has an opportunity to alter some portions of how their team operates on the field. Here are the following categories you can change and what they mean. Base Defense You have a choice of 4-3 or 3-4. Under a 4-3, you start 2 DTs and 1 MLB. Under a 3-4, you start 2 MLBs and 1 DT. Run-Pass Offense The ratio of plays that will be run or pass plays on offense. This is on a sliding 100 point scale. Conservative-Aggressive Offense The ratio of plays that will be risk-averse or risky on offense. This is on a sliding 100 point scale. Running Back Splits How carries will be split among the top two RBs on your depth chart. This is on a sliding 100 point scale. That being said, I feel like coaches ignore whatever you put under this category and do whatever they please. That or RB2 actually refers to all HBs/FBs/QBs/WRs/TEs who may run with the ball and are not RB1. Run-Pass Defense The ratio of plays that will be geared more toward run-stopping or pass-rushing plays on defense. This is on a sliding 100 point scale. Conservative-Aggressive Defense The ratio of plays that will be risk-averse or risky on defense. Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck) The Basics - Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated - For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing - In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month - If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so - Drawing for next month's games is around a week before the end of the month - If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome! Nomination Rules - You get one nomination automatically each month - You receive additional nominations each month for every featured game that you beat - Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM - Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game) - Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month - You have 9 supports you can use throughout the year. Your only limitations are that you can't support your own nomination, and you can only use one support per game per month --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu |
