Sekiro (while being very similar) differs from other Fromsoft games in a key way: instead of dodging or using brute force/cheese as a way to defeat your enemies, you have to rely on a more in-depth blocking system to go on the offense at all. Enemies are all extremely dangerous if you don't fill their posture gauge (which you mostly achieve through perfect parries and other defensive maneuvers), but they're extremely vulnerable if you do fill the gauge. There's not many ways to "cheese" almost anything in the game. In other words, Sekiro can be the hardest by far if you don't really "get" the combat system.
