I think I might download this stuff. I own XCOM 2 but... have yet to play it.

It's pretty fun, I obviously like the genre and the genre isn't for everyone. But I feel xcom does a good job of balancing being friendly (beyond RNG) and having depth. You can go further with something like Xenonauts thats a lot more depth. And Xcom 2s mods make it pretty flexible, the long war mod almost changes it into a new game, but that's by far the most overhauling mod out there. Then theres also just a lot of fun mods, like being able to bring in mass effect, star wars, overwatch, etc characters into your squad. Though a lot of those broke with the expac since they did a big overhaul on the engine.

Games like massive chalice and banner saga are other recent games that are similar and pretty frequently on sale for cheap.

Popcorn got shot for 4 damage rushing off to save a civ and then getting a faceless and 3 civilians were killed.


iosifsvoboda became yet another sharpshooter, Merandi and leana became corporal going melee and stealth respectively. Popcorn Sergeant and continuing down being a medic

Star Reaper and Conti were flawless through the lost. As was Error and PaRappa. Learning from previous mistakes (namely grenades are never worth it vs them) made that half much easier.

Assassin seems to have gotten better starting perks. She already has immune to melee and her weakness is getting hit 3 times in 1 turn, whereas in my first run it was close ranged attacks. But again, knowing the mission made it really easy. RNG selected mufferaw to be the victim of her daze attack, then i made her flee with the last soldier, and the lost spawned on top of me. The took mox down to 2 hp, and error took a hit, but no fatalities. Parappa is a grenadier and mufferaw another ranger. While error and star reaper make corporal. Error will go for long range while reaper will be the pistol guy.



Also parappa is the only soldier with 2 9.0+ compatibility, with error at 9.3 and conti at 9.2. Even in the digital world parappas swag cant be matched

yeah theres a mod for base xcom 2 that will change your internal seed. So you can get a different result. otherwise you have to take a different action.

I'm kind of surprised you save-scum. I took you for one of them hardcore XCOM pros like chill02 or something.

mostly i just scum for hacking, because thats a stupid fucking mechanic. And if i really fuck up and get a triple pod i'll scum >_> I won't scum missed shots though.

The save scum mod currently crashes the expac and i haven't looked for a new one.

the expansion add some toggles to make it easier (longer doomsday timer, longer mission timer) as well as turning down the difficulty. You can also be a dirty save scummer like me

The game tends to have a reverse difficulty curve where the first 10-20 hours are harder than the last 10-20 hours. Haven't gotten to end game to know how it's adjusted that. I generally expect to lose my first playthru by focusing on the wrong things (don't build a training center first)

I don't use a tablet so I don't need HD when I do stream video on my phone.
