The whole point of Mario Maker is creating, sharing, and discovering. It's more like saying "Zelda without adventuring isn't worth it." Even the most avid lovers of the original game I talk to mostly say to avoid the 3DS game, which is unfortunate because I'm not about to buy a Wii U just to play the game as it was meant to be

I was fine with the story, but it was nothing new or inventive or really all that interesting to me. It borrowed a lot of elements from post-apocalypse stuff like STALKER and Metro which both did the same things better, and the plot twist in the end has been done fifty million times and surprised me literally zero percent.

Sonic Adventure tried to do way too much with shaky technology. The stuff it was most adept at, it did sorta-glitchily at best, and everything else was a half baked mess. It's honestly part of what makes that game so charming. It's so weird and odd and inventive, and we never have video games like that anymore.

Unfortunately, subsequent games narrowed the focus of the character, but didn't actually make anything much better. By the time of Sonic Heroes every team is pretty close to the same, but the game is still a glitchy tiresome mess. The same goes for Sonic 06, and all the wii games. They just never seemed to be willing to put backbone behind their games to not make them bizarrely messed up. Even Generations has problems

I don't buy into the outrage about damsels in distress, but if they're going for that narrative then I don't think SMB2 really weakens it when nine times out of ten the driving force of a Mario game is Peach getting kidnapped yet again. She's playable in a handful outside of the spinoff sports games but so what? Far and apart that isn't the usual case.

Personally that part of modern feminism doesn't particularly interest me at all because there are a lot more important things to worry about and handle than the nerdy shit that serves as low hanging fruit for attention. But if you're going to view that as a problem, Peach being playable once in a blue moon doesn't really make a difference
