And quite frankly, knowing AlphaDream, if this game does well that gameplay will become the major selling point of the next two or three entries. I just... I don't want this. I like the idea of controlling an army of Bowser's henchmen, honestly. It's something I've always kind of wanted to do. There's probably a lot more in store, so your preemptive bitching is kind of weird. Not like they kept the Babies around for BIS, or Bowser around for Dream Team, or dream segments around for Paper Jam. They always add a new gimmick. |

They are therapeutic, because they satisfy a human need that we simply don't get too much in the modern world: purpose. We like to feel like we belong, like we live for something, that we have purpose. Tattoos give us that. Up until recently in human history, we had clearly defined roles and goals since our birth. If a boy was born to a carpenter, then he will carry on the tradition of becoming a carpenter. He is to get married and provide for a woman and children. As for girls, they were born knowing their role was to bear children, and take care of the household. They had a defined role in society. Compare that to today's modern world, where boys and girls are born into a society where they have no clear, distinct roles. They can grow up to be whatever they want to be, do what they want to do. It places a lot of burden on children to make "important" decisions, and to find their niche in society. Most individuals don't feel like they actually belong, or that they've made the perfect choices, they feel kind of lost. Anything that can help reinforce a sense of purpose or belonging is of course therapeutic, and tattoos and can be helpful for that reason. |

DoctorPiranha3 posted...Tattoos used to be seen as something only gangsters and tough individuals get, to show dedication towards a particular lifestyle. This dates back to human tribes, where warriors would tattoo themselves up as an intimidation tactic. The more frilly you look, the more intimidated someone would be of you. The point is, people get them to feel special about themselves. In a society as free as America, we like to feel like unique individuals, and express our values and how we feel. It's not the same for people in, say, India or China. |

The individual can take steps to overcome/cope with depression, which many are too unmotivated or otherwise unable (or even unaware) to do, but nobody just *decides* to be depressed. Okay, this is true. But on that token, none of us have freewill, and every emotion and action has been decided by our brain neurons. |
