They kindly put up pictures of their outings on their website and Twitter account each week (and it's definitely worth checking out). But despite being in a city with millions of people of all races, they have never been sexually assaulted or harassed beyond a few leering men. So, I definitely take objection with the apologists who say this is the kind of thing that men would do anywhere. It most certainly isn't. And it's not a racial or ethnic thing, either. This is typically based on their flawed worldview where they picture white men being the villains or the main perpetrators of hatred, but then their policies blow up in their faces when actually implemented and end up hurting other groups they claim to care about. Examples: - Liberals wanted tougher suspension and expulsion policies on campuses for men found guilty of crimes, especially sexual crimes. Result? A disproportionate number of minorities were expelled. - Liberals pushed for expanded hate crime laws in many large cities. Result? Black people are charged with hate crimes three times as often as whites, with the largest gap being in violence against LGBT individuals. - Liberals wanted "manspreading" ordinances to be passed in NYC, claiming it was sexist to women. Result? Almost exclusively black and Hispanic men were given citations by the NYPD. - Most famously, liberals were the founders of "stop and frisk," viewing the policy as a way to get illegal guns off the streets. Interestingly, that policy was actually opposed by right-wing libertarians and some NRA chapters at the time. Result? As it turns out, over 90% of the illegal gun crimes in NYC are committed by blacks and Hispanics. When the NYPD was tasked with implementing that policy, they targeted neighborhoods with the highest total of illegal gun crimes, and it ended up being mainly minorities who were stopped. The list goes on, but the lessons are never learned. Encourage people (i.e. girls) to have a buddy before they go out, make sure someone in their dorm/apt knows where they are, and encourage fellow students to step in if they have any hesitation that someone might be too drunk for their own good.
