Yes, and a huge definite no to the last one. No people just calling themselves doctors that aren't in any way related to the medical field (Doom being the biggest example I can think of).

Yeah, I mean it works if you think about it that way, I'm just realistically thinking of how people will nominate unfortunately. It's usually fringe enough, these categories would really push that envelope to a scope I couldn't really even police.

This was the initial idea, yes. I allowed a little deviation from that just to have more categories of course, but it's always meant to have been in that same vein. I am not going to accept nomination based on family orientation, and I may remove "Children" from the nominations page too, as I said I may do before. It's not really in the scope of KotM.

Could a KotM be ran for those things? I think so, yes. The problem would be weeding out things... fathers could be an okay category, but then everyone just nominates their favorite character that has children even if being a father isn't a big part of their story. It's a lot harder to say no, much more difficult than standard KotM contests.

Finally, the complaints about this tarnishing the 'legacy' of SMDC -- I might take those more seriously if it wasn't coming from someone who complains about how I'm ruining the legacy of SMDC over everything they disagree with, including round start times. I'm sorry you feel that I stole ownership of this contest but that's not how it happened and I hope Genny doesn't think that's how it happened. Genny, if you do think I strongarmed this away from you this year, please reach out to me so we can talk.

Good job of writing it off based on other complaints. Don't put words in my mouth either by the way, especially not ones that were hearsay as far as you're concerned. This has nothing to do with that, and I'm disappointed you resorted to that.

Honestly, this round should have been ceased by the actual host the moment it began due to that fact. Save Mys are all about how quick you get in, and everyone that is a long time player knows that. This clearly impacted that, and it should have been stopped. It is obviously too late now and tossing out the result when the host himself voted in it is not really responsible either.

Want real proof this was improper? This is all you need. Not only did gravy post this under an account easily assumed to be owned by another user that is known to many on this board, but he implied he was a different person than gravy. It's foul honestly, and no amount of ban length really makes up for it. He shouldn't be banned at all. He should simply not be the co-host of this contest, plain and simple.

It's not a punishment. It's realizing that if the host's word means nothing, maybe it's better not investing anymore time into it. Potentially saving myself more grief when gravy pulls some other dumb stunt much later in the contest where each hour matters much more. I mean, I've significantly cut back my "level of care" in other contests for stuff like random start times, because why bother putting the effort in when I can push someone really far only to have them die because a round went up at 3am or something.

This sums it up really. As much as FFD wants to paint a nice little picture here, because you know, any post he makes in here has to be a joke, this was a bad thing to do and there's no getting around it. The point of a co-host is to not go rogue against the main host's decision making. Face it, because gravy is not a real "co-host", he was an assistant host for when MI could not post rounds in varying times. Why do I feel this way? The man has outright said he "does not care about this contest", and to me that's something that is very clear in the fact of this round here. How little regard he has for it, or the people who want to spend their time playing it. The fact that people might want to quit or get up in arms is because having gravy as a cohost of this is taking a shit all over the history of it. Yeah, bring on the "serious business" quotes and silly remarks or attempt to make this out as making too much of a board contest but the fact is that every entity that exists to pass your time with is supposed to bring pleasure and enjoyment. This is a game, like any other. There's the sense of competition and the goal of victory. Imagine if your favorite gaming series in it's ninth installment suddenly introduced to you a game that was far below the standards previously set, that seemed to make a mockery of the legacy behind it. Everyone would hate it, and there are lots of games like this. Why is it okay to feel that way about games or film, but not here? It's all the same really.

Honestly, the right thing to do as the host MI is to make some sort of statement here. If you can't run this alone, let someone that actually gives a fuck help you run it and not some uncaring troll that happens to be your friend.
