I admittedly don't listen to a lot of music but he is easily my favourite artist of all-time.

Saying that, I agree with everyone else that his newer stuff can range from decent to outright terrible.

I listen to all of his albums regularly, but everything from The Slim Shady LP to The Eminem Show is peak Eminem for me.

I've had that and people just giving up after the first set a lot lately.

Other than in one or two matches, I've still yet to be challenged at all other than when playing you and FD.

It's understandable right now because we're going to be matched up against people who are potentially playing their first or second game, but it's hard to improve when your opponent can't return a single shot all game.

I'm excited for a competitive mode and can't wait to put a bunch of hours into that, though.

I will say that I do have fond memories of RE5, but it wasn't because of the story mode. Was it called Mercs in RE5 too? Whatever that timed mode was with the small arenas, it was a bunch of fun.

I don't think I've played a single second of that in RE5. The mercs mode is RE4 was a lot of fun though.

KH1 and 2 really are some of the best games of all time. It's a shame the rest of the series has failed so completely at capturing that same magic.

I agree. Maybe it's because the two main games feel so much grander and well polished than the rest. Regardless, I have faith in Kingdom Hearts 3.

I've played an hour or two of RE5 (I did co-op with a friend up to the giant bumblebee) and I remember it not being great. Hopefully I'll have a chance to play it again someday

I think it's a combination of my love of the series, the genre of games I enjoy, and having a friend who shares that same fondness that made this game so enjoyable the first time I played it.

I honestly don't really have anything bad to say about any part of the game. Was it taken in a different direction than what the series is known for? Sure, but I don't think that qualifies as a negative.

Again, that could be my experiences with it masking its flaws, because I played a little bit of RE6 and hated it.

12. Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4)

This game got a lot of flak when it first came out for a couple of reasons. PC players were justifiably upset about getting a broken game, and it seems like this game never got away from that original hate. Other (or most) players hated the Batmobile, and believed that it was relied too heavily on. As a console player, that first problem was never an issue for me, and as for the Batmobile, I will agree that at times it seemed a little too important, but it never detracted from the rest of the game.

I mentioned in the Arkham Asylum write-up how, at the time, I was only a casual fan when it came to superheroes and comics. Arkham Knight, however, came out at a time where my comic fandom was at an all-time high (it still is), and because of that, I think I enjoyed it much more. If I'm being honest, I think I only enjoyed it this much because of my enjoyment of the source material. I mean, the game is great, and you don't have to be a comic reader to enjoy these games, as evidenced by Arkham Asylum's placement, but this is not the twelfth best game of all-time if I don't read comics.

But, I do, and it made it that much better. That small reference? That obscure villain? Those minor characters? All things I recognized, and all things that enhanced my time with the game.

When it comes to the details of the game, I feel like the Asylum write-up illustrated most of what I like about this series. The story is still as great as ever, and the combat is still tight. Arkham Knight also has the best world in the settings, and my favourite side missions. Again, these are things that are enhanced because of how much I now like Batman, but video games aren't just about playing the game out of context, and it's everything surrounding this game that has made it nearly crack my top 10.

11. Final Fantasy XII (PS2)

Based on my continued referencing to the Final Fantasy series and how much I enjoy it, along with the fact that, up to this point, the series has been mostly absent from the list, you can kind of guess that there will be heavy representation of them in these final few write-ups. Final Fantasy XII isn't nearly as polarized in the gaming world as XIII, but I still don't see much love for it overall.

Hunts. This game has hunts, and FFXII's iteration of hunts is my single most favourite individual aspect of any Final Fantasy game. People complain about the story in this game. I think it's great, but, oddly enough, the story isn't why this game is so good. To give you an example of my time with this game, I'll start by saying I've played through it multiple times. In each of those playthroughs, the story has taken a back seat. I've never beaten this game. It's not because I lose interest, or I can't; I've gotten to the point where I've been incredibly overleveled, and all I needed to do was go to the final encounter and one hit kill that final boss, but I just don't care. Playing through the game is fun, but when it comes to the endgame, I'm here for the optional, tough dungeons, and the hard to get loot, and most importantly, the hunts.

This game is kind of a genre all in its own, and it's for that reason that I love it. Many people say that it's an offline MMO, and because of that, it's bad. After spending a significant amount of time playing this, I've come to the realization that all I've ever wanted was an offline MMO. I love everything about the genre, but I want to play it at my own pace, and I don't want to interact with others or find people to play with in order to access different content. FFXII is my offline MMO, and my huge world that I can continue to get lost in, alone.

13. Kingdom Hearts (PS2)

Kingdom Hearts is cheesy, but it's a lovable kind of cheesy. The dumbness of it is more apparent now that I'm older, but at the age of 10 I was legitimately amazed that there was a game that combined my favourite Disney characters with characters I recognized from one of my favourite series of all time. I'm not even the biggest Action RPG fan, but Kingdom Hearts has combat that is simple enough to learn and enjoy as a kid while also being challenging enough that has me even now struggling to defeat certain super bosses.

This game is special for a number of reasons. it was the first game in the series, and experiencing something great for the first time is always memorable. It also made me a bigger Final Fantasy fan, as at the time I had only played FF7, and it got me more interested in seeing the games that these characters I was meeting came from.

It's definitely not all nostalgia, though. The game was still as great as ever after I played through the Final Mix version on the PS3. I've already talked about why I think the combat and story are great, but really, it's a total package. The different worlds are well designed, and a bunch of fun to explore and interact with as a fan of the material they were taken form, and I actually like the original characters. I mentioned this in the BBS write-up, but as much as I love Disney and their characters, it's the characters and stories created for this game and this series that continue to bring me back in.

I'm extremely excited about Kingdom Hearts 3, and none of that excitement is because I want to see more Disney characters. I've been working (and confusing) myself through the story of these original characters for over half of my life at this point, and I want to see their conclusions.

15. Resident Evil 5 (PS3)

Not a lot of people like this game, and I don't think anyone likes it quite as much as I do. In a previous write-up, I spoke about my introduction to Resident Evil, and becoming a fan for life. I also mentioned my dislike of the horror genre. So while most people were upset when the series started transitioning in the action direction and moving away from the horror, I couldn't have been happier.

This is another one of those games that I found to be much more enjoyable because of my experience playing it with a friend. Previously, I managed that I rarely played PS3 games before I received it from my dad in 2010. This was one of those rare games. I picked it up at release along with a friend, and we played it through to completion together twice, and then I played it again solo. More recently, this game was released on the PS4, and so that same friend and I bought it again, where we played it through to completion together twice, and then I played it one more time solo. Unless I really like a game, I won't really go back to it, yet alone complete it more than once. I've mentioned numerous times about how I've gone back to games many times, or how as a kid I would get stuck on games and just keep starting over, so yeah, I might have started more runs in a certain game than I have with Resident Evil 5, but I've played this game to completion six times, and if it weren't for Super Mario World, that would be more than any other game I've played.

What I'm trying to say is, alone, this is a good game. Dealing with the AI partner can get annoying at times, but I think it's still a good time. Playing it with someone else, though, is the best co-op experience I've ever had. It elevates the game from an 8 to nearly a 10 in my books. I've played through it six times, but if my friend asked me tomorrow to go through it again, I wouldn't hesitate.

14. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)

Vice City is the best GTA game ever made. Vice City also has my favourite video game soundtrack of all time. Better than Hotline Miami. Better (just barely) than FFVII. I still listen to the songs from Flash FM on a regular basis. I wasn't even alive in the '80s, but every time I hear any of those songs I get nostalgic for this game, and it's a good feeling.

I loved this game as a kid. I still own the guide book for it. Tommy Vercetti is a badass, and a dick, and a great character. Lance Vance was also cool, for awhile, anyway. What can I really say about this game? This is THE GTA game for a lot of people, and it feels like it has transcended games altogether.

The music is great, the characters are great, I loved the setting, and the empire building that took place in the second half of the game was a lot of fun. Nothing does GTA style open-world better than Vice City.

16. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4)

This is the newest addition to this list. In fact, at the time of writing this write-up, this was the most recent game that I had beaten. I had extremely high expectations for this game. I was disappointed with Uncharted 3, but loved the other two, as this list will tell you. I heard many people say that this was the best in the series, and frankly, I didn't believe it could get much better than Uncharted 2. That was until I played it.

Overall, some great additions were made to this game. Nathan Drake and crew were as human as they've ever been, and the way in which the story was told eclipsed even the second game. There also felt like less combat sections overall, and while I think it's solid, it's easily my least favourite part of the games. The added ability to use stealth to skip encounters entirely, and the fact that you weren't punished for not being stealthy (which is a big plus), brought an element to the series that wasn't present previously. I also enjoyed the fact that the game was much more grounded than the other three. By Uncharted 3, I had kind of gotten tired of surprise plot twists that introduced random monsters into the games.

I rarely, if ever, get emotional while playing games (or while watching movies), but I got pretty close at the ending. Going in, Naughty Dog had said that this would be Drake's final adventure, so it wasn't a surprise to find out it was, and while I won't spoil exactly how it finished, I thought it was a fitting end to the story. That didn't stop me from being incredibly sad that it was finally over, though.

Undisputed Championship: With his win over Raven, I feel Stifled is probably the best contender for the championship.
LW Title: Luster won a title shot. Might as well force him to use it at the ppv.
JESTER: prof wants to purge. Perhaps we allow him to do so and put some LWs up in a match for the new jester.

Yeah, that foursome is heavy on the console exclusivity. Legend of Dragoon is great though. I don't think you need to play FFVII first, but your impression of one might be altered if you play the other first. They're a similar kind of game, so if you do end up enjoying FF7 I think it'll be worth taking a look at.

18. Digimon World (PSX)

My brother and I spent way too much time playing this game as kids, then, after we both got PSPs, we played it again there. Despite not only that, but also carefully reading and following guides, I still feel like I have no idea how to play this game optimally.

I'm sure there are other games with similar systems, but I haven't played them, so I have nothing to compare this to. Essentially, you start the game with a Digimon as your pet, and through training, battling, feeding, and proper hygiene (you literally have to take it to the washroom), it'll eventually digivolve. The catch, though, is that there are a number of different Digimon you can get through this process, some much better than others (including Sukamon, an actual pile of s***), and while these aforementioned guides were available, it still always felt like a crapshoot when it came to what you got. Throughout this process, your pet would age, and eventually die, and the process would start over, meaning that even if you did get what you wanted, your time with your powerful Digimon was often limited.

Despite making it sound like a chore, the process was actually incredibly fun for my brother and I. At this point in the ranking, I've mentioned my enjoyment of seeing progress being made enough times that I'm convinced it's my guilty pleasure in games, because, just like with all of the previous games, I really liked seeing my Digimon's stats slowly go up as I trained and cared for it. I've played this game from the beginning many times, and each time, hours would be spent on this process, and that was before I even begun to explore the island and actually progress in the story.

Similar to the 3rd game and its parallels to Cyber Sleuth, the newly released Next Order game is said to be very similar to this game, so I'm looking forward to eventually digging through that.

17. The Legend of Dragoon (PSX)

Out of the seventeen remaining games on the list, there is only one game that I want a sequel for more than this game. The Legend of Dragoon was said to be a "Final Fantasy VII killer", and while I don't think it quite manages to do that (spoilers for a future game on the list), I think it comes pretty close. This is also the highest game on the list that I've never actually played start to finish, and I fault myself for not being able to commit to a game as long as this a kid. I played it again four or five years ago, and almost finished it, but there were so many other games to play at the time and so I dropped it and never got a chance to go back to it. There have also been many playthroughs in between those two instances. I feel like I continue to come back to this game throughout my life.

What makes this game so good? As I've stated, JRPG is my favourite genre of game, but this game's battle system was different, and that's why it stood out to me. On the surface, it was your standard turn based system, however, during attacks, you would have to input button combinations and form combos to maximize your damage. The best comparison I can make is to the Mario and Luigi handheld games, but much more complicated.

Similar to FFVII, this game had pre-rendered backgrounds, and they are some of, if not the best I've ever seen. FFVII's backgrounds are great, but the intention there is dark, industrial looking settings. LoD's world is similar at times, but it is overwhelmingly bright, and especially beautiful. I felt like I wanted to be in the world every time I played it.

I hate to compare it to FFVII again, but I think people who love that soundtrack have got to hear LoD's. It has its moments of melancholy and intensity, but like the world it's in, it is often bright and beautiful.

20. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (PSX)

I wouldn't be a true Naughty Dog fan if I also didn't enjoy the Crash Bandicoot games. Warped is both the first game in the series that I played and the one I spent the most time with, and after playing all of the trilogy, I'm confident in saying it's the best of the 3.

Who would of thought that, based on recent games on this list, that I would enjoy a humorous Playstation, level-based platformer? Crazy, if you think about it.

Seriously though, this game is everything I like about the genre, and based on the age I was when I first played it, is one of the reasons why I got into the genre in the first place.

For what seems like the fifth time, I can't really describe why I like a Playstation platformer without repeating myself, so I'll leave it here and just say that playing Warped might've been the most pure fun I had on the Playstation as a kid.

19. Gran Turismo 2 (PSX)

Creating this list has been fun not only to see what my overall favourite games are, but also which game in each genre is my favourite. I can safely say that Gran Turismo 2 is my favourite racing game of all time.

I love simulation games. It's why I continue to buy sports games every year. Sometimes, it's not even about playing the game, but about seeing myself make progress. With Gran Turismo, it's as much about the racing as it is getting the licenses, buying and upgrading my car, and slowly working through the different events, and no other racing game series comes close to providing that.

I actually have had two very different, yet equally great experiences with this game. My dad has an unhealthy love for cars, so we played this game a lot as a kid, slowly working our way up, getting better cars, and generally accumulating wealth. I remember one night in particular, my parents went out to some event, and for what felt like all night I grinded out the same race that awarded you with a car which you could then sell for cash. I had made a few hundred thousand by the time they got home. Things like this are why I love the Gran Turismo games and the type of different experiences they give you.

My second experience, which came a little while afterwards, involved a family friend copying their save file onto our memory card, and not only did they have every event completed and millions of dollars, but they also owned nearly every car in the game. Now, I could screw around in any of the super cars and any of the races. Every time I played, I'd buy a new car and upgrade it to the max, then take it out to the test track and see how fast I could go.

As you can see, this game was a big part of my childhood, and it's definitely more than just a driving game to me.

Hmm, is it possible to do that if you're not Canadian?

Oh, wait. My account is F2P. Still curious, though.

I'm not sure! I didn't even realize it was a thing until I bought some packs on my phone, checked my account, and realized it didn't get exchanged.

Since then I've been using my phone for any Hearthstone purchases and it's worked out.

Reminds me how annoyed I am that there is no CAD pricing and I always have to pay at whate very the current USD to CAD rate is.

I also am Canadian, but if you buy anything through the Google Play store you'll get charged the USD price in CAD dollars at a 1:1 exchange rate.

I've done it for every adventure up to this point, which means I'm actually paying less than the USD price because I've been paying $19.99 CAD for things that cost $19.99 USD.

Dragon Priest seems like one of the best options on ladder right now, hit Rank 10 with it last night.

The rank floors are great, it let me set a goal in reaching Rank 10 and I felt relieved when I got there because I didn't really have to worry anymore.

I got the trophy for finishing a match with a super earlier so all i need now is win 50 games. I never lose to not-b8 so i should be nearly there.

When I was going for the 50 wins, it felt like rematches didn't count towards the total because I could have sworn I had much more than 50 wins by the time I actually got it.

Anyway, I'm hyped for the top 20! Whenever people do rankings like this I usually try to pick a highly ranked game that I hadn't already played or intended to play, and then I add it to my (massive) to-play list. Hopefully your top 20 isn't all console exclusives!

You've probably only played 2 or 3 of my top 20, and while there are a decent chunk of console exclusives in there, there's at least a few that you'd be able to check out, and that I'd definitely recommend!

I may or may not have already recommended one of my highly ranking games to you at the end of your ranking topic as well.

My internet is seemingly acting up today, it keeps cutting out for a few seconds every 20 minutes or so, and I was lagging hard in Rocket League earlier, so I'm not going to make an attempt at playing this tonight.

I did notice a patch this morning, though. Hopefully that helps some of the stability issues we were having.

22. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

What is there really to say about Uncharted that I haven't already? I've talked about how I think Nathan Drake is the perfect video game character, how the soundtrack and gameplay has always been solid, and how the story is some of the best ever.

What makes Uncharted 2 better than the first one, and better than nearly 80 other games on this list, is just how much better it does all of those things I mentioned in the first paragraph. Looking back now, it's easy to point out why the second game is better than the first (and the third, easily), but after playing the first game I couldn't figure out how it could possibly be even better, other than just more Uncharted.

Despite all that, Uncharted 2 elevates everything. The story is more compelling, the set pieces are bigger and better, and they improved on a lot of this issues the first game had with the combat.

This game is a perfect example of a developer realizing where they can improve on an already great game, and nearly perfectly executing on all of those improvements.

21. Digimon World 3 (PSX)

As a kid, I liked the Digimon TV show much more than Pokemon. I kind of fell after the first season when they rotated a bunch of the cast, but that first season is still to this day some of my favourite animated television.

I played all of the Digimon World games as a kid. 2 was bad, and I may or may not be discussing the first game in a later write-up, but I thought and still think it's pretty cool that all of the games were completely different genres. 3 was kind of like Pokemon, in the sense that you had a party of 3 Digimon that were chosen at the beginning of the game, and used them in turn-based battles against other Digimon and trainers.

This game had everything I currently love about video games. Open-world, turn-based RPG, fun story, and a recognizable and well liked brand, so it's easy to see why I would like it.

After the first four Digimon World games (the fourth was also bad), Digimon fell off the map for me. I have Cyber Sleuth, which looks kind of similar to this game, on my backlog, and if it's anything close to as fun as Digimon World 3 I'll no doubt love it.

Also, this game had a really cool card game in it, and I'm a sucker for card games.

24. Star Wars: Battlefront II (PS2)

I mentioned most of what I liked about the Battlefront games in the previous ranking so this write-up won't be excessively long.

Overall, this game improved on everything the first game did, and I ended up playing it for even longer than the first one. The gameplay was similar, but the hero and villain stuff were a cool addition. Galactic Conquest was also better in this game, as well. It was still simple, but the grid based map lent itself to some more strategic tactics than the previous game, which was an overall improvement.

Also, space battles. Enough said.

23. Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)

I haven't touched this game since the first time I played it about a year after it came out, but I feel like if I replayed it now, I'd enjoy it even more than I did back then. I've always been a casual superhero, and especially Batman fan, but in the past few years I've significantly ramped that up to the point that I take trips to my local comic shop every Wednesday to pick up the newest releases.

Still, the thought of playing a good Batman game was intriguing back then, and I'm glad I did. It's easy to talk about how the Batman combat system has worn out its novelty nowadays, because it seemed like every game that came out after this one copied some portion of it. When this game first came out though, I was blown away by the smoothness and flow of the combat here, and how good it felt to just knock people out as the Dark Knight.

Other than the fact that I'm playing as the Batman in Batman's world and interacting with well known Batman villains, my favourite part of this game and the series as a whole has been the predator encounters. I dislike stealth in games, but it's never been punishing in the Batman games, and it has always been extremely fun to stalk your enemies and take them out one by one as the Batman.

If you haven't been able to tell, I like Batman.

I was convinced you had won at least 2 of those games, FD.

I read somewhere earlier today that Haruka's slide is pretty bad, and that you should be able to catch up to most throws just by running.

I'm not sure if that's actually the case, but it might be the reason why you're having trouble getting to some of those lobs.

@Forceful_Dragon I just got out of the shower and noticed your invite, I'm down to play some now if you'd like.

My PS4 stays on almost 24 hours a day whether I'm on it or not, so if I don't respond to anything it's usually because I'm not actually at the console.

I haven't played any of today's games but I used to be a big GoW fan so I'm saddened to realize now that I may never have a chance to play GoW3, especially if it's apparently good!

I'm not sure what the consensus best game in the series is, but I think for most people it's God of War 3. At this point, I've played every game in the series, including the PSP ones, but at the time, I wasn't much of a fan and still thought it was great, so it'd be interesting to know what big fans thought of it at the time.
