McFarlan has been talking about a Spawn reboot for years....except the reboot doesn't have Spawn in it. The characters just talk about him.

To be fair, it actually is a cool concept. It follows Sam and Twitch, two major characters from the comics, as they investigate a crime Spawn is also investigating. Would be cool to see a superhero story from the peripherary.

But McFarlane is also demanding he direct it himself :/

Nah, Tommyknockers was bad but it had a lot redeeming, and was almost good.

I still have some more hated ones to come(Dolores, rose madder, and Dreamcatcher in particular), but Jesus this was hard to get through.
It has some good shock value, but none of it feels earned, because I never really care about any of the characters, and the story itself is pretty mediocre.
Plus, the main character is absolutely infuriating in how she feels about things. Sitting there still loving and mourning a husband who we've only been shown as an awful guy, particularly when he took realized he could get away with raping his wife and tried to go through with it.
And the whole theme of men looking down on women and women having it so hard, while not being something I disagree with, is handled in such a ham fisted, beat you over the head manner.
If I wasn't trying to read every King book, I'd have felt more than justified dropping this.

Just remembered and also read your topic again (you're only claiming the works you read this year). If you haven't already, you should also read insomnia. I liked that one a lot and it ties pretty heavily into the dark tower mythos.

Edit: also, what do you mean by collections? If you're talking about collections of short stories it probably won't be there. It's a hefty novel with like... 2 parts or something along those lines.

I tried this, but didn't get into Regulators. But I do have first edition hardcovers, for almost everything actually - all but the really old ones, and early Dark Tower books(I only have a first edition of The Wastelands).

Christine is done now, what a fantastic book. I really didn't have many expectations but killer cars and teenage drama. The latter was minimal and well handled, the former was way better than I thought it could be

I have never read Stephen King but I JUST saw this on Facebook:

How to make a Stephen King story:
1. Select a small-town setting in Maine.
2. Select at least four characters who are either childhood friends or are adults who have been friends since childhood. At least one must wear glasses, and at least one must have a combination of mental illness and supernatural/psychic abilities.
3. Include this phrase at least once, and early: "I don't know how I know, I just do," or "Don't ask me how I know, I just know it."
4. Introduce a possessed person, animal, or vehicle whose motives bear a distant analogy to the darker natures of the American zeitgeist. Cause the childhood friends to battle it, but be careful to not let this conflict overtake the greater, ongoing human issues arbitrarily established in the midst of their relationships.
5. Insert a rambling philosophical pontification on an obscure memory, personality trait or clothing item of an underdeveloped character who will soon die unexpectedly.
6. Allude to a dark secret. Allude again.

I also have all of his short story and novella collections to do, though I've read at least some of each one, and most of some of them(Everything's Eventual I just need to read the Dark Tower story).

Lost the email to my account, and they forced a password change so I can't access it. Go to support, and the only things they'll allow as identification are credit card numbers used for the account, or the serial number for the PS3 originally used to register the account, both things I no longer have since I've been using Paypal and sold the PS3.

In contrast, I had to recover my account through GOG as well, and their options for recovery also included paypal transaction numbers, codes used to unlock games, and answering personal details about the account, any of which could apply to PSN, and any of which I could've used to access it.

Bank can't give me old card numbers either, so I'm SOL, my onlyoption is to wait for the next automated PSN payment and do a chargeback.

I don't know. I like the fact that Kingdom Hearts 1 didn't hold your hand so much but it appears that seems to be the thing that people don't like.

I don't mind not holding your hand, but there's a big difference. Traverse town is simply "you need to enter these buildings and areas in this specific order, including backtracking, with no real rhyme or reason and nothing pointing you to them,either subtly or forcefully.

I was on normal. The boss attacks quickly and randomly, and kills in two hits,while I have no skills or items beyond a couple potions.

KH2 was incredible though.

Tons of cutscenes surrounded by bad fetch quests, awkward controls, button mashing combat, and incomprehensible story. Then you get to a new area, and follow more a random search with no instructions or directions, and a boss fight that's excessively difficult while giving you no tools to fight it other than a basic attack.

No wonder I didn't like it before :/

And yeah subtlety and Danganronpa are two things that don't mix. It is an intentional stylistic decision, but if it's one you don't like than you probably won't think too highly of the series.

I only dislike it in the sense that they don't hide the facts of a mystery well, not in terms of story.

How was the third possibly easier than 11037 (First Case)?

Both the first and the second had a couple elements that threw me, though I got the majority. The third was just so obvious and lacked subtlety.

They get harder as they go on. But yeah the first two especially are really predictable.

The second game was also harder to predict, though in some of the cases I'd claim that was for bad reasons rather than good ones.

The third was easier than the first or second Tbqh.

Good to know, I'll try it. They're good ideas for mysteries, they just needed more Polish.

Just finished the third trial. I'd figured out the main twist well before getting to trial, and knew who did it almost as soon as the trial started. This has regularly been the case.

I still like the game, but the mystery aspect is lacking :/

There are parts of that that are definitely illegal(almost entirely the doing it in public part), but there's no abuse there at all.

I mean technically, more people voted against him didn't they? Just not in the right places.
For a country getting it's panties in a bunch about equality. Their political system is built on inequality. One persons vote is literally less important than an other persons because of where they live. Regardless of age, race, sexuality or religion.

It would be the same either way, but the current system means fewer people get screwed over. If we just went straight vote numbers, it would be California and just a small handful of others deciding everything, and flyover states wouldn't even matter.

Lost my old email through my own stupidity, and thought I'd updated PSN to the new one but apparently missed it until a few weeks ago. Figured it wouldn't be a big deal, I still have the PS4, and I have access to the Paypal I use to pay for PS+ and other things.

But turns out their customer service is archaic. They want the credit card numbers I've used to make purchases(I haven't used a card on it in forever and don't have those numbers anymore), or the serial number for the PS3 I used to make the account(an almost 9 year old system which I traded in when I got my PS4). There's no reason I shouldn't be able to recover it with what I have, except for their ineptitude :/

And here I am unable to recover my account because of inept customer support :/

"A business can refuse service for any reason" should allow a bakery to not have to pay a 6 figure fine for not making a gay wedding cake. I would take that precedent and destroy these people with it.
