Name one other law that compels speech. Those laws don't exist for a reason. The whole PURPOSE of "pleading the 5th" is a recognition that you can't force someone to say something under penalty of law. You can wrap it in a bow and call it "anti-bigotry" all you want, but it's simple authoritarianism. It's blasphemy laws. It's 1500s-era shit. It has no place in modern society.

Considering the law only targets systemic harassment by staff in places where the patients have no way out, this is completely fair. There are plenty of laws protecting against harassment in workplaces, and this is a similar one, but in care facilities instead.

I can't see cisgender being a positive thing for trans people. At all. The group I would call "non-transgender" would be within the green and outside of the purple, while the green itself is ALL women.

I don't worry as much about gender anymore. It doesn't really factor into how I interact with someone by default. Obviously things become more personalized over time, but otherwise meh. That might seem odd since I obviously cared enough about gender to change everything, but the difference is that I did that for me, and nothing else. I don't worry about being seen as male or female, because I see myself as female regardless and it seems that the world does as well. It could be that this is something like passing privilege, but I don't know what to say otherwise.

I got penile inversion via Brassard. I don't really know, but I've always been a quick healer. I had no bruising or external swelling by the end of the first week either, and the guide definitely said that it could take half a year.

No, I never has to use silver nitrate at all. Everything was almost healed up by the time I came home. I only had a tiny bit of granulation around the rim, and definitely not enough to need any treatment. It went away entirely on its own within a couple of weeks.

I guess that is the main thing I'd warn about SRS that isn't obvious . . . things are going to be very messy for quite a long time in many ways.

I don't know how an online vouching is really a thing. I can say for certain that she has knowledge that probably only a trans girl would likely have.

On the other subject being discusses, I don't remember ever having blood pressure issues either. I did have plenty of salt cravings, but that has definitely died down in the last four months. Currently I am wondering how long I will continue to be constantly wet. Pretty interesting at first, but a few months of it just makes it pretty messy. Could be this is normal and I just gotta get used to it. Dunno, it is new to me either way.

Indoctrination is a dirty word with a lot of malicious connotation behind it; but at the end of the day, the very act of growing up in a system necessarily requires that the youth be indoctrinated in the ways of their society by the adults. And school has never, ever been a place to simply learn facts (and it's arguable whether even learning "just the facts" falls outside the realm of what could be called "indoctrination").

Bingo. And thus it is up to the parents to round out the education indoctrination. If you do not want your teachers to be the ones teaching a subject, get to it before it becomes a matter that they have to.

You basically ignored my point, which I sort of expected. There are no credible studies for trans suicide, since none of them actually rigorously isolate the reasons for it. Most of the ones used are done by religious nutjobs with an agenda, or are simply cases of misconstruing data from older studies and whatnot.

There hasn't been any sort of study done in the last few years, now that there are so many better options available to trans in the US. Stop taking your cues from totally irrelevant and obsolete information. But that wouldn't fit the narrative, now would it?

I also alluded to the 40% suicide rate, of which there are many studies, and which still stays an order of magnitude above the national average even if only looking at "passing" individuals.

As for her lived experiences, her telling me that she is a woman because she says so contradicts the evidence. Her personal experience having a good tradition is also not evidence that the 40% suicide rate would go away if we all just "accepted it" and it certainly doesn't turn valid science into flat earth nonsense.

I remember that study about the schizophrenia medicine, and it wasn't even using actual trans patients. It was some whack job that got a confused patient, misidentified the problem, and then 'cured' it.

Oh, I don't remember actually arguing the point of being specifically a woman to you. I legally and socially am a woman, and I don't need internet validation to give me warm and fuzzies.

Now try to get me a study that tests how trans people do in a scenario where they aren't treated like shit, and get back to me. All your evidence points to is that at least 40% of trans women live in situations that are pretty awful at points.

Oh fuck off. I actually bothered to read the study and educate myself on the subject, rather than just accept "my side's" arguments as doctrine. Don't pull that helping children bullshit. It's not dislike of the subject. I have no problem admitting 0.3% of the population is trans, and that's its a real condition. What I DO dislike is being told it's normal, we should celebrate it, and rather than continue to research treatment methods we should just assume the suicide rate is due entirely to social stigma (even though it doesn't go down in passing individuals) and will "go away" if we all believe hard enough. I'm sick of being told the left is the party of science while at the same time being told by the same people that we should make sweeping changes as a society when the science isn't there.

I'm not accepting a side's arguments as my own. I made my own. I am a trans woman, and I went through life as a child that knew they wanted to transition from a young age. I know you can put up study after study of bullshit for your arguments.

The world had to go through the same adventures when it was trying to prove that the world was not flat, or that the universe didn't revolve around it. Do you know how many random experts popped up defending those views? It took centuries for no reason. And you know what, that is what is happening now.

Being trans is not inherently damaging. It doesn't disable you, and it doesn't have to reduce your quality of life. Any problems that arise are almost entirely caused by knee jerk reactions by ideologies that are intolerant of deviation from their viewpoints. Children don't hate. Hate is taught. Those children wouldn't have any problem with someone changing gender, I know because I was in elementary school and I had no trouble doing that same thing even without the teacher's help.

Teaching young kids that it is okay to be whatever they are isn't a negative.

But teaching kids that what they are is something they aren't IS a negative. The study doesn't affirm that a mtf kid is a "girl brain in a boy body", but all the reporting on that study implied that was the case. All the study confirms is that a mtf brain is aberrant. I'm not suggesting you teach kids they're a freak or anything, but you don't tell a kid in a wheelchair they're the same as every other kid and then not build any ramps. You tell them that it's okay to be different, because they already know they're different, and then find ways to help them fit into society.

Oh yeah, and we could make the same arguments for left-handed people as well. The thing is, all these things can be taught and adapted to, and they don't have to be a problem. But it does require that people stop taking the existence of trans as this crazy thing to be stamped out, ostracized and litigated into obscurity.

Stop trying to rationalize your dislike of the subject. It is clear that you aren't interested in helping children, you just want to make them intolerant of differences as well.
