Yeah I can get behind that. Art direction is probably more important. I guess I thought you were saying graphical fidelity was totally irrelevant not that it was simply, far less important that art direction.

Yeah, I could probably have been a bit less hyperbolic about it.

What do you mean?

That Xenoblade visually wowed me on a very regular basis, and it did so with butt-ugly graphics. As one example, at least. It's impossible not to notice that its graphics are pretty bad, but that stopped bothering me pretty quickly after I started playing, just as I stop appreciating 4k textures pretty quickly. What I do keep appreciating in games - regardless of graphical quality - is good art direction. The environments you marveled at in Andromeda were marvelous because they were well-designed, not because they had lots of pixels. The character models that bothered you bothered you not because they lacked pixels, but because they were poorly designed.

Now, graphical fidelity is useful for making well-designed environments. The more power a system and engine has to spare, the more artistic flexibility you have in designing stuff, especially in the realms of draw distance and object counts. Calling art direction and graphical fidelity "independent" is an exaggeration. However, the balance is very heavily in art direction's favour when it comes to what makes games look good.

You know, I love To the Moon with a passion, but I never got the buzz around Everything's Alright.

For me, it's less the song itself and more what it represents. I've always fairly strongly associated tracks with their part of the game, and for a credit/epilogue track, that means hearing the track calls to mind how I felt upon finishing the game (which actually goes both ways, in that a good credit song will positively influence my lasting impression of a game, but that's another matter). I was feeling a whole lot of feels upon finishing To the Moon, and hearing Everything's Alright (along with
) calls them all back, even if there are individual songs that are better and/or more inherently emotive.

In general, a lot of people are really impatient and angry while driving, and being at all uncertain in your driving tends to result in behaviours that set them off, like going slower than they want to. Just ignore them and do your own thing, unless they actually get dangerous such that you have to protect yourself (which is unlikely). Let them have their heart attack at 45 from being angry all the time; it's not likely to affect you.

That offer would be to entice people to volunteer. If you wait for the compensation to reach a higher value, you risk having somebody else cash in earlier and rob you of your chance entirely.

So you risk... what exactly? Getting to your destination without interruption? The horror!

Well, yeah. Worst case scenario, you've lost nothing. If you're willing to take compensation instead of flying as expected, though, holding out for better compensation presents the risk that somebody else will take a lower price and you'll miss that opportunity. My point is that the nature of that gamble will keep compensation amounts from escalating too high in most cases.

It's hilarious watching people struggle to calculate a tip. Just move the decimal place and multiply by two, idiot. Well, that's for 20% of course, but it's not much harder for 15%, and even easier for 10%

I usually just estimate 15%. I've got a reasonable sense of multiples of 15 because sales tax here is 15%, but while it's easy enough to do 16*1.15 in my head, 18.40*1.15 is notably harder. Typically, what will happen is I'll round up to a whole bill, figure out what percentage that corresponds to by comparing it to 10/20%, and add/subtract from that if it's not a good approximation of 15%.

Granted, I rarely use cash these days, so usually the card machine will just do all the calculation for me.

If there's limited paid sick leave, it's fine, because that's leave that's already been accounted for and they're making a choice to use it for that at risk of not having it when they need it. If it's unpaid sick leave, then it's also fine, because they're making a choice to lose a day's pay. If they're taking that leave at inconvenient times, that's another problem, but capable workers can typically ensure they aren't disrupting anything too badly.

The problem with Wii onward is that there's no single controller to be voting on. Wiimote alone is very different from Wiichucks, CC, or CCP. The Gamepad is very different from the WiiU Pro controller. The Joycons are very different from the Switch Pro controller. The poll should probably have specified exactly which controllers were being judged for those systems.

It also doesn't help that the Switch Pro controller is rather expensive, so a lot of people probably haven't ever used one.
