There are areas in PA where you still find old people who ONLY speak German. Nobody bats an eyelash. Some of the Amish people speak mostly their own dialect too, nobody bats an eyelash. But say "hola" and suddenly the anger of thousands of conservatrolls rains on that person.

Is that really a good example, though? The Amish just keep to themselves, for the most part. Do they even vote in significant numbers? I don't think the Amish are projected to outpace any other groups in terms of birth rates any time soon, and I'm pretty sure they aren't supporting mass immigrations of undocumented German natives.

Salem's Lot, the horror just didn't work for me. I don't really know why, about the only actual complaint I can make against SL is that the ending was kind of anticlimactic(not his worst ending by any means, but not his best). Really it isn't like SL is bad at all, it just isn't as good as others.

If you haven't already, try King's short story Jerusalem's Lot. It expands on the Salem's Lot lore, but in a very different way. It also creeped me out far more than Salem's Lot.

The flag is definitely a piece of cloth. The N-word, like all other racist slurs, is definitely a short arrangement of sounds. Taken at face value, neither should incite so much rage, pain and controversy when they are, for lack of a better word, misused. Yet, they do cause outrage. Obviously, they represent so much more to certain groups of people and what they consider as being critical to their struggles, history and identity.

I don't think your friend should have had her post removed, but then the other offensive material should not be either. On the other hand, since your friends post was removed, then the racist posts should have been, too. Choosing either option would prevent the double standard you're experiencing.

As for being denied service, you sound like you're implying separate but equal as an acceptable condition. Christianity has influenced policies involving women's rights, reproductive rights, gay equality, transgendered equality, and a myriad of other social policies.
