BlazinBlue88 04/11/17 11:40:16 PM #19 | I owed $200 to federal and $100 to state. Pretty happy about it. --- |
Topic | My parents are ashamed of my career choice. |
BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 1:43:37 PM #13 | What schooling/experience/certifications do you have? What type of IT are you looking to do? --- |
Topic | Only 8.85% of the users here are under 21. Why arent younger people coming here? |
BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 1:41:41 PM #21 | ArchiePeck posted... Message boards of this nature are an outdated format to young people. That's sad to me. I don't feel like reddit or any other format site is made for long form discussion like this one. --- |

BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 1:39:47 PM #13 | AzNDarkSamurai posted... My gf told me that majority of people dont like their jobs but they have to do it to pay the bills A lot of that depends on if they have a career job or a dead end job. --- |

Similar to what I posted in another thread. Contact IT recruiters in your area. They work with business and the public to place people into jobs. Also instead of just searching job sites. Make an account and upload your resume. Companies search these sites for people just like you do for jobs. Indeed and Dice are the main two I use for IT. If you live out in the country where there's no IT jobs then you either need to relocate to a city with plenty of IT jobs or start that factory work. Side note, factory work is bull shit. Standing by a conveyor belt all day isn't even hard manual labor. It's just boring. --- |

Topic | Anybody work in computers? |
BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 1:00:10 PM #27 | Plus they train you when you get hired. No one expects a new hire to hit the ground running. They just need to know you have the proper understanding of the concepts. --- |

BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 12:57:02 PM #24 | Katellox posted... CableZL posted...With networking, you're essentially dealing with routers, switches, firewalls, etc, and essentially making sure devices on the network can properly and efficiently communicate with the resources they need to access whether it's a server on the local network or a resource on the internet or otherwise external to the network. Something you'll find in IT. The job titles mean bull shit. A sys admin at one company will be in charge of a, b, and C. While a sys admin at another job will do c, d, and e. Hardly any overlap. Honestly most of what Cable listed a lot of help desk technicians do. It all depends on the company. You can move from networking to sys admin if you want but it isn't an upgrade. They are separate so you'd be starting from scratch in sys admin. A few skills cross over between paths but not much. --- |
Topic | Anybody work in computers? |
BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 12:52:13 PM #21 | Networking is more the maintenance and configuration of things like network switches and firewalls. Making sure network traffic flows properly while still keeping with security. I probably really simplified Cable's job. Lol System Administration(what I do), deals with the infrastructure within a business. So I manage things like creating servers, installing and updating the software on those servers, handling all the user accounts and mailboxes on the network, basically everything under the sun that is higher than "my computer is broke" Both programming and databases are their own career path. Cyber security is another path. There isn't any programming involved in sys admin except for the occasional PowerShell script but that's something I Google and copy/paste. Networking only has programming on the high technical level. The people that actually code the software that the switches run. Most people aren't doing that. --- |

BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 11:43:52 AM #11 | Also keep in mind that the Cisco certs are for the networking track of IT. There's a lot of different career fields within IT. Check out the CompTia certifications. They are primarily entry level certificates. The A+ and Security + are always good to grab. Most companies will pay for you to take these certifications so don't worry about footing the bill for all of them. Also look for IT recruiting companies in your area. They'll help place you in jobs. Use job search sites like indeed and dice. Make accounts on them and upload your resume. Companies and recruiters search these sites for potential employees the same way you would search the site for a job. I don't even search for jobs anymore. I just update my resume on these sites and I get a flood of emails for the next two weeks with people trying to offer me jobs. --- |

BlazinBlue88 04/10/17 11:26:45 AM #12 | Looks great so far. Don't be afraid to get some quality moisturizer in the beauty product aisle. My wife gave me this cream that I use all the time to keep my face moisturized. --- |
Topic | what is more important for success in marriage life? |
BlazinBlue88 04/08/17 10:17:56 PM #8 | Coming on 3 years of marriage here. I'm my personal experience, the keyword is effort. Too many people see marriage as the finish line and think once they are married, they don't have to try anymore. You have to constantly make an effort to keep things fun and non complacent. Random gift, dates, signs of affection. How I act towards my wife is how I acted towards her when she was my girlfriend. --- |
