Lol, I'd just invest the money into a 529 or brokerage account. Lol, someone can do this, but it's gotta to be for more than just the financial aspect. Maybe as part of a hobby or an emotional/personal thing that they just want to pass on.

You gotta assume someone that initially had this idea also has some sort of decent sized investment account for their children, and it doing this as a continuation of their own personal hobby they hope to share with their child.

Is it really any different than starting a savings account for them, put $500 in initially, and throwing $100 in it every month till they're 21?

Let say you get a 4% return, and assume 3% for inflation, you'd be handing them an account with $40 grand in it on their 21st birthday.

This sounds super pretentious, but is actually solid advice, assuming you buy the right bottles.

The same could be said for any collectable item though.

Yes. But with some HOAs, it is as petty as the equivalent of putting a bumper sticker on your window or truck nuts on your hitch. Some HOAs can fine you for not keeping your house aesthetically appealing. So its more than just making your car not street legal.

Not really. Cops wont pull you over if you pain your car blue if it was originally white. Or of you put bumper stickers on it.

Some HOAs can fine you for making non-approved cosmetic changes to your house, like the door example I gave. Or switching your house to solar.

Silly things, like HOAs fining homeowners for painting their front door pink or some shit like that.

We though the same but every vet we bring him to said nothing is wrong.

Theyre all seemed to agree that because he was a rescue (we got him when he was 2) there may have been some abuse/trauma before being rescued

Ive had a dog for 7 years.

Ive heard it bark 3 times.

Its more like having a cat. To the point that Ill never get another dog after hes gone because I know itll be impossible to get one thats as well behaved as the one I have now.

Cant we all just admit that some HOAs are properly implemented, while others arent, and just move onto some other CE topic that most likely has nothing to do with us, but we have a venomous opinion on it anyway?

And the ones that do, the charge is no where near what the 3rd party delivery services charge.

If a neighborhood consists of purely residential uses, it is dead. You need businesses to generate value. Stuff like a house where part of it was converted to a coffee shop. Someone doing woodwork. A two story house where the bottom floor is a bakery.

And a small mechanic isnt a big deal when you consider that it is common for people to do like oil changes and car work in their driveway.

And Id say it increases value for the neighborhood because being able to drop your car off and easily walk back to your house is way better than driving halfway across town because those things are only allowed in specific areas.

Other than a doctor or dentist running their practice out of their house, Ive never heard of this other than in a big city where the ground floor of an apartment building has stores in it.

People that think HOAs are a scam are the same people that will pay an extra $8 to DoorDash a pizza instead of calling up the pizza place directly and have it delivered for free.

So what I am getting from this topic is HOAs are a great way to keep "undesirables" out of a neighborhood and to a great way to keep the neighborhood "homogeneous". HOAs are racist and will always be racist. If you support a HOA you are basically supporting institutional racism and the corporatization of home ownership.

I guess I should tell my brother in law and his black husband, along with their black next door neighbors that they are living in a racist neighborhood because they have an HOA that basically pays for their landscaping and snow removal.

Cant we just tell people to date whoever theyre attracted to, and not be hateful towards the ones they arent, without having to label every single viewpoint?

That is your prerogative to decide who you date or who you dont date.

Someone may be attracted to someone and then find out their grandmother is black or brown, and then decide they dont want to date or have children with that person based on that criteria. It happens.

But in a situation like that, or really either, you can then be labeled a transphobe or a racist, no?

TBH, This is what happens to every athlete that is hyped in the media the way she has been. She is one if not the best college woman player ever. But the media has gone so overboard in claiming she is the singular reason for better TV deals, the new charter planes, etc. They make it like she transcends the entire sport and of course that is going to piss both fans and current players off.

The sad thing is that Clark herself has never portrayed herself in that light. She is very humble and always tries to show respect for past and current platers. The media is doing her no favors putting her on such a pedestal.

She's 15th in PPG and 8th in Assists, so it's not like she came in and fell on her face.

The team that drafted her is BAD. They were 13-27 last year, 5-31 the year before.

WNBA is more of a team game than the NBA is. One or two players won't turn a team completely around like it does in the NBA.

She is (arguably) the best college basketball player to come around in a long time, coming off a year the WNBA had some of it's best rating and attendance numbers.

I've been in some sort of office environment as a job for almost 30 years now, starting as a Data Entry Clerk at a bank when I was 19, and I've never really witness the stereotypical "brown nosing" of the boss like you would see in TV or Movies.

Whenever I would hear about it, the accusation is usually from someone that half-asses their job and are jealous of the guy/girl that is actually doing their job to their full potential, and just being nice to their superiors.

A silly thing I miss about "back in the day" was back during the SNES/Genesis days, me and my friend would call the EA Customer Service number, becasue one of the options was "Future Releases".

It was literally just a recording of what games were comin gout and the dates they were being released.

9 times out of 10 it would be the same recording, but MANNNN, when they would update it and we heard that the next NHL, NBA Live, or Madden was coming out, we would get HYPED
