Nope, gotta rebuild my PTO after I took 8 days off for a Disney/Universal trip and then had to take a few more when my daughter was sick.

Trying to bank 3-4 weeks worth before taking any more, should have that by May or June. Shitload of paid holidays between now and then so Ill have plenty of off time, and my wife is a stay at home mom now so we dont have to worry about taking time off for kid stuff anymore.

Goal is to be able to consistently take Wednesday and all of Friday off for Thanksgiving(currently I get the holiday and then Fridays a half day) and also the week between Christmas Eve and New Years

It was wonderful as a kid, then one year I had my last Christmas with the whole family together for the last time and didnt even realize it. Its in the middle of the work week instead of being part of a long break from school too which makes it hard to enjoy.

My wife and I bought our first one in 2016. Nebraska has a first time homebuyer program where they give you two loans. One is the main mortgage and one covers down payment, closing, etc. You just have to come up with $1000 to cover an inspection and an earnest deposit.

That second loan is for 10 years at 1% interest so for us it was like $34 a month. And you can pay it off early and theres no penalty if you sell your house to pay both loans off.

We bought it for 139k, sold it exactly two years later for $163k and we didnt do any improvements. Walked away with about 22k and moved in with my parents for a bit to look for our forever home. Found out at this point, Navy Federal Credit Union also has a first time home buyer program which we happened to qualify for because we were no longer home owners. 100% financing, and if you use a partner realtor you get money back at closing.

Our house was pre-inspected, we asked them to fix everything and they did, they paid all closing, and we used a partner realtor. We literally got paid to buy the house. Not a penny out of pocket and we got $2000 at closing and got to keep all our money in the bank :D

So yeah, its possible. Gotta search for programs your state has. Or banks. Navy Federal doesnt require military service btw, just need to have a family member whos served before for you to open an account. Its the Homebuyers Choice loan iirc.

Interest rates and home prices now make it a lot harder but at least you can skip the whole saving 5-6 figures just to put down part.

No, but one time I had my lunch in the office refrigerator and I got stuck working on a project so instead of my usual 12pm lunch I went at 3.

Got to the break room and opened the fridge and my food was gone. Looked over on the counter and saw my lunchbox sitting open, and all the Tupperware containers were emptied and cleaned out. It was the quarterly deep clean of the break room and the fucking assholes that did it decided to empty out literally everything. It was a damn good home cooked meal from my wife that I was looking forward to so much and I was fucking livid.
