| KCF0107 05/03/25 5:44:38 AM #5 | I haven't gotten far in South of Midnight (I think that I'm on chapter 2), and while everything I have experienced so far is purely narrative or a platforming set piece, I'm really digging the stop-motion animation combined with whatever kind of paint style that is for the art. I'm just hoping that once the gameplay sets in, it is solid enough to do the rest justice. I've also been doing more of CrossCode. As I have now reached Chapter 4, that means that I have surpassed all of my previous six or seven attempts that I made from 2018-2020. The game was really kicking my ass in the mountains with the snowmen really messing me up. I decided to leave and do a bunch of quests, and somewhere in this process I re-discovered the circuit menu, and I placed nearly all of my CP on attack and defense. Boy do I feel dumb about having already forgotten about that menu! It reminds me of playing FFX as a kid and not using the sphere grid until I was roughly halfway through the game. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy |

Switch performance was great, but if I had to do it over, I would have gotten it on PC as this would have been phenomenal with keyboard and mouse to string some even more sick aerial and attack combos. | KCF0107 04/30/25 10:22:30 PM #195 | Donkey Kong Land (Switch) I have memories of playing this on my cousin's Game Boy at a bagel place as a kid, but in my mind, the game was visually distinct from DKC, so imagine my surprise 25 years later that this straight up looks like DKC on Game Boy. I'm going through all three games simultaneously, and while the other two basically copy DKC 2 and 3, this one was its own thing. I think it probably worked control-wise better on the Game Boy, but I still enjoyed this. It is unfortunate that due to the limitations of the system, you could fall to your death if you went off screen too fast for the game to follow even if there was a platform or something else underneath you. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy |
